Greek Translation: “And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, behold, this child is laid for a foundation for the fall and the resurrection of the body from the grave of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (yea, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also): that the thoughts and reasoning of many hearts shall be revealed what was hidden.” Comment: Simeon prepared Mary for many things to come! Even the miracles Jesus would do would be spoken against? Even today many speak against our Christ? The sword would pierce Mary’s own soul as she watched the Crucifixion! Jesus would expose the thoughts of many hearts! Jesus came to expose our sin! Then to save us from our sin! Christmas is all about the Salvation of humanity! Something we could never do on our own! Christmas is a solid case against our guilt and then an unearned acquittal of our guilt! However some like King Herod, Judas and many today thought that by their own efforts they can hide their sin from God! So foolish as to get rid of the only one who could save them! Sin is a strong addiction! It brings out the worst in us! It compliments evil! Confession is difficult because people are in love with themselves but not God! It is all about making yourself God! You decide who lives or dies rather than dying to self and let God live in you! All false religion is about making yourself God! God became a human to make us fit for Heaven! Without Christ no amount of human effort will ever make us fit for Heaven! It will only prepares us for Hell. No one can forgive you except God himself! Just like a negative film it takes light to expose the true image! We were made in the Image of God but only His light can expose and correct the imperfections in our image! Destroying Images!
To destroy images is something every revolution has been able to do! Alfred Rosenburg, Sentenced to death by hanging at the Nuremberg Trials for war crimes. Known for his rejection and hatred of Christianity! Comment: Those in America promoting the tearing down of our historical images and defacing Jewish Synagogues and removing Crosses across our land have one motive! Revolution! To destroy our existing system of government and replace it with a revolutionary government! Rebellion is in the heart of man and only Christ can heal a wounded soul! Train Up! Proverbs 22:6
Hebrew Translation: “Train up; that is initiate, consecrate, dedicate and teach in community, a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Comment: The key here is to teach the child in the totality of the community! So what is the trinity of the community? It is first parents, church and school! The school part is where the rub can come in! If your children attend a public tax funded school here in America the children or young adults will be conflicted! That is they will be taught things there that will contradict what you teach them at home and in the Church! Creation versus evolution is one important example! The children will be taught that homosexual, lesbian and transgender gender is to be celebrated! Loyalty to America will be discouraged! Prayer will not be allowed! No Bibles in school! If your children attend a religious supported school whether Jewish, Catholic or Protestant their chances of confliction are greatly reduced! They will also be exposed to real academic training rather than social engineering! The Democratic Party gets their supporters and voters through the Public education system! Home schooling is an option! One third of all Harvard freshman are home schooled adults! I want to have my children miss out on school shootings, drugs and the violence in public schools! Twenty percent of all public high school graduates cannot read! Raising children is a real challenge but what complicates it is your children being taught atheistic ideologies from Darwin, Engels, Marks and others that oppose your Biblical view of life! Did you know there are real no atheists! Dinesh D’Souza who is a great Christian apologist has debated all the well know atheists across America at College and University campuses! What he discovered that these proclaimed atheists are not really atheists but are angry at God! For many reasons but usually goes back to their childhood! They may have lost a parent or both parents early in their life or some other crisis! So the way to get even with God is to raise up disciples who also will hate God as they do! This is the foundation of their atheism! The disciple James says even the Devil’s believe and tremble! Everyone believes but if anger rules your soul you need to repent because God loves you! You even have to give God a chance to show his love to you! To reject his love as Lucifer and 1/3 rd of the Angels did and lose Heaven as your residence is bankruptcy of the soul! Life (Zoe), Strongs #2222 This word refers to the principle of life in the spirit and the soul. It is distinguished from our physical life! It expresses the highest and best of what Christ is and which he gives to his Saints! It is the highest blessing of the creature! It is the eternal part of us that never perishes! Real Fireworks! John 8:12
Greek Translation: “Then Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the day that is never quenched! I am the light of the sum of all person’s that have ever lived or ever will live! He that moves quickly following me in time shall not walk in the darkness of unhappiness and ruin but shall have my light in your life, in your spirit and soul.” Comment: Notice Jesus light will never be quenched though much of the world tries to snuff out the light! As the fireworks are going off in our neighborhood it is beginning to rain! This light is temporary and will die with the rain! The word life used here in this passage means the soul and spirit set apart from the physical body! Jesus is speaking to the eternal parts of us of soul and spirit! The first time light is used in our Bible is at creation in Genesis 1:3. The Hebrew word used there is associated with Salvation, prosperity, wisdom and justice! Do you notice Jesus is the fulfillment of all of these characteristics! Our life is to embody this nature of God! Since Jesus defeated sin for us on Calvary the door is open to us to receive the nature of God with all His attributes! Treasure in Heaven? Upon the Earth?
Matthew 6:19-21 Comment: So what is the difference between earth and heaven? What did Jesus mean here? You might think you know the difference but let us look at the Greek root words used for these two English words! The word earth means the dust part of the earth! It does not include the above ground earth! However we are made from the dust of the earth! We will return to the dust of the earth! All the elements in the human body are found in the dust of the earth! Science confirms the scriptures of your Bible! The word heaven used here is also interesting because this word used here by Jesus means in a physical sense! It means the all embracing heaven beneath which is the earth. What does the word heart mean? It means every thought, reasoning, understanding, will, judgment, designs, affections, love, hatred, fear, joy, sorrow and anger of a human being! We cannot hide our heart from God! This is reason alone to repent of our sin! Misplaced values of the heart will lead to wrong choices! So what did Jesus mean when we put all these three words together? Jesus was saying do not invest your life in dust! Your earthly treasures will perish with your body! Jesus is saying the eternal part of us will never perish! It is your soul, mind and eternal body! Jesus will one day raise us from the dead! To invest treasures in heaven means to invest in souls here in the earth! Use your resources to reach people for Christ! This is why our Pastor Cope Sunday had an emphasis on Vacation Bible School for our children! This is why he had a Gideon’s International speaker at the pulpit to fund Bible distribution world wide! If you go after money and not soul’s you will become spiritually bankrupt! Separated from God! Will your treasure perish with you or grow the Kingdom of God here on earth? Love of Money! Ecclesiastes 5:11-17
This is what happens to those who love money more than God! The following are the five characteristics of people who are in love with money; 1. The more they have the more they want. 2. The more they have the more they spend. 3. The more they have the more they worry. 4. The more they have the more they lose. 5. The more they have the more they have to leave behind. Pastor David Jeremiah Comment: Solomon was the richest man that has ever lived on the earth! He had 700 hundred wives and 300 concubines or girl friends! If anyone knew the deception of wealth he knew! Learn from him who had it all but in the end he said it was all vanity! That is to no purpose! Jesus said the love of money is the root of all evil. I admire Pastor Jeremiah for his transparency in taking a Biblical stand on money, sex, Heaven and Hell. He is not a politically correct politician in the pulpit! He has my respect! Jesus offended the rich but had compassion on the poor! Judas lost his soul because of a love for money! Jesus told the rich man after he bragged to him how he keeps the law perfectly that he lacked one thing! Give all you have to the poor and come and follow me! But the rich man went away sad because his possessions had him! They owned him! Do not hang on to what you cannot keep! The way to keep money from owning you is to give it away! Do Not Touch Me! John 20:17
Sounds like my old girl friend! This statement Jesus made is different in the Greek rendition than we have in the English! Here are some notes from the Greek notation in my Bible. The verb “hipton”, the present imperative of hipto(681), should be translated, “do not continue to touch me.” It is “do not touch me” in the commonly translated and should have been translated if this verb had been in the aorist imperative, hapsou. So does it matter? It means Mary has already touched Him! I think anyone would have to want to touch Jesus after his Resurrection with the human curiosity of is this the real deal? Remember Thomas later in this chapter would not believe until he touched Jesus and felt the scars of His Crucifixion! In regards to the four pillars of redemption which includes Jesus birth, death, resurrection and ascension Jesus even though human fingerprints were all over the first three pillars did not want human influence on Him after the resurrection before His ascension! The Greek word touch means to intentionally touch to modify with influence on! God wants to modify our behavior but God wants no human influence on Him! We are not going to take this flesh we are living in to Heaven! The only thing that influenced my behavior away from God is my flesh! We leave it the grave for a reason! After Jesus resurrection He walked through a closed door to see His disciples! No physical limitations of the flesh! Jesus has transformed my life but death will finish the job! We cannot enter Heaven in this flesh so we have to be transformed from the worm to the butterfly! We do not die without a purpose! We live with purpose in Christ and we die with purpose in Christ! Your Best Friend Should Not Be You!
John 12:25 Greek Translation “He that has his best friend as his physical body shall be killed and destroyed eternally: and he that hateth his physical body in this world shall preserve it from danger unto life of the spirit and the soul apart from the physical body inheriting God’s life with eternal value and time.” Comment: Did you notice most of the advertising industry is based around your physical body? It is all about weight loss, hair loss, teeth loss, skin loss, ect. The cosmetic industry is a multi-billion dollar industry! Yet we will all physically die! Does that mean we do not care for our physical body? It means as Jesus said before the Cross do not let you physical body be your best friend! It will forsake you! It will be a corpse sooner or later with no value! We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit! God does not want us to pollute our bodies with sin and corruption! Love God and not your physical body! Jesus was saying death is the incubator for life! The eternal part of us is the spirit and the soul. We need to nourish this as the most valuable! Develop your soul as on a treadmill. Exercise your spirit and your soul! Practice Holiness! Use the time you have as a gift from God to lead other’s to Christ! Read and study your Bible daily! Pray daily! Spent time and money to reach the lost! Use your God given resources to support your local church! For those that make it to Heaven you will not be alone! Neither will those in Hell.
