Deuteronomy 18:10-12 Let us discuss these verses first. What is meant by passing your son or daughter through the fire? This is human sacrifice! This was the practice of the Canaanites sacrificing their children to their gods! Modern day sacrifice would be abortion! Divination is divining a sentence on someone! A charmer casts magical spells on people. A witch is basically the same thing casting spells on people. Another word for this is a whisperer. A wizard conjures up familiar spirits. Remember King Saul asking the witch of Ender about his future? She did not tell him he was going to be beheaded? King Manesseh also inquired to witches and fortune tellers! A necromancer is one who raises spirits from the dead! They do this to make predictions about the future or in their ghostly help to make something happen. Kind of like the rabbits foot? How lucky was the rabbit? This occult practice was also called Black Magic and comes from the ancient Greek word for corpse necro or prophecy mancy. Comment: It is interesting I lived in India for 3 years and I saw these practices done in the Hindu Temples! I have a blog post on my experience inside a Hindu Temple. The Hindu Priests collect money from people to cast spells on other people. Say a husband wants to get rid of his old wife for he has found a young girl. Then he hires the Priest to cast spells on his old wife that she might die! This is a big money business in India! Funny thing is the opposing party will come to the same Priest and pay him money to cast a spell on his adversary! The Priest will ask more money from the second party! The Hindu Priest’s told me these spells do not work on Christian believers! They do work on everyone else! You might say it is Halloween everyday in India! Do I want to spoil some kids fun collecting candy? No! Did I trick or treat when I was a kid? Yes! What I want you to understand is the origin of Halloween! In Leviticus 18:3 God warned the Jews not to participate in the ordinances or statutes, decree’s, feasts and customes of the gentiles! Today here in America the orthodox Jews do not participate in Halloween but the secular Jews do! Now to the origin of Halloween. The druids were the members of the ancient Celtic culture! The words druid and Celtic mean magic! Remember the Boston Celtics? In the ancient Celtic culture they had Priests, magicians, soothsayers and fortune tellers! They were a high ranking professional class of people from Ireland, Briton, Scotland and Wales. When Rome invaded these area’s around 60 B.C., Caesar said the Celtic groups were performing human sacrifices! Not that Caesar was the Gold Standard for morality but this is what the Roman soldiers observed. Have you ever heard of the wicker man? The Celtics built large wooden idol’s in the form of a man. On top of the wooden beams they nailed wooden slats to form the image. So the center was hollow! Halloween! Then they put the human sacrifices inside and set it on fire! The hollow of your pumpkin has a fire or candle inside of it! The druid religious culture had no written communications only oral. It was a secret society! What are the rules? Criteria for sacrifice? The Romans pretty much wiped out the druids but their occult spirit lives on in culture! The immigration of the Irish to America during late 1800’s and early 1900’s brought Halloween and some of these cultural traditions even though most were Christians. In the Medieval age the remnants of druids opposed Christianity! Trick or Treat! I will hurt you unless you treat me? God says I love you even though you hate me! Let us close with Ephesians 6:12 “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the Rulers of darkness in this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” When children come to our door I put a Gospel Tract into their bags along with the candy! Cloudless Harps! Revelation 21:1-27
In the new heaven and earth there will be no sanctuary, temple or church! Yes unemployed Rabbi’s, Priest’s and Pastor’s! There will be no sun and no moon! Jesus is the light of the world! Remember at creation? Let there be light! No night there! No clouds there! We reflect the light of Jesus as the moon reflects the light of the sun! No sickness in heaven! No hospital’s, no doctor’s, no nurses, no pharmacy, no x-ray machines, no MRI scanners and no chemo therapy! No sadness in heaven! No more tears! No tears of wasted lives! No tears of pre-mature death! No tears for suicides! No graves! No undertaker’s! No cemetery! No stone cutter’s! No wreath maker’s! Also no separation in heaven! No more farewell parties at the airport! No crying for departed loved ones! No more sea of separation! Remember the Apostle John who wrote this Book of Revelation? He was imprisoned on the island of Patmos surrounded by a sea! He longed to be with the seven Churches but was imprisoned as a slave laborer in a marble stone quarry! No prison’s in heaven! No more condemnation in heaven! I will pray for you but the reason for all your problems is because of sin! No prayer in heaven! Last no more sin in heaven! No military, no police departments, no FBI. no CIA, no NSA. The unrepentant sinners will be separated from heaven in the Lake of Fire! No dirty words spoken in heaven! No disobedient thoughts and actions! No acts of revenge from unrepentant sinners expressed in violence! Yes, cloudless harps! We will be in constant praise to our King in heaven! Sound boring? Then try the Lake of Fire where the worm never dies and the fire is never quenched! You cannot have one foot in heaven and one foot in hell? You have a choice as long as you have breath! Looking Forward! 1 Esdras 5:38-39
When the Jews returned from Babylon captivity by the favorable Decree of the Persian King Cyrus they met many challenges to rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem! Here is a quote from verses 38-39. “Since they were unable to prove their ancestry, they were not allowed to function as Priest’s. Nehemiah the governor told them that they could not eat food offered to God until there was a High Priest who could use Revelation and Truth.” Comment: Ancestry was everything to the Jews! Tradition was the foundation of their life and worship! If you could not prove your ancestry as many Jews could not after returning from 70 years of Babylonian captivity you could not participate in Temple worship! Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses were in the Religious Hall of Fame! Rightly so! Jesus really threw the religious Jews a curve ball when He told them they must be born again! Jesus the High Priest with Revelation and Truth was looking them in the face but they did not get it? The religious leaders seemed blind? Yet the simple Jews such as Peter saw the light! How far does Jesus ancestry go back in time? All the way back to the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve! Remember the Tree of Life in the Garden? His humanity took their sin and fast forwarded it to you and me! His Divinity delivered you and me from sin! His humanity was sacrificed for you and me! Jesus was a Jew and of the tribe of Judah! That is prophetic! Ancestry.com should be renamed Death.com! Why were the Persian Kings (Iran), favorable to the Jews? The 3 wise men were from Persia! King Cyrus and Darius were favorable to the Jews! Why? God spoke to them! Why is present day Persia (Iran), not favorable to the Jews but want to destroy them? Very simple! Islam that came along in 650 A.D. Islam has given all of its followers a religious backing to kill. The Persians also invented the crucifixion so they prepared the method for the sacrifice for Jesus! Reformation & Anti-Sematism! Romans 1:16
Their (The Jews), rotten and unbending stiffness deserve that they be oppressed unendingly and without measure or end and that they die in their misery without pity of anyone! John Calvin Comment: This is not a good attitude to have to win Jews to Christ? Yet the Protestant Reformation carried out the same persecution of the Jews that the Catholic Church did? One of the greatest benefits of the Reformation was getting the printed Gospel into the hands of the common people like you and me! With the aid of the printing press the Bible was mass produced in English and other languages and distributed to the people to read for themselves! This was probably the greatest revolution of history! Prior to this the Bible was in Latin and only read and interpreted to the people by the Catholic Priests! During the Reformation Martin Luther thought the Jews would come to Christ but he was wrong! In his anger he also set up persecution to the Jews! It was culminated 400 years later for Germany with Hitler! The reformers helped clean up the corruption in the Catholic Church! However during the 30 Years War between Catholics and Protestants we had 8 million casualties! The Truth does not come cheap! The Apostle Paul was a Jew and he became so upset with the Jews that he decided to take the Gospel to the Gentiles! If Jesus being a Jew could not reach the majority of Jews while here on earth who are we? Jesus disciples were Jews who gave us our New Testament! Marks and Engels were atheist Jews! Darwin the atheist was a Jew! Einstein was a Jew! The majority of Jews here in America today are atheists and support with their millions of dollars Democratic left wing causes! Christopher Columbus was a Jew! He was a believer in Christ! Peyton Manning and Robert Kraft owner of the Patriots are Jews! The Orthodox Jews here in America by 90 percent are conservative and vote Republican! So we support what we believe about God! We know from scriptures that the Anti-Christ will be Jewish and gay! Do you think the Jews would trust a Gentile to go into their re-built Temple in Jerusalem? During the 7 year Tribulation period in history many Jews will come to Christ! As with the Apostle Paul the scales will be lifted from their eyes! Covetousness? Jeremiah 6:13
So what does covetousness mean? It is a word in the Bible and it is something i do not want to do! I always thought it is just wanting someone else’s stuff? However according to the Hebrew definition it is much more than that! It is to gain through violence! It is dishonest gain or plunder! Like aborting babies and selling their body parts! Just before Israel went into captivity to Babylon this was the state of the people! This cancer affected the least to the greatest of people! Jeremiah went on to say it affected the Priests and Prophets also! They dealt falsely! Falsely means anything done with deceitfulness! To even do a right thing in appearance but with evil intentions! It simply means to lie with wicked intentions! So the whole Jewish culture was absorbed with covetousness! Were the Babylonian saints? They were even worse! God has a way to punish the wicked by sending someone to rule you that is even worse! History is full of Nations who have gone down this path! God will always have His voice through His Prophets to warn the people! I would remind America to listen to her Prophets as judgment will otherwise come! History and Faith! Joshua 10:12-13
If the Lord did stay the sun for a whole day then this should show up in historical records of other cultures because it would affect the whole earth! The records of the Chinese during the reign of Emperor Yeo, who lived at the same time as Joshua reports a ‘long day’. Heroditus, a Greek historian wrote that an account of a ‘long day’appears in the records of Egyptian priests! Another record in Mexico reports the same standing still for an entire day denoted as ‘seven rabits’, which is the same year as Joshua defeated the Philistines! The historical record of the Aztecs, Peruvians and Babylonians speak of a ‘day of twice natural length’. History and science support our Bible and it is the most dependable literature in existence! A Prophet Like Moses! Deuteronomy 18:15-19
Only Abraham was called a prophet before Moses. A prophet is one who is called by God and can only proclaim what the Lord has given him to say. A prophet could not contradict the Law or speak out of his own mind or heart. What a prophet spoke had to come true! A prophet is visionary and perceptive. Prophets are also connected to music as in the case of King David. A prophetess like Miriam or Debra had the gift of songs. The identity of the unnamed prophet was revealed through other scriptures both in the Old and New Testaments of your Bible. By Jesus day, the Jews had developed a clear cut expectation of a yet future figure who would fulfill Moses words. Priests and Levites from Jerusalem asked John the Baptist if he were, “the prophet?” John denied it but pointed to Jesus Christ! Everything that Jesus has prophesized about himself and future events has or is coming to pass! Jesus also warned us about false prophets! If you reject the true prophet then you will be deceived by the false prophet! I believe the false prophet who aligns himself with the anti-Christ is Islam! Islam is deceiving many of youth today and alluring them into his death trap! The power and authority of Christ will overcome this evil one and has also promised us victory over all our enemies! Our sin is the first foe He has defeated! Every new day is an appointment with Christ as He reveals His plans for our lives! Your eternity began the day you received Christ as your savior! You will complete your mission here on earth and then go back to Heaven to the place He has prepared for you! Your purpose in Christ is never over and is as eternal as God Himself! Thankyou. Jesus Prays in Gethsemane Matthew 26:36-46
The word Gethsemane is a Hebrew word that means an oil press. Gethsemane was an olive garden with olive trees with an olive press most likely located on the western slope of the Mount of Olives. Have you ever been severely pressed in your soul, mind and body? Ever feel like you are being squeezed to death? Combat soldiers in battle experience this as death knocks at the door. If you were being executed for a crime you committed you could rationalize that I deserve it. If you were being executed for a crime you did not commit would you voluntarily step forward for execution? That is what Jesus did for you! Jesus and His disciples entered the garden late at night. Cold and darkness surrounded them as Roman soldiers were in the hunt for them. Jesus takes Peter, James and John into the interior of the garden with him to pray. While Jesus prays he becomes exceedingly sorrowful even unto death! Let this cup pass from me but if not your will be done. Meanwhile the disciples fall asleep? Jesus cautions his disciples to watch and pray and not to enter into temptation for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Jesus prays again the second time the same prayer. The disciples fall into sleep again! Jesus prays again the third time the same prayer. Then the Chief Priest, elders and soldiers come and take him away. In Jewish culture if you say something three times that is the most you can say it. Peter do you love me? Peter do you love me? Peter do you love me? On the third day Jesus rose from the dead! Three strikes and your out. Jesus spoke to the mountain on the mountain three times and then He let God’s will and providence for His life and purpose be done! Let not our prayers be a fire escape but let His will for our lives be done so that others may benefit! When olives are squeezed they produce oil which is used for light and heat. Ukraine Priests Take Stand On Firing Line!
Yes, Ukrainian Priests are joining the revolt against Russian rule and are fighting for independence! Did you know that of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence 27 of them were trained Pastors! There was also a great revival going on in the Colonies at that time. Did you also know that the first shots fired in the American revolution were fired by Pastors and church members! Let me quote American History for you: On April 19, 1775, British troops, some 800 strong, were dispatched to Concord, Massachusetts, to arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock and to seize a cache of weapons stored in Concord. When Dr. Joseph Warren sent Paul Revere to warn Pastor Jonas Clark (in whose house Adams and Hancock were staying) that the Crown’s troops were on their way to arrest the two men and seize the guns at Concord, he alerted the Church members of about 60-70 men from the Church of Lexington. The Church members stood on Lexington Green waiting for the Red Coats. Upon spotting the citizen soldiers a British officer demanded they lay down their arms. They refused and the British opened fire! The colonist returned fire and eight were killed and there begins the shot heard round the world! Unquote. History is filled with Christians fighting for freedom! Pastor Martin Luther King was probably the greatest freedom fighter in my generation! If you study our Declaration of Independence you will see it is full of Bible Theology and has a Biblical foundation!
