Who are the Nicolaitians? The word in the Greek means the conqueror of the people! Specifically in the Church of God! They are only referred to twice in the Book of Revelation. Both the church at Ephesus and the Church at Pergamos had the same problem! (Verse 2:15). The Nicolaitians were Bishops and prelates of the church gaining a triumphal victory over the laity! This is the very sin that brought forth the Reformation! It is mostly responsible for all our denominational and non-denominational churches around the world! The Nicolaitians compelled and forced church members to submit to the arbitrary dominion of men who have become the ones which the eternal hates! The Apostle Peter warned us that those who are leaders among God’s people must not dominate the faith of others but rather exhort them to do right! (1 Peter 5:1-3). The Nicolaitians are people in the church who have established a hierarchy of power and dominion under a government of ecclesiastical rulers! Comment: Yes! God hates these folks! Correction is very different from condemnation! We take the word disciple from the word discipline. Jesus used the techniques of correction and commendation very effectively! We as parents either tend to over correct and under commend or over commend and under correct! Everything I do cannot be right and everything I do cannot be wrong! That is why I need a Savior! My experience in ministry over the past 45 years has shown me people do not like to submit to authority! This is the nature of Satan! Most people will submit to authority if commended and corrected in love! However some will never! Hell is reserved for these folks! Why will some never submit? Because they want to replace God! This explains why the world is a war! War on God! Jesus asked the churches at Ephesus and Pergamos to repent! Sunday our Pastor Oscar Cope made an important point to us in his sermon! Biblical versus Civil Law!
But hereof be assured, that all is not lawful nor just that is statute by civil laws: neither yet is everything sin before God, which ungodly persons allege to be treason. John Knox (1514-1572) Comment: No one could probably understand this better than the Colorado Bake shop owner who was fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple! Then after a Supreme Court victory is still being harassed by Colorado State government? This is another ungodly civil law that when passed into statute the ungodly go after the Godly with harassment, threats of violence and civil court actions! John Knox also experienced this first hand as one of the leaders of the Reformation as Queen Bloody Mary of England took him to task! No history is new with man but just repeats itself! This is why God’s only Son Jesus Christ had to make a one way trip to the Cross for our sin! Many civil laws such as slavery, Jim Crow and others were at one time civil statute in our nation! Through a costly civil war the tide was turned! All civil laws that oppose the scriptures will be eventually overturned like abortion but often it comes with a great price! John Calvin Comment: This is not a good attitude to have to win Jews to Christ? Yet the Protestant Reformation carried out the same persecution of the Jews that the Catholic Church did? One of the greatest benefits of the Reformation was getting the printed Gospel into the hands of the common people like you and me! With the aid of the printing press the Bible was mass produced in English and other languages and distributed to the people to read for themselves! This was probably the greatest revolution of history! Prior to this the Bible was in Latin and only read and interpreted to the people by the Catholic Priests! During the Reformation Martin Luther thought the Jews would come to Christ but he was wrong! In his anger he also set up persecution to the Jews! It was culminated 400 years later for Germany with Hitler! The reformers helped clean up the corruption in the Catholic Church! However during the 30 Years War between Catholics and Protestants we had 8 million casualties! The Truth does not come cheap! The Apostle Paul was a Jew and he became so upset with the Jews that he decided to take the Gospel to the Gentiles! If Jesus being a Jew could not reach the majority of Jews while here on earth who are we? Jesus disciples were Jews who gave us our New Testament! Marks and Engels were atheist Jews! Darwin the atheist was a Jew! Einstein was a Jew! The majority of Jews here in America today are atheists and support with their millions of dollars Democratic left wing causes! Christopher Columbus was a Jew! He was a believer in Christ! Peyton Manning and Robert Kraft owner of the Patriots are Jews! The Orthodox Jews here in America by 90 percent are conservative and vote Republican! So we support what we believe about God! We know from scriptures that the Anti-Christ will be Jewish and gay! Do you think the Jews would trust a Gentile to go into their re-built Temple in Jerusalem? During the 7 year Tribulation period in history many Jews will come to Christ! As with the Apostle Paul the scales will be lifted from their eyes! All the critics say where will it stop? Will Mount Rushmore come down? Looks like Christopher Columbus is next? Well the Christian will say this will not affect me and my family? What about your Bible? Your Bible is a history Book! During Adolf Hitler’s rise to power Bibles were burned in the streets of Germany! Germany moved from the Martin Luther founder of the Reformation Movement to Adolf? The enemies of America want our history erased and changed! The success story of the Judean Christian foundation of America is more than the left can tolerate! They are working hard to turn America into an atheist culture removing all Christian heritage! This Bible is for the government of the people, by the people and for the people! John Wycliffe (1320-1384) He is most notably known as the Morning Star of the Reformation! He translated the Bible from Latin to English! He rejected the Doctrine of Transubstantiation! He sacrificed his life fighting for the common man and the abuses of the Clergy! Printing Bibles in English and getting them into the hands of the common man was a threat to the aristocracy! Thanks to John Wycliffe we have our English Bibles today! The principalities and powers of darkness declared John a heretic and dug up his corpse and burned it and scattered the ashes into the River Swift that flows through Butterworth England!
Pray For Our Leaders 1Timothy2:2 2Peter2:17
Did Paul and Peter pray for their leaders? I assume they did yet they were executed by Caesar! Some of their best works were written from prison! The authorities did not like to keep Martin Luther King Jr. in jail too long because he was working on his next speech! During the civil war Pastor’s and their congregations north of the Mason-Dixon line were praying for the north to win while Pastor’s and congregations south of the line were praying for the south to win! They were both praying for their leaders! A famous German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed by Hitler but I assume he prayed for Hitler. Some of our famous reformation leaders were burned at the stake by their King! I assume they prayed for them! Jesus called his political leader Herod a fox but prayed for him! He called the religious rulers of his day a generation of vipers but prayed for them! Do we pray for ISIS leaders? What would be your prayers to those who were about to behead you! Father forgive them for they know not what they do! Different from prayers of the west? Father give me a big house, big auto, big money and fame and fortune! Jesus taught us how to pray! I love this prayer because it is not a political prayer! I personally have one leader or ruler and Savior and His name is Jesus Christ! I am loyal to one Kingdom and that is the Kingdom of God and His Christ! It is so funny I have a friend in Colorado Springs who was my military boss back in the 1970’s. We are both retired and meet once a month and tell old war stories! I told Kenny we were praying that our house would sell so we could move back to Georgia. Kenny told me he was praying that our house not sell and we stay in Colorado! I told Kenny you are my friend but not my prayer partner! Our prayers should be in agreement with God! We usually pray for an outcome. Do we always get it? God’s will is often different from our will! To deliver us from evil means not to partake in promoting evil!
