Doubt The Right Way!

John 20:25 “The other disciples therefore said unto him (Thomas), We have seen the Lord (Jesus). But he (Thomas), said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the nail scars, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his spear pierced side, I will not believe.” Comment: The disciple Thomas has gotten a lot of bad press over the centuries! A lot of jokes about him! Remember when Thomas told the other disciples let us go with Jesus so we can all die! The name Thomas means twin or double. My Bible says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways! Thomas is probably not the guy you would hire to teach a self-confidence course! My Bible says it is foolish to trust in man! Because they are mortal and sway with the wind! Thomas started off on the wrong foot because of his bad experiences in life! We all start off this way! My mother didn’t love me! My wife betrayed me! No inheritance left for me! Through these experiences we learn to trust only ourselves and doubt God! We have the theology backwards! The safe mode is really to trust God and doubt ourselves! We cannot trust ourselves because we are mortal! Men who trust themselves and doubt God end up in Hell! Those who trust God and doubt themselves end up in Heaven! How did Thomas finish after he learned to trust God! He went to India as a missionary in the first century and was martyred there for his faith in Christ! Our first year on the mission field in India we spent in the city where Thomas was martyred! Madras then and called Chennai now. We saw the tomb of Thomas there in a Catholic church located along Marina Beach. Since we left years later his remains were moved to Rome. We saw Saint Thomas Mount in the south end of the city where he was martyred. What I witnessed there was a vibrant Christian community there of millions of people! Because Thomas believed Jesus and left his doubts with God his sacrifice planted seeds of the Christian faith that is very apparent today! Jesus told Thomas that blessed are those who do not see yet believe! So to trust and believe the immortal Christ rescues us from our own mortality! Jesus has promised those who believe he will raise from the dead! Raised fit for Heaven! He will also raise the unbelievers but judged to Hell for their unbelief! Which is it for you? What Way? Mark 1:2

Is there more than one way to skin a cat? Is there more than one way to get to Heaven? Jesus made it clear there is only one way! The word “way” in the Greek means to travel in a manner of life or a method to live by to the revealed will of God for your life! It is the only road leading to Salvation! It is the only road leading to eternal life with God not separated from him! It is an action that keeps you on this road in the direction of his providence trusting him to remove the obstacles in the road that would block your Blessings and Redemption! It is a matter of trust in him to stay on this road! It is a way to detour around death and stay on the road of life! Only those that stay on this highway can stay on this road with a lot of the traffic taking another route to hell! Those that stay on the road to Salvation also proclaim this way to eternal life to others sharing the good news Christ has revealed to us through His Word! Jesus has prepared the way for you  going to the Cross for you! By being raised from the dead for you! By preparing a place in Heaven for you! Prepare the Way! Mark 1:1

John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus but he was not the way! The same holds true for Evangelism in the 21st Century! We prepare the way that leads to Jesus for the lost! We lead people to Christ on a road that leads to Salvation and Eternal Life! The word way in the Greek means a road in which one travels with a certain manner and style of life! Only one way that reveals the will of God for your life! It is a relationship to live by! It is a road leading to the providence of God for your life cleared of obstacles that would block your blessings! A road with no distractions from your purpose! A toll road where your fare has already been paid! All roads do not lead to God! All roads except one lead to Hell! Only one road leads to Heaven! This way is a road prepared by God for the children of God! Simply said Jesus is the only way! Easter is a reminder to us or should be that he is the only way to eternal life! James and Hamsa Sasse. A New Way of Living!

If man had his way, the plan of redemption would be an endless and bloody conflict! In reality, salvation was bought not by Jesus fist, but by His nail-pierced hands; not by muscle but by love; not by vengeance but by forgiveness; not by force but by sacrifice. Jesus Christ surrendered in order that He might win; He destroyed His enemies by dying for them and conquered death by allowing death to conquer Him! Pastor A. W. Tozer (1897-1963) Comment: Man could never achieve by himself what God has done for us and enabled us to model our lives after him! That is to live and die one day at a time with love for our fellow man the only motivation for what we say and do! To sacrifice for others rather than sacrifice others for ourselves! To trust God allows us to love our fellow man knowing our outcome is based upon His love! Happy Easter

Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh!

What was done with these gifts? What did Jesus do with these gifts given to him by these Kings of the East? Since Jesus was only about two years old his parents Joseph and Mary had to decide! Did they give them to the poor? They were poor themselves! Did they give them to Herod paying taxes on them? Did they distribute them to a local charitable organization in Bethlehem? Did they give them to the local synagogue? They used these funds to finance their trip down to Egypt to escape the clutches of King Herod! They used these funds to live in Egypt for two years and returning to Israel after Herod died! Joseph used the funds to set up his business as a carpenter in Nazareth! God will always make a way for his people when there seems like no way! You say no way my friend? He is the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but by him! Messianic Prophecy! 700 B.C.

Isaiah 50: 6-11 Comment: Isaiah begins in Chapter 50 asking the Jews why should they be surprised that they are in Babylonian captivity? You dug your own grave! The Lord told them they sold themselves into captivity through your own sin! Your mother is put away and you can never pay your creditors! The answer to their yoke of slavery is through a coming deliverer that has the tongue of the learned! This deliverer has given his back to the whip! His beard is plucked out! He has set his face like a flint to his task! He shall not be ashamed! No one will be able to condemn you although you deserve death! Is there anyone who will fear this deliverer? Walk in His light! He will show you the way of righteousness which by yourselves are not able to achieve! If you trust in the work of your own hands you will lie down in sorrow! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Only One Way to God! Isaiah 43:11-12

I, even I, am the Lord and beside me there is no savior who can free you and secure you in victory! I have declared confessed and proclaimed and have saved you, and have listened and heard there is no strange foreign god among you: therefore you are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God! Comment: The word saved and savior used in the Hebrew language is the same word Hosanna used in the New Testament! Remember the crowd shouted this word when Jesus made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem! The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament! The Old Testament points to the New Testament but remember Jesus pointed us back to the Old Testament as He quoted this Book often! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Prepare You a Way! Isaiah 40:3

“Prepare a physical pathway for the Lord, make upright and just in a wilderness a highway for our God.” Comment: This Old Testament prophecy was also quoted in the New Testament in several places! In (John 1:23), John the Baptist quoted this scripture to the religious and political leaders explaining what he was doing and why! The word “way”, used in the New Testament means a road in which one travels. Here is the real deal. We as believers had a way prepared for us to find God! The message you received about Christ may have come from a Evangelist, Pastor, teacher, Priest, prophet, elder, parent, grandparent or a missionary! They prepared a way for you to find Christ! We are to return the favor! You are preparing the way for others as you preach His Word! You may be doing a Bible study, prayer group, web site, Blog, audio or video tracts, prison ministry or a Pastor of a local church. You may be a missionary in a foreign land! You may distribute Bibles, Gospel tracts or do hospital and nursing home ministries. You may be doing a food kitchen or clothing distribution for the poor. Just like John the Baptist you are preparing the way for people to find Christ! At Jesus first coming John the Baptist prepared people to receive Christ! However today Christ’s second coming is even more important to prepare people’s hearts because His second coming will not be as Savior but as Judge of all. This makes our mission very important! John sacrificed his life for his mission but today the stakes are even higher! Even more is on the line today! At Christ’s second coming there will be no more choices available to you! Your eternity will be locked in forever! We cannot afford to play church! We must play for keeps! No business as usual. Each day that slips by begs the question what did I do today to prepare the way for others? Will we be able to answer Christ at the Judgment Seat with confidence and assurance that we did all we could to reach the lost? Was our heart in the world or in Heaven? If our destination is Heaven then think about Heaven! We cannot work our way to Heaven but we can prepare a way for others! Go out into the whole world and preach the Gospel. At marriage we say, “I do.” When we join the military we say, “I do.” Then the sacrifices begin! Jesus on the Cross said, “It is finished.” May the God of Heaven give us the grace to finish the highway to Heaven for others and receive the rewards Christ has promised us! The Way of the Cross! Isaiah 35:8

Hebrew Translation: “And a highway shall be there and a way of life with the behavior of men, and it shall be called, cried out and preached to a name. The way of life is holiness, set apart sacred and dedicated; the unclean, polluted and defiled shall not pass or cross over it; but it shall be for those; the wayfaring wondering to and fro men, though fools, shall not stagger or go astray therein.” Comment: This is a fascinating scripture! The unclean, polluted and defiled shall not pass over to it yet there shall be a way for the wayfaring, stumbling running to and fro fools! So the bums, fools and staggering wanderers will not go astray but find cleanliness and redemption! So who cleans them up? The lost people who recognize they need a savior and cannot save themselves but trust in their God for Salvation cross over into eternal life! The other group who trust in themselves, their title and position in life through human achievements and their own efforts will not cross over into eternal life!
