Hebrew? Genesis 14:13

Abram was first called a Hebrew in this passage. The name Hebrew means to cross over or pass over. We as Christian’s are immigrants because we belong to another world! The Jews crossed over into the Promised land! Our citizenship is in Heaven as we pass through this world! Heaven is our home as Jesus has promised to prepare a place for us. Do you live as though you are a stranger in a foreign land? Politics and world troubles do not bother me too much for they are side shows as I focus on my real home with my King that awaits there! In the meantime Jesus has promised us the Holy Spirit! Our purpose here is to point people to another world who has a King and a Kingdom waiting for them! We want them to cross over from death unto life as we have! The Cross has given us a Passover from sin to righteousness. There are two ways of living this life with two very different outcomes! One way is through the Cross with redemption working in every area of our life! The other way is to reject the Cross and suffer separation from God! Moses crossed over the Red Sea and Joshua crossed over the Jordan River! Today Israel stands as a nation a testimony to God’s faithfulness! Do you need to cross over in your life from drugs, addictions, fear and hopelessness? Then go to the Cross! Christ will take your burdens off you and He will carry them for you! What are you waiting for? In Christ’s Love. James and Hamsa Sasse GodWhoisGod.com

Ukraine Priests Take Stand On Firing Line!

Yes, Ukrainian Priests are joining the revolt against Russian rule and are fighting for independence! Did you know that of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence 27 of them were trained Pastors! There was also a great revival going on in the Colonies at that time. Did you also know that the first shots fired in the American revolution were fired by Pastors and church members! Let me quote American History for you: On April 19, 1775, British troops, some 800 strong, were dispatched to Concord, Massachusetts, to arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock and to seize a cache of weapons stored in Concord. When Dr. Joseph Warren sent Paul Revere to warn Pastor Jonas Clark (in whose house Adams and Hancock were staying) that the Crown’s troops were on their way to arrest the two men and seize the guns at Concord, he alerted the Church members of about 60-70 men from the Church of Lexington. The Church members stood on Lexington Green waiting for the Red Coats. Upon spotting the citizen soldiers a British officer demanded they lay down their arms. They refused and the British opened fire! The colonist returned fire and eight were killed and there begins the shot heard round the world! Unquote. History is filled with Christians fighting for freedom! Pastor Martin Luther King was probably the greatest freedom fighter in my generation! If you study our Declaration of Independence you will see it is full of Bible Theology and has a Biblical foundation! Our prayers for the Ukrainian people and their struggle for Independence from tyranny and Dependence upon God! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

U.S. Military Members Suffer For Our Freedom!

It is good to be living in a military community in the Colorado Springs area! Even though I served 13 years in the military I am guilty of forgetting those who have and are serving today. I have a neighbor Rob who I have come to know over past 9 months since moving to the area here. He was slow to warm up to me but when I offered to help him and saw me wearing my old camo-fatigues he was delighted. We have become good friends and I have invited him to some of our church services. I have shared some of my military experiences with him but Rob was subdued about his? One day about a month ago Rob opened up to me. Rob got a medical discharge from the Army. Here is how it happened. Rob deployed to Saudi Arabia with the Army for a short term working with the Saudi military joint exercise. Near the end of his deployment the Saudi military asked his commander if they could recover a Saudi military vehicle in a remote area of Saudi Arabia? The American Army commander complied and sent Rob and four other service members to recover the vehicle. Rob noticed when they got to the area this local village looked like a ghost town? No people? So they recovered the vehicle and brought it back to the Saudi military base. Within one week of recovering this vehicle Rob’s comrades all died! Rob went to a military hospital for two years! What happened? The Saudi military used this vehicle in a chemical attack on this remote village! Evidently this village was rebelling against the King so they got the gas. Rob even today has to take anti-anxiety medicine. Rob holds a part time job in the community. Here is the beautiful part of this story. I shared with Rob that due to my four back surgeries I cannot shovel the snow off our driveway. So everytime it snows Rob shovels my driveway! I have told him many times you do not have to do this! Rob simply says,”I always look for an opportunity to serve others!” Rob is still serving his nation and me! This is the Spirit of America that no enemy will ever defeat! Thankyou. A King In Zion ! Zechariah 9:9-17

Zechariah predicts a coming King of Zion, the Messiah! It begins with the scene of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. Remember Zachariah made this prediction 520 years before it happened! Remember there is no evolution with God! God does not get better with time! He made time and all history revolves around His plans for the redemption of man. His plans are revealed through His Word The Holy Bible. Jesus entry into Jerusalem and the people’s rejection of Him marks the end of Daniel’s 69th week. Briefly Daniel’s 70 weeks is a period of 490 years. This period of time began when Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem with the Jews from Babylon after 70 years of captivity. We have a gap of over 1900 years between the 69th and 70th week which is the Church Age. The 70th week will begin with the Rapture of His Church and the 7 year tribulation period and consummated by Christ’s second coming to earth. Zechariah’s prophecy then continues with a discussion of God’s dealing with Israel in the 70th week of Daniel. During the tribulation period Israel will no longer rely on military power but on the Prince of Peace who will exercise worldwide dominion over the entire earth. Conclusion; God stopped the clock so that during the Church Age gentiles would have the opportunity to accept Christ as Savior. This window will not remain open long for long! Why you still have time do not reject Christ but accept Him so you can spend the remainder of your life here and all eternity with Christ and a peace that this world can never deliver to you! When you look back your entire life will boil down to either accept Him or reject Him! Your life here and hereafter spent in Heaven or Hell rests with your choice! Be wise! Thankyou. Surprised By Joy!

This is the 3rd Sunday of Advent. The season of Advent helps us to shape and impact our culture. The Christmas story is ripe with revelation! Luke1:30 The angel appears to Mary! Of all the Prophets Isaiah had the most revelation about the coming Messiah! Isaiah Chapter 9. Isaiah focused on this Prophetic message. We have a gap of time between the old and new testament of 400 years. It is sometimes called the years of silence. About as much time as the Jews were in slavery in Egypt. No Prophets spoke and no further revelation was given during these silent years. The stage was set at the end of the old testament and the curtain was drawn. Is God silent in your life? Have you been listening for Him or just too busy? Then after 400 years of darkness the curtain is split in two! Light appears from darkness! At a time least expected! God will surprise you! Do you have an expectation from Him? God came into my life when I least expected it! Has He come for you? Advent is about Him coming to you! Do you need to welcome Him? When Jesus was born in Bethlehem wise men from the East following His star showed up in Jerusalem. King Herod heard about this and was very disturbed! He was rattled! Herod was jealous! King Jesus was a direct threat to him. Herod the Great was from Idumea and was a descendant of the Edomites who were the family of Esau. These descendants of Esau were always attacking Jacob’s family. Remember Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. After the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. the Edomites vanished from history. Herod ordered an abortion of all the children two years old and younger and knives thrust into the bellies women that were pregnant. Yes, the Devil believes in Christmas! The world worships power, position and influence. Not much room for a baby. It is interesting how God uses vulnerable people to accomplish His work! God uses two pregnant women to prepare the way for the Savior of the world! Do you qualify as vulnerable? Homeless, pregnant, broken, betrayed, on dope, rejected, divorced or disabled? Are you without hope? Then you qualify for God to use you in a big way! He is looking for people who will be testimonies for Him! Pass the test and trust God at His Word! The baby Elizabeth was carrying(John the Baptist), leaped for Joy in her womb when Elizabeth heard the news from Mary about her visitation and God’s plan for the King and Son of God to be born by her! Then Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit! Luke 1:39-41. Do not try to live without the Holy Spirit for He gives you the power to live a victorious life! Without the Holy Spirit you will be like the Pharisee’s who knew about God but did not know Him! Luke 2:25-26. Next an old vulnerable man named Simeon who was just and devout got surprised by the Holy Spirit with Joy and was told he would not die until he has seen the Christ. Luke 2: 36-38. Here we see Anna a Prophetess and widow most of her life who served in the Temple get surprised with Joy! Do you lack surprise? Is life dull and routine? Hopeless? Broken dreams? Remember Joy is a gift! God does not just give joy but He is Joy! In His presence is fullness of Joy! Joy is not happiness. Our Constitution says we have the right to pursue happiness! Happiness you have to pursue or try to chase down by your own efforts! It depends on the economy, politicians, health, ect. Joy is a gift and never earned! The price has been paid for you! Galatians 5:22. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. What are the enemies of Joy? Pride, self, criticism, sarcasm, ect. Do you find fault with everything? Do you leave any room for beauty? No room for Jesus in your Inn? Have you been wounded or hurt by someone? See the beauty of God! No one on earth loves you like Him! He will never leave you or forsake you! He is different from us! I am not offering you a Christian but Christ Himself! Never lose your fascination, awe and wonder for Him! Go for beauty and be surprised by Joy! Joy is a person and not a benefit! The Holy Spirit is a person! The benefits come with the person and not apart from Him! Psalm 16:8-11. Do not get fixed on our cultural problems. Important but not your focus! Rather than be a student of culture be a Worshipper of God! Set the Lord before you. Have fullness of Joy and pleasures forevermore! You can hear bad news but still have Joy. Turn off the news networks this season and enter into His rest! Focus on Christ! Spend time with Him! The word time means, :”To Honor.” Psalm 16:9 Rest in Hope! My heart is glad and rejoices. Joy is an inside job! Your body rests secure. An external God who gives internal pleasure. From without to within! Joy comes at unusual times and unusual places through unusual persons! Is your heart prepared to be surprised by Joy? Source; Sermon notes taken from message given by Pastor Brady Boyd at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Message given Sunday December 15, 2013.

Don’t Believe In Christmas? The Devil Does!

Excerpt from a Christmas message given by Martin Luther in 1530. He went on to say the Pope believes in Christmas but only for money! His message goes on for 4 pages. I will post some excerpts from it over next few days leading up to Christmas. Whether Martin Luther or Martin Luther King over 400 years later truth remains constant over time! Great people become targets! Merry Christmas! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com

Great Leaders Absorb Pain!

Whether it be Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi or Nelson Mandela much pain was applied to achieve their dreams! They did not seek revenge but forgave their enemies! However the ultimate example is God Himself in sacrificing His Son Jesus Christ for our sin! Jesus absorbed all the pain of the entire world with all our sin forever! Source; Pastor Rick Warren.

Abortion In Egypt! Exodus 1:17-20

Murder or genocide of minorities is nothing new to the history of man. This episode in Egypt took place thousands of years ago against the Jews. Today in America genocide is being done on African Americans through abortion. Over 40 percent of all abortions done in America are done on African Americans. Their population only represents 12 percent of all Americans. So they get over a 300 percent disproportionate increase in abortions over all other races. The other sad and tragic story here is the Democratic party tells them they are for them while promoting genocide against them with our tax dollars? Martin Luther King had a very noble dream but it did not include this nightmare! Let us together fight for life to remove this scar upon our land and pursue liberty and justice for all! Thankyou. Sermon On The Mount Series New Life Church

Matthew Chapter 5; The sermon on the mount is the most taught and least followed of all Jesus teachings! Jesus brings a new imagination ( image ) and a new people out of this sermon. Israel has a history of getting things wrong! They moved from holiness, sin, rebellion, repentance and back to holiness. The difficulty today is the church is just like Israel. Often we cannot tell the difference between the church and the world. Leviticus 18:1-4; God found us in Egypt! God did not want the Jews to be like Egypt or like Canaan. There are traps both in prosperity and bondage. Do not follow the practices of the world. The world is sinking sand. Build on the rock (Christ). The Jews wanted Samuel to give them a king. Why? Other nations had kings. We want to be like the world. God and samuel were greived. So they got Saul, David and a bunch of really bad kings out of forty. Ezekiel 20:6-8; It is possible not to lust, control your temper and live peaceably. Here is a summation of the sermon on the mount, “An invitation from Jesus to be like him and be set apart.” We are a covenant people serving a covenant God. As a mother feeds her baby through the umbilical cord so we are the branches attached to the vine. Moses could not follow the law! The sermon on the mount is not another set of rules. Jesus in you teaches you and enpowers you. John 15:5-6; Apart from me you can do nothing. Bare much fruit! Philippians 2:12; Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. God works in you! No individualism here but community. The disciples left the crowd but after Jesus changed their lives they went back to minister to the crowds! We are in covenant with God and the community. If we try by ourselves we will fail. Live with Jesus and others. No isolation from community in the covenant. The table of covenant is community. Together we servs the community. We serve each other and we serve Christ as He serves us! The Trinity of the covenant is serving community, each other and Christ!
