Revelation 4:1 “After this I looked, and behold, a door was opened up in heaven; and the first voice was like a trumpet talking with me, which said, come up hither; and I will show you things which must be hereafter.” Commentary” Revelation chapter four is not the only place heaven is described in your Bible but a beautiful show here! Verse one is an introduction! A trumpet is used to announce a King! It is also used to announce judgments as in the 7 plagues upon the earth found in this same Book of Revelation! John is invited to heaven! Some of his reward for suffering under Caesar! What is the hereafter? Heaven and also the end times signs! Remember the Feast of the Trumpet in the Old Testament? The end times will bring the end of human rule and the absolute rule of Christ on earth after his second coming! History has shown us the rule of men has not gone well! Plagues! Wars! Famines! Death! Destruction! Persecutions of God’s elect! We can either trust God or man! Man will betray you but not God! He is faithful to deliver you out of all your troubles! When we are wounded by the sin of men we better understand the wounds taken on by Christ at the Cross for our sin! He was wounded for our transgressions! When these wounds were given to Christ for us he can promote us into his Kingdom! Forgive and love your enemies! Wounds inflicted by ourselves and others humble us! The Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation while in prison! A prisoner on a remote Isle of Patmos working as a slave laborer in a stone quarry! He was placed on a rock pile! His night job was writing the Book of Revelation! John by vision was able to look into the future! We must do the same when the present days are so perplexing! God holds your future! Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you and I am coming again! There is a purpose in suffering! The Kingdom of God is a sacrificial system beginning with the suffering of God on a Cross for you! Either God or sin will control you! You can reject your sin and choose Christ or you can reject Christ and miss heaven defaulting to hell! It is up to you! Your future depends on one choice! Look Forward not Back!
The greatest weakness in the church today is that the servants of God keep looking over their shoulder for the approval of men! R.C. Sproul Comment: Jesus had his moments of popularity and then they killed him! Approval of men can lead to the disapproval of God! Favor with God does not guarantee me favor with men! Liberation theology is really a denial of the Holy scriptures! The church in America today is walking on a tight rope! God does not oppose men but our sin! God has created man and has provided us a way to be acceptable to him! This is why Christ went to the Cross! We live in a world today where people work very hard to deny their sin! Cultural norms today in America promoting gay marriage, lesbianism, transgenderism and abortion oppose God’s laws! It is useless to make a law that opposes God’s laws! Church leaders who join Satan in promoting these sins is blasphemy! If our desire is to be popular with men we can never please God! We can either identify our sin as defined in scripture and repent of them through Christ or we can deny our sin and reject the Christ who sacrificed himself for your sin! It is a matter of who do you reject? Reject your sin or reject Christ! Reject your sin and accept Christ! You cannot have it both ways! Which is it going to be? One way leads to eternal life and one way leads to eternal damnation! Where you want to spend your eternity is up to you! Heaven or Hell! The big lie is to deny Christ for then you are denying Heaven and Hell! No bigger fools have lived on the earth! The bed we make we have to sleep in! O’ Jerusalem if I should not remember thee; let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy! Comment: Where was the first church on earth? Jerusalem! The Apostle Peter was the Pastor of the Jerusalem Church! Where will be the last church? Jerusalem with the return of Christ at his second coming and the end of the church age! The church age was established by Jesus to maintain his body of believer’s in the earth until his return. To ignore Jerusalem is to deny your faith! Your faith began there and will consummate there with Christ’s return! Jesus is not returning to America or Utah or China, Russia, UK, or any other nation except Israel! Do you now understand why much of the world wants to destroy her! If you really have the courage to fight for your faith you fight for Jerusalem! The Crusader’s acted on their faith! They did not live in a theology based theory! This is why President Donald Trump moved our U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem! Look Up Zion! Jerusalem! Isaiah 51:6
Hebrew Translation: “Lift up your face, eyes, voice and soul and accept the census taken in Heaven! Look to my lofty Heaven where my rainbow defines my archway to my dwelling place! Look upon the earth that dwells underneath me and my people of Zion! The Heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment. They that dwell therein shall wither, decay and die an unnatural death because of sin! However my salvation of victory over death, prosperity, comfort and safety shall be forever! The forever that is hidden from your sight right now but was before the beginning of the world! Your vanishing point will be your new beginning where my righteousness of justice and honesty shall not be confounded, broken or despaired with fear!” Comment: Isaiah was preparing the Jews 650 years before the birth of Jesus Christ for their Messiah! Looking Forward! 1 Esdras 5:38-39
When the Jews returned from Babylon captivity by the favorable Decree of the Persian King Cyrus they met many challenges to rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem! Here is a quote from verses 38-39. “Since they were unable to prove their ancestry, they were not allowed to function as Priest’s. Nehemiah the governor told them that they could not eat food offered to God until there was a High Priest who could use Revelation and Truth.” Comment: Ancestry was everything to the Jews! Tradition was the foundation of their life and worship! If you could not prove your ancestry as many Jews could not after returning from 70 years of Babylonian captivity you could not participate in Temple worship! Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses were in the Religious Hall of Fame! Rightly so! Jesus really threw the religious Jews a curve ball when He told them they must be born again! Jesus the High Priest with Revelation and Truth was looking them in the face but they did not get it? The religious leaders seemed blind? Yet the simple Jews such as Peter saw the light! How far does Jesus ancestry go back in time? All the way back to the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve! Remember the Tree of Life in the Garden? His humanity took their sin and fast forwarded it to you and me! His Divinity delivered you and me from sin! His humanity was sacrificed for you and me! Jesus was a Jew and of the tribe of Judah! That is prophetic! Ancestry.com should be renamed Death.com! Why were the Persian Kings (Iran), favorable to the Jews? The 3 wise men were from Persia! King Cyrus and Darius were favorable to the Jews! Why? God spoke to them! Why is present day Persia (Iran), not favorable to the Jews but want to destroy them? Very simple! Islam that came along in 650 A.D. Islam has given all of its followers a religious backing to kill. The Persians also invented the crucifixion so they prepared the method for the sacrifice for Jesus! Let us look forward! Is your name written down in the Book of Life? (Revelation 3:5) Are you born again? Washed in His blood? Jesus promised us to go prepare a place for us! Jesus Return with Signs! Luke 21:25-27
Verse 25: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.” Comment: What are signs? Are they like signs along the road giving us directions? The word translated from the Greek means miracles! Like the star over Bethlehem! Signs are miracles which lead to something out of and beyond themselves! They are miracles which have a ethical and moral purpose! These miracles are not so much for what they are but for what they point too! These miracles indicate the Grace and Power of God in the higher Spiritual world. The word earth used here by Jesus means the part of creation that is man’s domain and the history transacted between God and man. What about perplexity? Is it Washington D.C.? It really means a quandary where there is no way out! So we have miracles, distress of nations and perplexity. Jesus wants us to focus on looking up to Him for the evidence of His signs and wonders! God is really saying through the solar eclipse coming that He is in control of all events and confirms those things to us with his miracles! Jesus is saying I will do the miracles in your life that are needed to sustain you and give you the victory over this fallen world! He wants us to look up not down! Look ahead not back! Israel Saved by a Prostitute! Joshua 2:1-3
This is one of the most fascinating stories in the Old Testament and carries over into the New Testament! This is a lesson for Christian’s to never write off a sinner! If we do that becomes a greater sin! Pride and self-righteousness! Rahab was a Amorite. The first part of her name, “RA”, is the name of an Egyptian God. The rest of her name means insolence, fierceness or broad and spacious! She was spacious and took everyone in! Rahab married Salmon one of the two spies she took in. She became the mother of Boaz, who married Ruth from whose son Obed, Jessie the father of David came, through whose lineage Jesus was born! In the New Testament Rahab is in the Hall of Fame when it comes to Faith! As Christian’s we need to remember God can use anyone and He does! The Bible says we are to confess our sin to one another! Mark Twain said if you do you will have no friends! He is right for I tried that once! If they were true friends they would still be my friend! What a friend we have in Jesus! Politics is the dirtiest occupation on earth! It got Jesus put on a Cross! However God is smarter than sin and nailed all our sin to the Cross!
