The rapture of who from where? The bride of Christ is his church taken from the earth to Heaven! Once his church is taken to Heaven the marriage is complete and the celebration begins! The Marriage Supper of the Lamb! All of heaven rejoices together! The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy! Another prophecy completed! So what is going on down on earth as this celebration is going on in heaven? The 7 year tribulation is going on with God unleashing his judgments upon those who have rejected his Son! Then at the end of the tribulation period Christ returns from heaven with the Saints and the angels to war against Anti-Christ, the false prophet and their followers in the last battle on earth called Armageddon! So the celebration in heaven is concluded with another celebration on earth as the foes of God are defeated and cast into the Lake of Fire! Even the ravens celebrate as they are filled with the flesh of men on earth! Then the one thousand year reign of Christ begins on the earth! This is the basic eschatology as outlined in your Bible about the end times! There are many more details found in your Bible in both the Old and New Testament but I am trying to present the big picture to help us understand the end times! The push today in the 21st Century is to try to get you to deny Christ and His Word! These events may not come to pass in your lifetime however you will receive the promises of the resurrection from the dead and living in Heaven to one day receive the completed church rapture! Who is Worthy?
Revelation Chapter Five: Commentary; Good question! I am glad you asked! It seems challenging for most to ask this question and more challenging to get the right answer! God does not give us multiple choice questions! You either know or you do not know! Do not feel bad this question seemed to be challenging in Heaven! The question in Heaven was answered by asking who was not worthy to open the seven seals of the Book to pour out judgment upon the earth! Notice some honorable mentions of those not worthy to open the seals! The Father was not worthy! The Holy Spirit was not worthy! The angels were not worthy! The twenty four elders were not worthy! The four beasts were not worthy! No man in heaven and on earth or under the earth was worthy! No King or priest in the earth was worthy! In our natural state all men on the earth are fit for judgment! All have sinned and come short of the glory of God! So who is our sin against! Our sin is against the Father! Our sin is not against the Son but the Father! Christ sacrificed himself on the Cross to reconcile you to his Father in Heaven! Christ provided a way of escape from your judgment! He took your judgment on the Cross! This is why the Father has rendered all judgment unto the Son! So only Christ in Heaven was worthy to open the Book after taking it out of the Father’s right hand and loose judgment into the earth! Judgment on who? Those that have rejected Christ! If we reject Christ then our sin expands not just against the Father but against the Son! This is an unreconcilable sin! This is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and the complete Trinity! You have now gone over the edge with no return! Now we have committed the unpardonable sin! Jesus said of Judas who betrayed Jesus it would have been better if this man had not been born! Why did Jesus say this? Because Judas chose to reject the only one who was going to take his judgment on the Cross! Had he not been born he would not have made a choice for eternal separation from God! However had Judas not betrayed Jesus someone else would have! You or me! This is why evangelism is so important as Jesus commanded us to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel! Do not let the popular culture try to conform you into being silent about Jesus! Jesus said Antipas is my faithful martyr! Antipas was the Bishop of the church at Pergamos during the reign of Roman Emperor Domitian. The Apostle John ordained Antipas as Bishop of the church at Pergamos. Antipas was burned inside an idol which was a bull shaped copper structure. His crime was casting out demons worshipped by the local population! Some of the hero’s of the Faith are listed in Hebrews Chapter eleven! Stephen was a faithful martyr listed in the Book of Acts! Antipas was most likely a Greek who converted to Christianity. Antipas is the shortened name of Antipater. Remember that was the name of one of Alexander the Great successful Generals. (397-319 B.C.). Remember Herod the Great was known by this name! Jesus will avenge the blood of the Saints! Why did Jesus call Pergamum Satan’s Seat? Even Ephesus with all of its advantages with the Great Temple and bustling port, could not match the importance of the once royal seat of the Attalids! Situated on a scenic acropolis Pergamum was embellished with the largest number of Greek and Roman Temples in the whole of Asia Minor! Examples are Zeus, Athena, Apollo, Demetia, Dionysis and Aphrodite. On another site was housed the largest Aesclepium of the Empire. Its library of two hundred thousand volumes rivaled the renowned library in Alexandria! The eminent Doctor Galen was among her favorite sons! Roman Emperors came to seek healing at the famous Aesclelpium! Aesclepium was honored as the god of healing in the classical world. When the cult of “Dominus et Deus”, was initiated at Pergamum, the great Basilica was erected, adding to the rostrum of numerous idol Temples! The visitor today Bergama (Turkish name of the present day city), will see the immense structure at the edge of the bustling center. Basilica became the monument of vice and cruelty! Every citizen was forced to burn a few grains of incense here and worship the Emperor of Deus. Then they would proceed to their preferred practice a common syncetistic act which never lacked its double-faced devotees! For anyone who refused to submit to this profane practice death was imminent! Where as the Temple of Zeus was referred by the early Christians as the “Seat of Satan”, the appellation was later transferred to this center where some Christians felt compelled to pay obeisance! This myth is sometimes referred to as the “British Israelism.” This myth is also anti-Semitic because it tries to deny Israel their homeland! Genesis 12:3 was never repealed! So in Revelation Chapter 7, we see 144000 Jews redeemed during the Tribulation period 12 thousand from each of the 12 tribes! Some of these tribes are in Israel today and some are living across Europe the United States and other countries! Many are migrating back to Israel. Who is the Woman? Revelation Chapter 17
It is believed the woman represents a religious system! She has birthed many religious systems! She is not a virgin but has many religious partners! Notice that the woman is drunk with the blood of the Saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus! She feeds on the blood of the Saints! These religious systems reject the Blood of Jesus for atonement yet feed on the blood of His followers! It was religion that killed Jesus and religion that martyrs the Saints today! Who Predicted End of World in 2060 A.D.?
Isaac Newton predicted this date in 1704 A.D. You can be sure he was not trying to sell a book! Newton was one of the most influential scientists that ever lived! He was also an ardent Christian and had a tremendous interest in end-time theology! He spent years in researching the Bible on the 2nd coming of Christ. Newton wrote over one million words related to his Bible studies! Newton based his prediction on Daniel 12:7. It was the phrase, “Times, times and a half times”, that caught his attention! He interpreted it to mean 3 1/2 years or 1260 days (also referred in Daniel 7:25, Revelation 11:3, 12:6, and 13:5. However Newton made a slight adjustment! He interpreted days to mean years -1260- years which marked the countdown to the end of the world and the return of Christ. What was his start date? Newton used the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire in 800 A.D. by Charlemagne. So the date was figured by adding 1260 to 800 to arrive at 2060 A.D. In Matthew 24:36, Jesus said we would not know the exact day or hour of His return! However, He said there would be important signs! Newton realized then that the restoration of Israel was a significant sign post to the end of the world! Theologians in Newton’s day thought Israel would be established as a nation in the 17th or 18th century. Newton predicted through his Bible studies that it would be much later! A Story Everyone Needs To Hear Again! Luke 2
This is an old story but is vogue today and has application above all the bad news we hear today! It is more than a warm feeling on a cold night! This is a radical, revolutionary story that has changed you, me and the whole world! This is the greatest story ever told to the world! How does a pregnant teenager tell her story? You could imagine social media buzz today if she tried to explain how God got her pregnant? What would Joseph tell the media? The shepherds were gathered around a small fire trying to keep warm and guard their sheep! An angel appears before them and tells them not to be terrified! Some of the shepherds were thinking my mommy told me not to be a shepherd! First one angel and then a host of them! God wants all people to hear the Good News! Notice Jesus birth was announced to people living on the margins! The church is to serve people living on the margins! The dignity Herod also heard the news but tried to kill Jesus! The angels through the shepherds spread the news! Shepherds were looked down on in their culture! They hung around dirty, smelly sheep! They were considered scavengers and thieves! David got his rough and tough training as a shepherd boy! If you want to take down a giant call a shepherd! They were the most unlikely people to hear the news first! Remember the lambs were raised to be sold to be sacrificed at Jewish feasts! The lambs were sold to be slaughtered! The lambs were destined to die for sin! The Good News for us and the lambs is that a greater sacrifice was born in Bethlehem. God said I give my life for you! Jesus came for the willing! Are your motives and plans for your life set in concrete? Do you have premeditated plans that leave God out of your life? This is a question we need to answer as we lead into 2015? Herod although a governor had no room for Christ and died a miserable death! Have you predetermined what you are going to do with your life? You have to be more than curious you have to be committed! Would you do anything God called you to do? Would you carry a baby for a Holy God? Why are we chosen? We get excited about the Royal couple and their baby and a baby coming out of Rome or Jerusalem! We must say yes to God even when we do not know the outcome! Are you ready to sign up? Mary was a virgin and told the people she was impregnated by the Holy Spirit! This never happened before and never after in history! Then they had to spend Christmas in Egypt to escape from Herod! Joseph and Mary were imperfect parents raising a perfect God! Do not divorce her! Joseph had to change all his plans! Love her, surround her and protect her. Joseph had a good job and business as a carpenter. I have to build my business! The Roman government requires a lot of Crosses! God has a plan for you and it usually is not your plan! You have to choose! It did not work out the way I thought but God’s plan is a perfect plan! For His plan for your life carries on into eternity! God takes the willing and builds character! Yes God I will go! How willingly Joseph and Mary obeyed! Faith is hard to explain? The natural mind thinks linear and logic does not fit! Sometimes Faith does not make sense? By Faith we let God fill in the blanks! Faith is not normal! The only thing normal in life is the setting on your clothes dryer! Could you raise God as a baby? Verse 17 goes on to say they worshipped Jesus then they went out and told everyone! The story of Jesus is now ours to tell! The angels appeared and then they diminished! Why fear the angels who are messengers? You are now the messengers! Popular culture has a fear about hearing the Good News? We have a story to tell to the nations! We all have a story to tell! With all the troubling news in the world we should be encouraged to tell the Good News! We will either tell or we will retreat? God is not looking for a perfect people to tell the perfect story! Today we are the messengers! Tell God’s story this week! How do we invite people to our Christmas Eve services? We have an amazing story to share with you and we invite you to come with us! We are caretakers of this story! The story is ours! We are the beneficiaries! We are now story tellers! Luke 24:46-49 You are witnesses of these things! You and me together go and tell! The Flying Bishop! Ezekiel Chapter 1
Bishop Milton Wright was President of two Bible Colleges and Bishop of two denominations here in America over his career! In the late 1800’s he had travel to the annual Bishop’s Conference. His son Wilbur drove him to the train station by horse and buggy. He boarded a steam engine locomotive for travel to the conference. As presiding Bishop things went well at the conference except for one crazy Pastor who had visions of men flying in machines! This Pastor disrupted the conference with his loud outbursts about this vision. Bishop Wright put this Pastor on probation and warned him he would not tolerate weird behavior in our denomination! When Bishop Wright got home he explained to his son’s Wilbur and Orville the strange vision this Pastor had at the conference! By the way boy’s what are those strange contraptions you are assembling in our barn? Boy’s please tend to your farm work and take care of our horses, cows, pigs and chickens! Boy’s our barn is starting to look like a machine shop? One thing I have learned for over 50 years of Bible study is that what we see on earth first existed in Heaven!
