Can you win this one? Jacob did! Here is the question we need to ask ourselves? Do you have enough Faith in God that if you wrestle with God you could win? One of my best friends back in high school loved to wrestle! I hated it but he loved it! Since we were good friends I became a wrestling dummy for him to practice on! I was much like a sparing partner for a boxer. Kent Dove went on to win the heavy weight wrestling division state title for Colorado. Wrestling was sweaty, brutal, exhausting and very bruising to your body. Jesus wrestled with God for us in the Garden of Gethsemane! He sweat drops of blood! Most of our religious church guy prayers are pious, quiet, indifferent and selfish a sort of milk toast approach to God. You are probably thinking I have enough problems without taking on God! Jacob’s victory was a Blessing from God to himself and to all that followed him! It resulted in a name change. From a trickster to a Prince! The name Israel means to rule as God! If you were able to rule over this world would you do it as God does? Love the good and hate the evil? Jacob became Israel and a different man after his struggle with God and limped as he walked yet dependent upon God! No more tricks to try to get ahead! Do you struggle with God for the lost souls of this world? If they do not fight for themselves who will fight for them? How about the widows and orphans? Jesus wrestled with His Father and the Cross! Why have you forsaken me? Jesus went through hell for you and me so that we will never be forsaken! Let us wrestle with God to pluck souls out of the burning fire and from the Kingdom of darkness! End of the Story?
When it comes to Christ and His followers there is no end to the story! We have a cliché in American culture that is used to close out a conclusion by saying; “At the end of the day.” The end of the day brings a new day and another testimony written from God’s playbook! Christ’s Kingdom continues forever and ever and ever! In Heaven and here on earth! His story is our story in real time even more than a history of reporting the facts! Christ writes history in His followers! For every believer in every generation that receives Christ the old story becomes new again with results that are impossible to explain in natural terms! The Easter story is a routine story to everyone who is bold enough to take God at His Word! Easter Promotion!
God’s promotion system is opposite the world system we live in! The world system depends on doing wrong to someone in order to get ahead! God’s Kingdom promotes those who do right and suffer wrong for it! The Cross is our best example! Christ went to the Cross for our wrongs yet was promoted by being raised from the dead and being seated on the right hand of the Father forever! Christ through the Cross also promoted us to Heaven whom He died for our sin! So remember if you are suffering for doing right thing God is watching and waiting for your patience to promote you for what He has also done! Happy Easter! James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com
The Promises to Millions! Genesis 24:60
Rebekah receives a Blessing to be the mother of thousands of millions! Also that her seed would inherit everything from those who hate her and her seed! These promises are confirmed earlier to Abraham in Genesis 22:17. There God promises Abraham that his seed would number as the stars of Heaven and as the sand under the sea! The servant of Abraham Put was faithful to find Isaac his bride Rebekah. Abraham was too od to travel so he sent his trusted servant. Just as “Put” was faithful to carry the message of another so God has put you in a place to carry the message of salvation to the lost! We see the genealogies of Abraham listed in Matthew chapter one but notice the are listed forward to Christ! The genealogy does not end with Christ but to all those who receive Christ! Just as God is Faithful to the Jews through thousands of years of history He will be faithful to you just as sure as the nation of Israel stands today! Even to possess the inheritance of your enemies! Our enemies have not claimed their inheritance through Christ yet ! Jesus commanded us to love our enemies! Not to endorse their wickedness but to point them to Christ! We share the Blessings of Christ with them even though they hate us! Love covers a multitude of sin! Contemplate His goodness this Easter Season for Christ came for every season and every man! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhosGod.com
Good Friday Preparations! Genesis 22:2
The word offering in the Hebrew (Alah), means to ascend, rise up, lift oneself up, ascension to a higher place, to cause to burn (smoke ascends). It involves preferring one thing above another. This verb is used in relationship to a person’s appearance before God! Abraham was tested and asked to sacrifice his only son too God. When Isaac his son asked Abraham where was the sacrifice Abraham told Isaac God would provide one. Abraham built an altar and bound Isaac on the wood for the sacrifice! Abraham raised his knife to sacrifice Isaac! This reminds me of Peter raising his fisherman’s knife to take off the servant’s ear! Peter was protecting the sacrifice! An angel appeared and stopped Abraham and commended him for his Faith! God provided a Ram for the sacrifice. Remember by definition an offering is preferring one thing above another. What is it that you prefer above another? Is it God or something else? As we approach Good Friday it is only good because God preferred you above another! Yes, above His only Son! A sacrifice that was consumed that would only please God for you! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com
God Promises Blessings to the Arab’s! Genesis 21:18
God promises Abraham a Son to be heir for all of humanity. Abraham tried to fulfill this promise in his own strength and with the help of his wife Sarah. Sarah encouraged Abraham to go into his bondwoman Hagar to produce son. The word bondwoman means a female slave. Well the idea worked and Ishmael was born! This was not a God idea. When God’s idea was finally fulfilled in their old age Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah! Now the family feud begins! Sarah is mocked by Hagar and then Abraham sends Hagar and Ishmael out into the wilderness. Then God visits Hagar and Ishmael and promises to make a great nation out of them! Ishmael takes a wife out of Egypt and then the opposing sides are established! Did Abraham favor Isaac? Later Abraham offers up Isaac his son as a sacrifice on the altar too God! As we enter the Easter season God did the same with His son Jesus Christ! Yes, and for who? Yes for you! God has promised all the nations of the earth would be Blessed through the Jew! The biggest threat to world peace and your peace is the rejection of Jesus Christ! The biggest obstacle to blocking God’s promise to the Arabs is Islam! It is the perfect storm to drive them away from God! As I have studied the Koran one of the most destructive verses along with many others is when Mohammad says to kill all the non-Muslims on earth and then the Muslims need to kill each other! This is happening now and has throughout history. Suicide would be a better choice than Islam and the suicide bombers kill themselves to kill others! God died to save others through His Son Jesus Christ! Today there is a lot of political bunk saying the Muslim religion is hijacked by the terrorists! People that say that have never read the Koran! The radicals are simply following the Koran! Eighty percent of all Muslims worldwide have never read the Koran! The only hope for Muslims is to denounce Islam and come to Christ! As we approach Easter let us remember that civilization is Christ and Christ alone! Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGodcom
Purpose !
Thou has created us for Thyself, and our heart is not quiet until it rests in Thee! Saint Augustine
Esau and Jacob Romans 9:13
Why did God hate Esau and love Jacob? Esau was the first born and should get all the perks! The name Jacob means trickster or to supplant or replace. The name James in the New Testament is the same word as Jacob and has the same meaning! In fact in some foreign language translations of the New Testament calls the Book of James the Book of Jacob. God does not personally hate Esau but hates his priorities! We must value what God values! Our priorities must be God’s priorities! We must define our priorities according to scripture! We must make wise choices! Seek first the Kingdom of God! God will either respect or disrespect your priorities! There is no difference between the Jew and the Greek! Whosoever calls on His name shall be saved! Esau despised his birthright but Jacob valued it! If you value what God values then you will find favor with God! Live your life with integrity! The root word for integrity is the word integer. Something complete and not a fraction of something but a whole number. Let your yes be yes and your no be no! Do not add or subtract from the Bible. Do not cherry pick the Bible! That is only what you like! Some people think they will be cheated if they do the right thing? Jacob was cheated by his uncle Laban! Jacob did not take vengeance but let God Bless him more than if he had not been cheated! Isaac loved Esau more than Jacob because he was a hunter. Jacob tricked his father into thinking he was Esau! He did this to get the Blessing of the first born. Jacob comes in the name of another! To receive Blessings we do not come in our own name but in the name of Jesus Christ! We despised our birthright by living in sin! He took our sin away! We cannot save ourselves but in the name of another! Jacob wrestled all night with God! Jacob did not give up until he was Blessed! Do not compete but get complete! Jesus wrestled in the Garden of Gethsemane for us! Jacob in Faith got a name change! Yes, Israel! God promoted him to be a Prince! Jesus is our Prince of peace! We serve the God of Israel! Source; Pastor Steve Vaggalis, Destiny Worship Center. He was guest Pastor at New Life Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Grandpa and Grandma get a Son! Genesis 18
They say that if your two year old son raises his hands up to his father and says grandpa you know you have a miracle! Abraham has three men show up at his tent door in the heat of the day! Normally people do not travel in the heat of the day? These men were not normal and represent a theophany or God appearing to men Could these three men represent the Trinity? Jesus Christ is the personal manifestation of God to man! Abraham recognizes that these were not just men but God Himself standing before him! Abraham entreats them well offering the best he had with provision and water. When they announce to Abraham that he will have a son his wife Sarah laughs! Their son that was eventually born to them was named Isaac which means laughter. God also promises to Abraham and his descendants that they will be a great nation and all the earth will be Blessed through them! Later in history the birth of Christ and the nation of Israel would confirm these promises! The second mission of these three men was to destroy the gay’s living in Sodom and Gomorrah! Abraham tried to convince God to spare them because his nephew Lot and immediate family was living among them! Lot was a lousy evangelist even among his own family! God spared them but destroyed the rest of them! God could not find ten righteous in the city! God is faithful to Bless the righteous and destroy the wicked! So how does one move from the camp of the wicked to the camp of the righteous? There must be a change in behavior! Repent of your sin to Christ and let Him give you the strength to live a new life! You must be “Born Again!” Thankyou. James and Hamsa Sasse. GodWhoisGod.com
