Why Did Jesus Say Buy a Sword? Luke 22:36

I have probably read every commentary on this scripture! The words Jesus told His disciples probably have more meaning now that America is becoming more lawless ! The American Christian would have a different interpretation on this scripture than a Christian living in Iraq or Syria today! Ask the Kurdish Christian about this passage! Jesus also said those who live by the sword will die by the sword! Meaning those who use weapons for violence rather than self-defense! Peter has a knife and used it well but Jesus rebuked Peter? Why? Peter was trying to keep Jesus off the Cross! Some commentators say it is just an allegory? Like ObamaCare? The law does not really mean what it says so goes the Supreme Court! Jesus was preparing His disciples for their journey after His resurrection and ascension! They would be traveling into dangerous areas to take the Gospel! Interesting that earlier Jesus told them to take nothing on their journey? However, Jesus was with them! Now he is leaving but did promise them the Holy Spirit! Was Jesus for gun control? What would Jesus do? Question is what did Jesus say? We have that! Interesting that the cities and states in America that have the toughest strictest gun control laws have the highest crime rates! We have to interpret scripture within context and in context of other scriptures! The Bible interprets itself! Every Christian has to decide for themselves what Jesus meant when He said go buy a sword! Get provisions? Be prepared? I know what the scriptures mean for me and my house and you have to decide for your house! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Signs of the End! Matthew 24:7 Earthquakes

First our condolences to the families of Nepal in their great loss of life! God does not cause earthquakes! God does not cause physical death! Man’s rebellion and sin against God is responsible! But God has promised to raise us from the dead! According to the Bible there are many signs on the earth and in the heavens in the last days before Christ’s return that will be present. Here is a brief summary: 1. Increase of knowledge 2. Government ability to enforce the Mark (One world government) 3. Man of Sin revealed 4. Violence and sexual immorality 5. Rise of spiritualism 6. Massive animal deaths 7. Natural disasters 8. Unsealed prophecy 9. False Christ’s and prophets 10. World pushing for peace 11. War 12. Famines 13. Christians being killed 14. Increase in Sin 15. Christians departing from the truth 16. God destroys those who destroy the earth 17. The Gospel preached into all the earth. There are many scriptures that support these signs! Most all the signs are on us today! I want to talk about natural disasters today. There has been a 200 percent increase in natural disasters since 1979. Large earthquakes with a value of 5 or higher have doubled in 2014 compared to each year since 1979. You can see by viewing USGS stats page. As of February 22, 2015 there are around 3100 earthquakes happening every month! Remember Jesus on the Cross at the 9th hour when He gave up His Spirit in death? The earth was covered in darkness and then a great earthquake! The vale in the Jewish Temple was rent in two and the graves were opened and people were raised out of their graves and brought to life! This particular earthquake did not kill people but raised people from the dead! This is historical evidence that those who trust in Christ will be raised up! Remember that all will be raised from the dead! Some to everlasting life and some to judgment! Why does the earth quake? It longs for redemption! What you do with Christ will determine your outcome! Jesus Prays in Gethsemane Matthew 26:36-46

The word Gethsemane is a Hebrew word that means an oil press. Gethsemane was an olive garden with olive trees with an olive press most likely located on the western slope of the Mount of Olives. Have you ever been severely pressed in your soul, mind and body? Ever feel like you are being squeezed to death? Combat soldiers in battle experience this as death knocks at the door. If you were being executed for a crime you committed you could rationalize that I deserve it. If you were being executed for a crime you did not commit would you voluntarily step forward for execution? That is what Jesus did for you! Jesus and His disciples entered the garden late at night. Cold and darkness surrounded them as Roman soldiers were in the hunt for them. Jesus takes Peter, James and John into the interior of the garden with him to pray. While Jesus prays he becomes exceedingly sorrowful even unto death! Let this cup pass from me but if not your will be done. Meanwhile the disciples fall asleep? Jesus cautions his disciples to watch and pray and not to enter into temptation for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Jesus prays again the second time the same prayer. The disciples fall into sleep again! Jesus prays again the third time the same prayer. Then the Chief Priest, elders and soldiers come and take him away. In Jewish culture if you say something three times that is the most you can say it. Peter do you love me? Peter do you love me? Peter do you love me? On the third day Jesus rose from the dead! Three strikes and your out. Jesus spoke to the mountain on the mountain three times and then He let God’s will and providence for His life and purpose be done! Let not our prayers be a fire escape but let His will for our lives be done so that others may benefit! When olives are squeezed they produce oil which is used for light and heat. Jesus was squeezed so you could have light in the dark world we live in. Jesus was, is and always will be the light of the world! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

New Life Church Sermon Notes. June 23, 2013

Scripture; Matthew 5; 33-35 1. Mean what you say and say what you mean – Honesty, Integrity. 2. Low Trust = Many Laws. We hear out of Washington everyday the following; “We will write another law so this never happens again!” 3. High Trust = Few Laws. 4. Build trust in our families. 5. Lack of trust causes us to withdraw from relationships. In Jesus day no one could trust the Roman government. They deceived the people with unjust taxes, excess spending, bribes, deception, ect. The religious leaders in Jesus day also wrote more laws as trust declined. 6. Jesus gave us a new way of being human. 7. God is an oath maker and a promise keeper – No double talk. 8. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. Five common lies or exaggerations told by Christians; 1. I will pray for you. 2. It is great to see you. 3. I am doing great. 4. I have read all the above and agree with the terms. 5. I love you brother. Three questions arise when we hear one or more of the five statements. 1. Is he or she hyping something? 2. Is he springing something? 3. Is he trying to sell me something? People try to exaggerate and manipulate people. Insecurity causes exaggeration. Would you love me if you saw the real me? Adam and Eve hid from God. Our vulnerabilities project a lifestyle. To manipulate is selfish. Words are used in a deceptive way to try to get a desired outcome. The Bible calls it witchcraft. The witch uses shame, guilt, fear and twists words to get people to believe something that is not true. This is demonic. Powerful but demonic. God is truth and love and not shame. Talk openly to your children about the beauty of God’s creation including sex and the purpose of it. Adolescence who are shamed about sex will have a great difficulty entering into a healthy sexual relationship when they are married. Please see Ephesians 4:14-15. Speak the truth in love. How do we speak the truth in love? Answer the following questions. 1. Have you prayed for them? 2. Do I see good and potential in them? 3. Will I be helpful to them? 4. Am I rested? God made an oath and promises to us. They are as follows; 1. I will be with you always. 2. Nothing can take you from my Father’s hand. 3. I will not leave you as orphans. 4. I will send the Holy Spirit to you. 5. I will give you rest. 6. I will build my church. Comment; What we admire about Pastor Brady Boyd is his transparency! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. Wall Street Protests / Anti-Semitic

Comments by wall street protestor’s such as; Jews control wall street, Israel is a criminal pariah state and Jews need to be run out of this country are a warning that history is repeating itself again! While protestor’s are seen spewing hate against Jewish American’s where is the outrage from our political leaders? It is troubling to me when I heard our president say, “Martin Luther King would have supported the wall street demonstrations!” I lived on planet earth during the 1960’s! Never did Dr. King support violence or anti-semitics in his own life or in his work to restore civil rights! What concerns me most is the silence of the church? History is repeating itself again! As the world moves into greater socio-economic chaos every nation on planet earth has a history of blaming the Jews for their troubles! I believe the silence of the church as persecution rises against the Jews is due to their Theology! I am speaking about Replacement Theology. Many Christian’s in their minds cannot separate Israel from the Church! In fact the lines get so blurred that eventually they say the Church has replaced Israel! Then as in Nazi Germany the Church can look the other way when atrocities come against the Jews. Christ was a Jew and came first for the Jews! Even in the Book of Revelation after the Church is raptured in Chapter 3 we see God’s covenant promises being met to the Jews in the following chapters. Keep the Church and Israel as seperate subjects in your Biblical understanding! An attack on the Jews is an attack on Christ’s Church and an attack on God Himself! Thankyou. James Sasse.
