Live Through Him!

1 John 4:9 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might[live] through him.” Commentary: A marriage would be a good example of one person living through another person! The two become one and the production of children! The word “live’ used in this scripture in the Greek means to live spiritually and eternally together! This word denotes a particular way of living. Christ quickens our mortal bodies! We live Holy and just justified by his sacrificial death on the Cross! Our mortality is swallowed up in the immortality of our Savior! His death for us brings his life into us! Death is conquered for us and our resurrection is guaranteed in his resurrection from the dead! God has a life independent of us so whether we live or die he always is! Eternal! We partake of his eternal life in relationship to us as he lives through us and we live in him! He is independent yet we are dependent on him for our existence came through him! We live under the constant guidance of his Holy Spirit! We receive as a gift what he has given us and what he is preparing for us! His plans become our plans! His will for us becomes our will regardless of what comes! We do not reject him because life gets challenging! Thy will be done! We trust him for our outcome according to his will! Not my will be done but your will be done! All things work together for good! His purpose for us is only found as we live in him! Let us look at the Apostle John! If the only snap shot of his life was to see him boiled in a pot of oil you might get discouraged! If you saw another snap shot of him being exiled to a slave labor camp on the Island of Patmos you could get discouraged! However as you read this scripture and the Book of Revelation written with the pen of John you would say I get it now! Every life is lived through someone else with very different outcomes! Who are you following? That person or spirit is living through you! I have decided to follow Jesus! James & Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Live by His Word!

Psalm 119: 8-9 “I will keep thy statutes, O forsake be not utterly. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to his word.” Commentary: All of us has probably been forsaken by someone! It means to be abandoned, put aside or left behind. You have seen the dog along the highway looking at each car thinking his owner is coming back for him! Eventually he gets hit by a vehicle! We have all been forsaken by someone! Whether a parent, spouse, friend, pastor, Rabbi, Priest, politician or any combination of mortal men! Remember Jesus words on the Cross! Why have you forsaken me? God did not abandon his Son but Jesus had to suffer for our sin on the Cross alone because we all had abandoned God! God has not abandoned you but Satan with his lies will try to convince you he has! Jesus is only one breath away from you calling on his name! He will never leave you or forsake you! How shall a young man cleanse his way? The same way an old man has to cleanse his way! God’s word  is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path! To follow God’s pathway he will light your way with his word! The other pathway is darkness! Stumbling in the dark! Word used here means God’s prophetic revelation to man! It is God’s spoken word recorded in your Bible! The Ten Commandments are God’s declaration to man as to how to live! To keep his word releases his promises to you! To reject his word is to release his judgment on us! Blessings or curses depending on what you do with his word! To be rejected by men will come but to be rejected by God only a fool would promote! Jesus was rejected and despised of men by the very people that he went to the Cross for! You and me! The love of God can never be better displayed than God dying on a Cross for his enemies! For you and me! Jesus said to love your enemies! This is not humanely possible but only to those that have discovered personally the love of God! His love to us is expressed through his word! Read it and discover it for yourself! Die to Live! Philippians 1:21

“For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Commentary: To live means to be alive naturally and spiritually together with Christ eternally! Your eternity begins here on earth! It means he quickens you with the power to live for him! To live with the God that is independent of all life yet creator of all life. He is the cause of life. Not to live as just an object of his creation but to live in relationship to him! To live in a particular way by faith apart from unbelievers! To “live unto righteousness” living unto righteousness and holiness being justified by the death of Christ on the Cross! Born to live or born again enabling you to live redeemed from a source outside of yourself! Christ living in you the hope of glory! Living a life no longer influenced by our evil and corrupt ways but transformed into his likeness! Living a new life redeemed from your past! A new beginning! All things are passed away and all things become new! Mortality puts on immortality! A new life bubbling with joy! Excited about life as a child! Full of zest and excitement with each new day! Living life like it is the first day on your new job! Fired from your old life of sin but now your new employer has given you the power and resources to succeed! Like a Chapter 13 bankruptcy! All your debts from sinful living are wiped away! All your mistakes wiped away! A fresh start! This time like Satan your old employer who wanted you to fail Christ wants you to succeed so bad he died on a Cross for you so you can have this new life! Jesus paid the price for your past, present and future! He is the same yesterday, today and forever! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

What Jesus Wants for Christmas?

Well, it is Jesus birthday so what does he want? Since I was a little child I always was asked what I want for Christmas? The gifts were for me! I though it was all about me! Jesus gave us the greatest gift but what do with it? Do I treat the gifts as precious? Could I give Jesus more of my time? The time is not mine because he created time! Could I give him gold like the wise men? The streets of Heaven are paved with gold and besides the scriptures declare he is more precious than silver or gold! Could I pray more? He is interceding for me right now at the right hand of the Father! Could I love him more? He first loved me! Could I live for him? He gave his life for me! Could I put sinners under his Christmas tree? Could I put the lost souls of this generation under his tree? Could I present worms turned to butterfly’s under his tree? Could I help to populate Heaven and earth with Saints! Forgiven sinners? Only by his power and grace! Can I do anything without Jesus? I can sin and live a selfish life away from him! I can work death instead of life! Because of him I do not have to do that! I think the best thing I can do for Christmas is receive his gift of Salvation and eternal life and share his gift with others! Happy Birthday Jesus! Pastor Oscar Cope, Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Fairburn, Georgia.

Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh!

What was done with these gifts? What did Jesus do with these gifts given to him by these Kings of the East? Since Jesus was only about two years old his parents Joseph and Mary had to decide! Did they give them to the poor? They were poor themselves! Did they give them to Herod paying taxes on them? Did they distribute them to a local charitable organization in Bethlehem? Did they give them to the local synagogue? They used these funds to finance their trip down to Egypt to escape the clutches of King Herod! They used these funds to live in Egypt for two years and returning to Israel after Herod died! Joseph used the funds to set up his business as a carpenter in Nazareth! God will always make a way for his people when there seems like no way! You say no way my friend? He is the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but by him! Wise men still follow him! Merry Christmas! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Wrath or Salvation? I Thessalonians 5:9-11

Thessalonica was the Crown Jewel of the Apostle Paul’s mission work! His preaching there achieved a numerous and socially prominent following! Paul and his companions in the summer of 50 A.D. had to leave the city! Paul’s sudden departure left the newly found church exposed to great persecution! Paul sent Timothy from Corinth to check on the congregation at Thessalonica. Timothy informed Paul at his return to him that the congregation was steadfast and had a zeal to spread the Gospel! However the church did have some internal problems with sexual relations and some theological issues. Some in the congregation thought that those believer’s that had preceded them in death would have a disadvantage over the living when the Lord returned! So the Letter to the Thessalonians was born out of the need for Paul to settle these issues with the Church there. Paul has made it clear in his letter that God has not appointed us to wrath! The word wrath used here means a punishment with revenge from men! Revenge is a punishment from men that satisfies them but also brings grief to the punisher! The wrath of men is the opposite to the Salvation of God! God took out his revenge on men for their sin by punishing his only Son Jesus Christ on the Cross! Wrath and judgment came upon Jesus Christ for our sin! This is why rejecting Jesus Christ is so serious an offense to God! In fact it is the only unpardonable sin! Judgment or Salvation? Heaven or Hell? The choice you make about Jesus Christ will cast your eternity forever! Jesus is not an option unless you want the consequences being separated from God forever! Jesus is Judge of the living and the dead! He will be your Judge or Savior! The choice is yours to make! Keep in mind in Hell there are no more choices! In Heaven as the Angel’s who are created beings like us still have a choice! Lucifer made his choice to reject God but do you want to follow him to Hell? Jesus took our place on the Cross and took our Judgment upon himself! If Jesus does not take your Judgment you will take your own Judgment! Paul went on to clarify that whether we wake or sleep we live together with him! The word live from the Greek means that God through his Son Jesus Christ causes us to live righteous and Holy physically, spiritually and eternally in him! Paul goes on to say we need to comfort one another! We as the Church need to come to one another’s aid! To comfort one another together as the Body of Christ! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Only 4 Weeks to Live!

Our Pastor challenged us with this question! If you had only 4 weeks to live what would you do? Would you do anything different in the next 30 days from what you normally do? John stood up in the congregation and declared he would go out and feed the poor with the money he had left in his savings account! Sally stood up and said she would pray! Pray! Pray! Pray for a healing and be closer to Jesus! Henry stood up in the congregation and said he would spend the last 4 weeks of his life over at his mother-in-law’s house!  He told the congregation it would be the longest 4 weeks of my life! Pastor Oscar Cope, Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Fairburn, Georgia.
