Hebrew Translation: And he made his grave in the family grave site (humanity), with the morally wrong sinners (wicked), and with also identified with the rich in his deadly sickness (sin), because he had labored and sacrificed for no unrighteous gain, neither was there any deceit with treachery and fraud. Comment: I love the Hebrew and Greek language Bible studies for they paint a clearer picture of God and us! Notice immediately Jesus made his grave with humanity and sin even though he had no sin! When Jesus identified with humanity and the sin of human nature he had to take on death! He also identified with the rich in his death! With Judas and the rich young ruler! Jesus said the love of money is the root of all evil. It goes on in this verse and says Jesus labored and sacrificed for no unrighteous gain! Then this verse concludes there was no deceit in him with treachery and fraud! Why did Jesus come down hard on the rich? He is warning us to love God more than money! If you love God more than money then you will give the money away and help many people! If you love money then you will hang on to it for your own hurt! Again money is not evil but the love of it is! Do Bible Translations Matter? 1 Chronicles 16:3
If you are a student of the Word of God then it does matter! If God created the Heavens and the Earth by His Word then His Word matters! If you believe your Bible is the Word of God then your translation is important! Let us zero in on verse 3 and the later part of this verse. The King James Version (KJV) and the American King James Version (AKJV) translate the last part of this verse as “a flagon of wine.” A flagon is a flask or container for liquids. However the following 5 English translations; American Standard Version (ASV), Basic English Translation (BBE), Webster Revision, World English Bible and the English Revised Version say something very different? They render this English translation as a “cake of raisons.” Is it a jug of wine or a cake? Why does it matter? They cannot be both right? Here is the problem! If you look at verse 3 in it’s totality you have 3 elements listed! The bread, wine and flesh! This with the preceding and following verses presents a picture of Communion in the Old Testament! “He hath showed strength with his arm, He hath scattered those that have turned their backs on Him in the image of their hearts!” Comment: Notice God scatters them! Remember Israel’s captivity? Like Refugee’s! Why would people turn their backs on God? Probably many reasons but the bottom line is they have the wrong image of God in their hearts! Remember we were created in the image or imagination of God! However the image breaker Satan is very busy! Satan tries to break the image of God in your heart! He tries through deception and lies to paint a bad picture of God to you! Christmas is important for this shows us God’s love for us! Being born for us and dying for us cannot create a better picture of God’s love for you! When we find the true image of God and His love for us then we want to love God and try to be like Him! Picture Worth More Than Thousand Words! John 1:1
The truth is all images or pictures are formed in the lens of your eye were created by the Word of God! His creative power is in His Word! God spoke the world into existence with His Word! He created to establish and sustain life! Prophesies fulfilled in the Bible are completions of His Word! His Word is hidden in our heart for application to deliver us from sin! What you see on earth was first in Heaven! Yes, both love and war! If you decide to follow Christ the world will oppose you! God is greater than the world because He created the world! Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan! Satan tried to deceive Jesus by twisting the Word of God! Deception cannot live where God’s Word dwells! Political correctness is all about hiding the truth! All deception is accomplished with words! Bibles are being burned in the Middle East right now along with people! Hitler burned thousands of Bibles along with people! Not a pretty picture! If we ignore or reject God’s Word we do at our own peril! The final picture of your life will be determined by your acceptance or rejection of His Word! Believe it or not? You entered time so you could make a choice about His Word! You choose either Heaven or Hell? Life or death? Peace or war? Time is eternal and when it closes on your life you cannot turn back the clock! Eternity is a long time to live with your wrong choices! Time means to honor so you can choose right now with the now you have to secure your life with Christ! Jesus on the Cross is a picture worth more than a thousand words! It is the purpose and reason God came to redeem creation! The picture of the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation is displayed on the Cross at Calvary! God cannot make it any clearer than that!
