Blessings & Cursings!
Deuteronomy 28:22 “The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue you until you perish.” Comment: So how did we get here? In chapter 28 God outlines the promise of blessings and cursing’s depending on what you do with his Word! Do you respect God? His Word? His Commandments? Statutes? Honor the Sabbath? Tithes and Offerings? Many preachers in the 21st Century pretend this scripture does not exist? If you throw out one scripture you have to throw them all out! You have heard of the Jefferson Bible? There are lessons to be learned from the past and if we miss them we tend to repeat them in the present and the future! God said do not reject my laws! Do not mock me! Is Jesus a curse word from your lips? Laugh at his word? If you obey his word then blessings come! The problem and the cure depends on the words that come out of your mouth! Sometimes the 21st Century church speaks as though Jesus is just a good additive for your life! Like STP oil treatment! He is not preached as a replacement for sin but an additive for your already good life! You do not hear from the pulpit anymore here in America you are a sinner headed for hell! If sin and hell are not preached then the Cross means nothing! Jesus took your curse upon the Cross to release your blessings! The curse is your sin! It has to be replaced! Repentance is required! You have to get serious with your sin because God got serious over it to die on a Cross for you! The ignorance of the scriptures is America’s greatest threat! I repented of my sin and came to Christ about 45 years ago! Before Christ my life was a mess! I thought my success was based on my own performance! So when people failed me and I failed people great anger came out of me! No forgiveness because I did not know God has forgiven me! I was miserable! Always a slave to my circumstances! All things work together for good for those that love God and called according to his purpose! In 1980 we had 20 percent inflation and 20 percent interest rates! So our house doubled in value and we purchased another house and it doubled in value! We sold them both and went to India as missionaries for three years and lived and did ministry off the profit! Negative circumstances were turned around for our good and the good of others! This is how God works! Not victims but victors! My success is not on me but on God! Then you can relax and enjoy the ride! Jesus has done more for me in my lifetime than I could do in a million lifetimes! In this spirit, Thanksgiving has become a day when Americans extend a helping hand to the less fortunate. Long before there was a government welfare program, this spirit of voluntary giving was ingrained into the American character. Hitler did not take this scripture seriously! Many world leaders today follow Hitler’s treatment and attitude towards Israel. So how many nations support Israel today? Just one! The United States of America! Our Blessings as a nation are linked to Israel. America the number one economic and military power and only supporter of Israel! Do we get this? Most of the political left in America does not support Israel. If we read our Bible and believe it then Blessings will flow to our nation as a defender of Israel. We worship Israel as believer’s through our Jewish Lord Jesus Christ! President Trump gets the connection and is moving our Embassy to Jerusalem! Other nations are following! We support the physical Israel for many reasons! Remember at Christ’s second coming he will return to Jerusalem for the 1000 year reign over this earth! $30000 Dollar Perfume! Mark 14:5
Would you spend thirty thousand dollars on perfume for your girl friend or wife? How about that much money spent on perfume for a burial! Probably not! Most Christian’s today would have picked up a bottle of perfume at Dollar Tree for Jesus! The pence or denarius was a day’s wage in the first Century! The pence was equal to ten asses or donkey’s and would have the purchasing power to get this many for a day’s wages! The day laborer and the Roman soldier got one denarius or about 20 cents for a day of labor! The denarius was a small silver coin. So the woman that anointed Jesus with this precious perfume spent 300 days labor for this act of love! The average American worker makes about 100 dollars per day wage. So the American worker at 300 day’s labor would spend thirty thousand dollars on Jesus perfume! If you were a millionaire and made 365 million dollars per year then he would spend 300 million dollars on Jesus perfume! Is it any wonder the crowd got upset at this woman? She was making them look bad! The crowd said the money could have been given to the poor! Jesus said the poor you always have with you! Since the 1960’s the American taxpayer has spent hundreds of billions of dollars on programs for the poor but the poor population has grown in numbers since then? Jesus complimented her and told her this anointing was for my burial. What she did stands as a memorial to her forever! You will meet her in Heaven! Today it is just like pulling teeth to get Christian’s to tithe their income to the church? They will not do it unless they get an income tax deduction! Forget about the offering? I find it difficult sometimes when people want God’s Blessings but will not invest into His Kingdom? We get prayer requests for health and prosperity but not a penny investment into God’s Kingdom? The only rationale I can come up with is that they do not believe God exists but in case He does pray for me! It is like playing the lottery! Buy me a ticket in case you win! This woman had wisdom to invest in the Kingdom while she was living on earth that paid eternal dividends! Her memorial stands 2000 years later! Another interesting word us for perfume is spikenard. Two Greek words make up this English word! It literally means a genuine true beloved friend of foreign origin! Are you a true beloved friend of Jesus? Is He like a treasure of foreign origin to you? His ways are past finding out! I want to do a literal translation from the Hebrew of Proverbs 13:22 and Exodus 3: 21-22. Here we go! Proverbs: A good man takes property as a permanent possession and gives it to his children and grandchildren and the strength and influence of an army who fail any task or endeavor is laid up for the just. Exodus: I will give this people kindness in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall come to pass that when you go you should not go away empty. But every women shall ask of her neighbor of those that dwell as foreigners in their house, jewels of silver and gold and clothes and you shall put them on your sons and your daughters and you shall be delivered from the Egyptians. Comment: Once the Jews crossed the Red Sea they turned the gold into a golden calf or idol and then they became slaves for 40 years! Slaves 400 plus 40 years! God was Faithful to accomplish His promises as the Jews now live the land of Israel today that God promised to them! Prosperity and wealth without God turns into a curse! You become your worst enemy! The condition of the heart must be right to receive any Blessings that will last now and forever! Judas thought 30 pieces of silver was a greater treasure than eternal life with Jesus Christ! Wealth is an enemy if it controls you and owns you! The Promises to Millions! Genesis 24:60
Rebekah receives a Blessing to be the mother of thousands of millions! Also that her seed would inherit everything from those who hate her and her seed! These promises are confirmed earlier to Abraham in Genesis 22:17. There God promises Abraham that his seed would number as the stars of Heaven and as the sand under the sea! The servant of Abraham Put was faithful to find Isaac his bride Rebekah. Abraham was too od to travel so he sent his trusted servant. Just as “Put” was faithful to carry the message of another so God has put you in a place to carry the message of salvation to the lost! We see the genealogies of Abraham listed in Matthew chapter one but notice the are listed forward to Christ! The genealogy does not end with Christ but to all those who receive Christ! Just as God is Faithful to the Jews through thousands of years of history He will be faithful to you just as sure as the nation of Israel stands today! Even to possess the inheritance of your enemies! Our enemies have not claimed their inheritance through Christ yet ! Jesus commanded us to love our enemies! Not to endorse their wickedness but to point them to Christ! We share the Blessings of Christ with them even though they hate us! Love covers a multitude of sin! God Promises Blessings to the Arab’s! Genesis 21:18
God promises Abraham a Son to be heir for all of humanity. Abraham tried to fulfill this promise in his own strength and with the help of his wife Sarah. Sarah encouraged Abraham to go into his bondwoman Hagar to produce son. The word bondwoman means a female slave. Well the idea worked and Ishmael was born! This was not a God idea. When God’s idea was finally fulfilled in their old age Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah! Now the family feud begins! Sarah is mocked by Hagar and then Abraham sends Hagar and Ishmael out into the wilderness. Then God visits Hagar and Ishmael and promises to make a great nation out of them! Ishmael takes a wife out of Egypt and then the opposing sides are established! Did Abraham favor Isaac? Later Abraham offers up Isaac his son as a sacrifice on the altar too God! As we enter the Easter season God did the same with His son Jesus Christ! Yes, and for who? Yes for you! God has promised all the nations of the earth would be Blessed through the Jew! The biggest threat to world peace and your peace is the rejection of Jesus Christ! The biggest obstacle to blocking God’s promise to the Arabs is Islam! It is the perfect storm to drive them away from God! As I have studied the Koran one of the most destructive verses along with many others is when Mohammad says to kill all the non-Muslims on earth and then the Muslims need to kill each other! This is happening now and has throughout history. Suicide would be a better choice than Islam and the suicide bombers kill themselves to kill others! God died to save others through His Son Jesus Christ! Today there is a lot of political bunk saying the Muslim religion is hijacked by the terrorists! People that say that have never read the Koran! The radicals are simply following the Koran! Eighty percent of all Muslims worldwide have never read the Koran! The only hope for Muslims is to denounce Islam and come to Christ!
