Comment: It says here that Jesus preached to the spirits in prison! Where? When? In Hell! The three days between his crucifixion and his resurrection! Jesus preached to the captives in the heart of the earth! These two scripture verses are probably one of the most controversial in all your Bible! Theologians over the centuries a lot smarter than me have written commentaries on these two verses! Some have tried to explain it away! The biggest obstacle to understanding these two verses is our own human nature! We do not like to have people get a second chance! It is alright for ourselves but not others! So what was the state of all the people that lived and died before Christ? They missed Christ by birth so what is their future? Remember the dead in Christ will rise first! Jesus preached to all that ever lived before him including those that died in the flood in the days of Noah! So what did Jesus preach to them? The same as today! Victory over fallen spirits! So how many got saved? The Bible does not say? Just as today I do not know how many fallen spirits will be saved I just keep preaching the Gospel and leaving the results to God! Keep in mind after the resurrection of Christ Jesus will not return to the heart of earth as in this case for our redemption opportunity is only today and at our last breath the opportunity for redemption has expired! Thoughts about the Star!
This star is not an astronomical object! The star appeared at the moment of Jesus birth. It was visible to the wise men of Babylon. If they saw the star over Israel, it would indicate it was not astronomical because stars do not rise in the west! They rise in the east. If it rose in the east it was very special because star gazers like these wise men would not have difficulty recognizing the planet Venus! Traditional images show the wise men traveling over the desert following a star. However Matthew 2 does not say they followed a star to Israel. In fact, it would appear, from their reaction, that the star newly reappeared in Matthew 2:9. How could a star go before the wise men? Bethlehem is to the south of Jerusalem! Stars do not move south. They move west. Stars do not settle over houses. The Greek word for star (Aster), implies something strewn! What could it be? What could it be that moves easily from west to east appearing as strewn light? A pillar of fire would be a good example! Remember the Shechinah Glory of light that moved with the Tabernacle representing the presence of God? This light could have been interpreted as a star! It is believed the wise men reached Bethlehem about 2 years after Jesus birth. That is why Herod ordered the murder of the children 2 years and younger! He turned the sun and time back for Joshua to win the battle! He opened the Red Sea for Moses and drowned the pursuing army with the same sea! Mary bore Jesus yet being a virgin! Jesus raised the dead and has promised to raise those who believe and trust him! Jesus himself was raised from the dead! Peter at midnight was delivered from the prison! Do I believe in miracles! Absolutely! Jesus delivered me off my death bed some 45 years ago! Is it a stretch to believe God at his word? It is a stretch not to! God who created all this can change anything or everything at his will! He transformed me from sin to righteousness with his atoning blood! Was it a star? All things are possible with God! He can create anyone he wants to! He can create anything he wants to at anytime at any place! He came to Bethlehem so he could prepare a place for you in Heaven! Why not follow Jesus to Heaven! Sunday Worship! Revelation 1:10
Greek Translation: “I, John was in the spirit when the breath of God blew on me! It was on the Lord’s day! It was Sunday the day and time of life that belongs to Christ! It is his day therefore I submit to my King and Ruler this day! This day is owned by my God!” Comment: Man’s day is in opposition to the Sabbath! Fifty years ago when I was a teenager about 90 percent of all businesses were closed on Sunday! What about today in America? I hear about more and more Christians telling me they have to work on Sunday? If the businesses stay open on Sunday then the employee’s will have to work on Sunday! Where was John in the 1st century when he received this revelation? He was in the Lord’s House on Sunday! Do not expect to hear from God if you forsake the Sabbath! It is like trying to catch a fish by casting your line on a sand dune in the desert! If you want to meet God you need to be where he hangs out! Now John’s church building could have been his prison! Peter and the Apostles spent time in prison but still honored the Sabbath! Turn your prison into a House of worship! If you do not want to be where God is then you may need to repent! If you resist Christ’s church here on earth you are also resisting him in Heaven! The separation from Christ begins here on earth and continues resisting Heaven! In American culture work has become the agent of resistance to Christ and Sunday worship! Most people move away from Christ gradually taking many little steps! Wait Upon The Lord….! Isaiah 40:31
This is a famous scripture that is often quoted! There are even songs written of this verse! So what does “Wait Upon” mean? In a generic sense we all know but if you go to the Hebrew root word you will find some amazing things! The Hebrew root word is “Qavah”, Strongs #6960. The word means to bind together by twisting! Just like a rope is made! A rope becomes strong by binding together small cords! A three strand cord is not easily broken! The Trinity would be a good example! Like the rope they are one but three separate individuals that are unbreakable formed together. They are one because there is no sin in them and they are in perfect agreement! The first symptom of sin is disagreement! Disagreement with the Word of God! Then with family and nation! Our Constitution established by our Founding Father’s three separate branches yet one government! Samson was twisted together with the strength of God! No rope could hold him! Until he was deceived by a woman who cut his hair and his spirit was unraveled from God! I am not blaming the woman here but he consented to her deceit and knew well what he was doing! Then his eyes were put out by the enemy. Sin will blind us to the truth! He repented and used his strength that God had restored to him to bring down the coliseum upon his enemies and himself! The reason we wait upon God is that we do not defeat the enemy Satan by ourselves but by who God is and our close wrapped relationship to him! Jesus could have easily broken the ropes that tied him to the whipping post and the Cross! However he was stranded together in the Trinity and knew his sacrifice was necessary to deliver all men from sin! Paul and Silas were tied together by ropes and chains in the prison! The ropes and chains of sin that put them there could not hold them! The hang man’s rope was broken as the punishment of death for sin was paid at Calvary! The word “Wait Upon” also means to be lifted up and exalted! To be offered up, carried up and elevated from one elevation to another! The Jewish Temple at Jerusalem was elevated up above the city! They call it the Temple Mount! Worshippers had to ascend up from the city to the Temple! Jesus was taken high up above the city at Mount Calvary! He was exalted there! Jesus ascended from Mount Olivet to Heaven! The Rapture of the Church will be an ascension from earth to Heaven! Holiness brings ascension while sin brings descension and death! This word also means to “offer Up.” Jesus was offered up as the only acceptable sacrifice for our sin! God offered up himself for our sin! We trust Christ because no one else or nothing else is trustworthy! We wait upon him in trust and confidence that he will accomplish the promises he has made to us! Why Kick President McKinley off the Mountain?
Have you ever heard of a standing United States President removing a memorial to a previous serving U.S. President? Obama evidently hates competition! Who is next? Mount Rushmore? Four President’s with name changes? Like Larry, Curley, Moe and President Obama! How hard he works at removing American history! Why? What has Obama got against President William McKinley? Is it the Cuba connection? McKinley was President during the Spanish American war. Remember the Maine! Spain was fighting a civil war on the island of Cuba. The Spanish military was fighting a civil war with Cuban residents in a rebellion against Spanish rule. American citizens were also living on the island and their safety was threatened! President McKinley ordered the U.S. Maine, a battleship down to Cuba to rescue Americans in danger! The ship peacefully entered Havana harbor and moored there to take home American citizens who felt threatened. The U.S. Maine exploded in the middle of the night with over 300 casualties and many wounded! Whether the ship was mined or blew up internally is still speculation after several investigations! McKinley got extreme pressure from the American public and legislators to go to war with Spain! McKinley was a Civil War Officer who knew the carnage of war! Finally under great pressure declared war on Spain! The war lasted just over 90 days with about 300 casualties. The important point here is America went to war to free the citizens of Cuba from the atrocities of the Spanish! Yes by Spain default America got Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam and Guantanimo Bay! Cuba lost its independence in the 1960’s under Communist Dictator Fidel Castro and continues today under his brother! President McKinley was assassinated in 1901 while serving in office! President Obama wants to give away Guantanimo Bay? He wants to normalize relations with Dictator’s in Iran, Cuba and other rogue nations? How does that work? If you were an America citizen would Obama rescue you? Forget it! Ask the four American citizens rotting in an Iranian prison! Ask the four Americans murdered in Bengazi! He will exchange a Army deserter for releasing 5 deadly terrorist from Guantanimo Bay? Did Paul and Peter pray for their leaders? I assume they did yet they were executed by Caesar! Some of their best works were written from prison! The authorities did not like to keep Martin Luther King Jr. in jail too long because he was working on his next speech! During the civil war Pastor’s and their congregations north of the Mason-Dixon line were praying for the north to win while Pastor’s and congregations south of the line were praying for the south to win! They were both praying for their leaders! A famous German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed by Hitler but I assume he prayed for Hitler. Some of our famous reformation leaders were burned at the stake by their King! I assume they prayed for them! Jesus called his political leader Herod a fox but prayed for him! He called the religious rulers of his day a generation of vipers but prayed for them! Do we pray for ISIS leaders? What would be your prayers to those who were about to behead you! Father forgive them for they know not what they do! Different from prayers of the west? Father give me a big house, big auto, big money and fame and fortune! Jesus taught us how to pray! I love this prayer because it is not a political prayer! I personally have one leader or ruler and Savior and His name is Jesus Christ! I am loyal to one Kingdom and that is the Kingdom of God and His Christ! It is so funny I have a friend in Colorado Springs who was my military boss back in the 1970’s. We are both retired and meet once a month and tell old war stories! I told Kenny we were praying that our house would sell so we could move back to Georgia. Kenny told me he was praying that our house not sell and we stay in Colorado! I told Kenny you are my friend but not my prayer partner! Our prayers should be in agreement with God! We usually pray for an outcome. Do we always get it? God’s will is often different from our will! To deliver us from evil means not to partake in promoting evil! This is the web site you need to go to sign a petition to release a Christian mother in Sudan who has been sentenced to death for marrying a Christian! She delivered her second child in prison three days ago while shackled to a floor! Her twenty month old is also in prison with her! Her husband is a U. S. citizen which makes their children U.S. citizens! The prison in Sudan has a capacity for a hundred but currently has 1200 prisoners. Children die everyday in this prison due to heat and unsanitary conditions. President Obama and the State Department have done nothing to secure her release? We need about 81000 signatures on this petition by June 27th. We currently have about 19000. Marion is also scheduled to receive 100 lashes before her execution! If you are a Pastor or Christian leader please encourage your congregation to get involved! Really with millions of Christians in American and we only have 19000 signatures is pathetic! God Sent Me To Preserve Life! Genesis 45:5
This is really what God is all about! In a world full of death, disease, wars and storms man needs someone to preserve life! These words were said by Joseph to his brothers when he revealed himself to them as second in command in Egypt. The name Joseph means, “God Will Increase.” When you let God do the increasing instead of by your own efforts peace will come along with prosperity for you and others around you. The world’s way is to get it for myself. God’s way is just the opposite. We receive from Him to benefit others! If Egypt ever needed a Savior it is right now. The Joseph God sends to them today may be you? You could spend a few years in prison there on false charges as Joseph did but God will raise you up through Christ as a mighty deliverer! Thankyou.
