Matthew 19:16-30 Comment: We are all familiar with this story! So how would the rich young ruler be treated today in the 21st Century church? He would be worshiped like an idol! He would be heralded for his success and highly lifted up in the congregation! Brother rich man if you would give 20 percent of your income to our ministry you will even become richer! What did Jesus tell the rich man to do? Sell all he had and give to the poor then follow me! This is a hard saying! The rich man could not do it and walked away sad! His wealth had him! A slave to wealth! What question did the rich man have that brought up all of this? The rich man wanted to know how to inherit eternal life? He thought he had this life all figured out so he was concerned about the next life! However he did not understand what he was doing in this life was holding him up in the next life! If I gain the whole world what profits me if I lose my soul! The love of money is the root of all evil! Easier for an elephant to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter Heaven! Why did not Jesus tell the rich young ruler to sell all he had and give to a ministry? Give it into the Temple at Jerusalem? The religious leaders had the same problem! Love of money! I thank God I am not rich! He gives us our daily bread and the cares of today are sufficient! You may think you can have money and not love it but that is rare as hens teeth! Think about God! Spend time in His Word! Be thankful for what you have! Remember the woman who anointed Jesus feet with the expensive perfume for his burial! Judas got upset! We could have sold this and given to the poor! Jesus said the poor you will always have with you! Judas wanted the money! The poor are always with us because the rich love their money more than God and doing what we should to help the poor! What am I doing to help the poor? Perhaps a mission trip through your local church would help you to have the opportunity to help the poor! Jesus paid the price on the Cross to prepare eternal life for you! Message to Churches! Revelation 1:5
Greek Translation: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful one worthy to be believed keeping his promises a witness having knowledge of everything. The first born of the whole creation being before and after all things. The first born for the spiritual dead. He is the Prince or chief ruler of the Kings of the people in the earth as part of man’s dominion in creation. Unto him that first showed his love toward men. And washed us from the sin that kept us from our true purpose of life in his own blood. His blood the life of all flesh.
Sunday Worship! Revelation 1:10
Greek Translation: “I, John was in the spirit when the breath of God blew on me! It was on the Lord’s day! It was Sunday the day and time of life that belongs to Christ! It is his day therefore I submit to my King and Ruler this day! This day is owned by my God!” Comment: Man’s day is in opposition to the Sabbath! Fifty years ago when I was a teenager about 90 percent of all businesses were closed on Sunday! What about today in America? I hear about more and more Christians telling me they have to work on Sunday? If the businesses stay open on Sunday then the employee’s will have to work on Sunday! Where was John in the 1st century when he received this revelation? He was in the Lord’s House on Sunday! Do not expect to hear from God if you forsake the Sabbath! It is like trying to catch a fish by casting your line on a sand dune in the desert! If you want to meet God you need to be where he hangs out! Now John’s church building could have been his prison! Peter and the Apostles spent time in prison but still honored the Sabbath! Turn your prison into a House of worship! If you do not want to be where God is then you may need to repent! If you resist Christ’s church here on earth you are also resisting him in Heaven! The separation from Christ begins here on earth and continues resisting Heaven! In American culture work has become the agent of resistance to Christ and Sunday worship! Most people move away from Christ gradually taking many little steps! Who Do You Trust? Psalm 86:11
Hebrew Translation: “Teach me by laying a foundation established and erect controlling me which leads me down the road of life. O Lord; I will walk faithfully and stable in thy truth; unite my heart in the totality of my inner nature to reverence and respect your name.” Comment: We like Jesus disciples have struggled with this scripture! Like Jesus disciples we sometimes do not walk stable following him! We waver in faith getting off the road that leads to life! The disciples would sometimes get off the foundation! Their heart was not always united with Christ! Reverence and respect for his name was not always there! Peter denied Jesus even though he told him he would die for him! He eventually did in Rome years later! Jesus told us to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel! We say let the church do it! Let an organization do it! Pay them so I do not have to do it! Our gift’s God has given us cannot be used unless we do what Jesus told us to do! At the feeding of the 5000 Jesus asked the disciples what do they have? The disciples wanted to send the crowd away! We do not have money to feed this large crowd? Cancel the meeting! Send them home! The disciples were perplexed? They can buy their own food! A little boy in the crowd came prepared! He had more than enough for himself! He had a little faith! Enough faith to give Jesus everything he had! The little boy gave his all! He had the gift of 5 loaves and 2 fish! Bring what you have to Jesus! God will multiply it! Let God bless what you have! Really what he has given you! Doesn’t seem like much but enough! He will multiply it to feed everyone! God is greater than what you have! Have you figured this out yet? Do something with what God has given you! With your life! Don’t waste it on drugs and go to work! With the left overs from a miracle you can feed even more people! Twelve baskets full! Israel had twelve tribes and Jesus had twelve disciples! God can build a nation out of left overs! God can build a church with left overs! God has more than enough for your family! He has more than enough for your church! God can bless you if you bring all you have to him! Peter build my church! Do you want to distribute God to the world? Or keep him for yourself? Sow the seed you have! Do not eat your seed! Share and multiply what you have! The rich young ruler was not able to do that? He valued his possessions more than God! I don’t need to tithe and make offerings? The possessions God had given to him he could not give back! If you give to God what you have he will do more with it than you ever could by yourself! The graveyard is full of excuses! Even David who wrote this Psalm waivered at times! Jesus never did! Wait on God but not on anything else! Do what God has called you to do! Help the needy and the lost! Go after those the world has rejected! Pray and agree with God! Jesus had every excuse to quit! The crown of thorns was very painful! The betrayal of his disciples was painful! His back cut open and bleeding was painful! His Cross was heavy! Your will be done! God’s will is not easy! Jesus had no excuses to die for you! Do you have any excuses not to live for him? He gave his all! Can you? Be faithful! Stand up for our flag and take a knee for Jesus in prayer! Judgment Free Zones? Isaiah 59:15
“Yes, truth faileth, and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey. And the Lord saw it, and it displeased the Lord by this evil that there was no judgment.” Comment: When any culture abandons Christ crazy things happen! This is just one of many! I saw on the News that a man committed a crime and his defense was he thought he did it in a judgment free zone? Whether it be sanctuary cities or judgment free zones the message is the same! If you live in the right zone you can commit crime and get away with it! Like God is not the ruler of the entire earth? Heaven and Hell is not a judgment free zone! Rather than repent to Christ and change your ways after Christ has taken your judgment you reject Christ and make my own world! They make themselves God! Any culture that legalizes sin in history has not lasted very long! Sin is sin and to legalize it whether gay marriage or drugs will have destructive consequences to any culture! Judgment is necessary to punish the wicked and reward the righteous! If we live in a culture where we punish the righteous and reward the wicked our doom is sure! The Deep State attack on our President Trump is the finest example going on in America right now! In the Old Testament there were sanctuary cities but the intent was not to protect criminals! They were designed to protect citizens who found themselves in difficult situations! An example would be a farmer who’s ox gored a stranger as the stranger crossed his land! To protect the farmer from revenge by the stranger’s family he was moved to a sanctuary city for a season! It was to protect the innocent! Wealth & Wickedness! Isaiah 53:9
Hebrew Translation: And he made his grave in the family grave site (humanity), with the morally wrong sinners (wicked), and with also identified with the rich in his deadly sickness (sin), because he had labored and sacrificed for no unrighteous gain, neither was there any deceit with treachery and fraud. Comment: I love the Hebrew and Greek language Bible studies for they paint a clearer picture of God and us! Notice immediately Jesus made his grave with humanity and sin even though he had no sin! When Jesus identified with humanity and the sin of human nature he had to take on death! He also identified with the rich in his death! With Judas and the rich young ruler! Jesus said the love of money is the root of all evil. It goes on in this verse and says Jesus labored and sacrificed for no unrighteous gain! Then this verse concludes there was no deceit in him with treachery and fraud! Why did Jesus come down hard on the rich? He is warning us to love God more than money! If you love God more than money then you will give the money away and help many people! If you love money then you will hang on to it for your own hurt! Again money is not evil but the love of it is! John Lennon Promotes Hell!
Here are the words of this despicable song! Imagine there’s no heaven. It is easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us only sky. Imagine all the people . living for today. Comment: No heaven or hell? John is blaming God for the evil in the world! Remember the Bible says we were created in the Image of God! So John is saying if God did not exist everything would be alright! Such a mockery! The responsibility of evil in the world has nothing to do with God! It is his creation that wars against him is the result of sin! Living for today? No responsibility required? No rewards for good and no punishment for evil? His mockery of God is unequaled! He goes on in the second stanza and says imagine there are no countries? No religion too? As though peace would ensue if these were absent? Heaven is full of people from every country and so is hell! John is talking about the one world government to be established with the Anti-Christ rule for 7 years before Christ’s second coming! In the next stanza John is trying to recruit you to his hell on earth! Imagine no possessions? No need for greed and hunger? Brotherhood of man? Sharing all the world? John is promoting socialism and the communism which was responsible for the killing of millions of people! In the last stanza he again trying to recruit you to join him! Then the world will be one? John was really trying to tell us that it were not for God the world would live in perfect peace? The truth is there is a battle between good and evil because there is a Ruler for Heaven and a Ruler for Hell that are competing for your soul! To deny either is suicide! To chose Satan over Christ is to spend an eternity separated from God in Hell. Heaven, earth and hell is a reality show and to deny any of it is living in a John Lennon Imaginary world not connected to any reality! Cutting a Covenant! Isaiah 49:16
“Behold, I have cut, prescribed and decreed a permanent law giver and ruler upon the palms of your hands, thy walls are a perpetually an offering before me.” Comment: The Hebrew word for palms is the eleventh character of the Hebrew alphabet. The shape of the letter is as the form of open hands as expressed in prayer and praise as opposed to a clenched fist! The word also means a permanent binding! Remember what Jesus disciple Thomas said in John 20:25? “Except I see in his hands the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side I will not believe.” Thomas was telling the other disciples that this would be the only way he would believe Jesus rose from the dead! The word “nails”, used in Greek has an interesting meaning! It actually means the outward manifestation of something much greater than the outward marks! So who was Isaiah talking about a permanent law giver, ruler who’s sign was cut or engraved into his hands? When Jesus returns for His Church what is one of the ways you could identify Jesus? The permanent engraving in his hands and side! Maybe like Thomas you would ask him to show you his hands and side? Did Thomas believe? Thomas went to India where he was martyred with a spear! Thomas also has a mark in his side! Thomas began a Christian community there which is thriving there today! What did Isaiah mean by thy walls are a perpetual offering before me? The walls of the Temple and the Church! Worship! The walls of the tomb! Sacrifice! Sacrifice and worship are eternally linked together! You cannot have one without the other! Rich Young Ruler! Matthew 19:16-30
You would think by hearing the prosperity message of the 21st Century from American pulpits that this guy would have the most coveted position on earth! Many spend their entire life pursuing these goals! The rich young ruler wanted to be sure he had all his ducks in a row and right with God! So he asked Jesus a question that we should all ask Him! What shall I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus said he should keep the Commandments to love God and people! He told Jesus he had done all these things since his youth! Jesus said you just lack one thing if you want to be perfect! The word perfect used here means reaching one’s goal of Heaven being blameless and righteous before God! Jesus told him he must sell all he has, give to the poor and follow me! This was just too much for this guy and he walked away sorrowful. Jesus only asked him to give up something he loved more than God! Jesus went on to say it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven! The sin was not being rich but loving money more than God! Jesus is telling all of us that we cannot go on a sin diet! We have to forsake it all. The last words that Jesus said somehow echo in my ears! Follow Me! Follow Me! If we hang unto a little sin it will turn into a monster! This is what happened to the Las Vegas shooter! Bill Gates is giving all his money away! The money no longer controls him! This is an important lesson when it comes to our tithes and offerings! It is a statement to God that He owns it all and we are acknowledging His authority! Sin will control us unless we forsake it! When you love God more than your sin and confess your sin to Christ victory is your estate! Jesus is God because only God can forgive sin! The rich young ruler refused to confess his sin! The joy of the Lord is our strength! If we will confess our sin He is Faithful and Just to forgive our sin! Then the bondages and chains of guilt, shame and condemnation are cut loose from our soul. Election Thoughts 2016
Does it matter who is in office? President Roosevelt was a Democrat when Japan attacked Pearl harbor. President Clinton was in office when the Twin Towers were attacked the first time. President Bush was in office when the Twin Towers got hit the second time on 9-11. Different ideologies were behind these attacks with destructive consequences. During the 1930’s America sold millions of tons of steel to Japan in the name of free trade and economic prosperity! Japan used the steel to build their military. All three of these American President’s failed to recognize the threats to America! President Lincoln a Republican recognized the threat of slavery to America! A civil war followed but he did not try to appease slavery! So the question to you as a voter do you recognize the threats to America and our existence? Then do the candidates for President recognize these threats and do they have a plan of action to defeat these threats? I see the two biggest threats to America are socialism and Islam! Both these ideologies are also threats to the world! Do you remember the former Socialist Republic of the Soviet Union? This laboratory experiment with socialism lasted 70 years then collapsed! History has shown us that as a people of a nation look to bigger and bigger government to solve their problems the whole economic system that it drains collapses! Greece would be our latest example! If you rob from the rich then eventually everyone becomes poor! Remember 2000 years ago Jesus said the poor will always be with you! The same is true today! The socialist ideology of today will eventually usher in the Anti-Christ! How and why? As socialist experiments fail individually in nation’s and with the final collapse of America then socialist will conclude that the only way it will work is if the whole world is under one government and one world leader! This is the path socialism is taking us down! Islam is the other big threat to America and the world! Our Constitutional freedom is threatened by Islam! Islam is a religion based on world conquest supported by the Quran! World conquest in the name of religion! Our current President Obama has promoted Islam! It is now being taught in our public schools and universities as legitimate! It is being protected by political correctness! This is simply hiding the truth! American withdrawal from the stage and our weakened military has let the bad actor’s on center stage! Russia, Iran, North Korea and China have increased their military power and influence around the world! Also remember Hillary Clinton has taken ten’s of millions of dollars in bribes from Islamic countries while she was Secretary of State? A few years ago this would have been a treasonable act? If she becomes President she will owe the Muslim’s a lot of favor’s! Do you remember from the Bible that the Anti-Christ will rule the world with His False prophet? This man will be the religious ruler of the world! Did you ever wonder what religion this would be? The Christians will be raptured at this time so who is left? How about Islam? One of two things are going to happen this election cycle? We are either going to strengthen Islam and socialism here and around the world or we are going to defeat it?
