Greek Translation: “For the wrath, the passionate grief anger with revenge of the true God creator of heaven and earth from the residence of God against all ungodliness by the lack of reverence of God by sinful men, who hold fast the unveiled truth in unrighteousness contrary to justice and law.” Commentary: So what provision did God make to resolve for sinful men who war against God? What resolution did God make for all sin including abortion, homosexualism, lesbianism, gay marriage, transgenderism and the list goes on and on? How is God’s revenge satisfied? How is justice rendered? Justice could never be accomplished unless applied to all men! The penalty of death is required to satisfy the living God! Did you ever notice when men apply justice in their own efforts they murder one another! Like the school shooting in Texas! This young man wanted justice for injustices against him so he killed the innocent! Christ was not sinful and was innocent yet he sacrificed himself the only Son of God to purchase redemption for all! Jesus says we must forgive as God has forgiven us our sins! Jesus took our sin on a cruel Cross! Those that reject Christ reject their own path to redemption! To reject Christ is to reject heaven and embrace hell! Your attitude towards Christ reveals your spiritual condition! God sacrificed himself for all men yet some reject the gift of life! Sin is redemptive but not the sin of rejection of the redemptive God Christ! Either way heaven or hell is determined by whether or not you reject the grace of God! 1 John 1:8-10 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say we have not sinned we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Commentary: Christ had sin on him yet no sin in him! His deity was protected! He took the sin of the whole world upon himself on the Cross! Sin is all around us! It is like the three Hebrew men in the fiery furnace! The flames were all around them but not in them! Is the Word of God dwelling in you? Do you read it and study it everyday? If Christ is living in you Satan cannot take up residence in you! The only way Satan can possess you is to deny the Christ that has saved you! Satan trembles at the name of Jesus! Demons flee at the mention of his name! This explains the attack on Christ and his followers! The disciples of Satan persecute the disciples of Christ! The world is ablaze with sin! However you have protection in Christ! Redemption!
Jesus did not identify a person with his sin, but rather saw this as something alien, something that really did not belong to him, something that merely chained and mastered him and from which he would free him and bring him back to his real self. Creation Groans For Redemption!
Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Commentary: We need to examine the word ‘created’ used in this passage. We will look at two Greek foundational words. Words have creative power! God created everything by his word! Words are like pieces of a puzzle! You put the pieces all together and you get the big picture! A picture of God’s glory, power and his majesty! We marvel at his creation! His words speak of more than we can comprehend! He causes us to wonder and awe! Who can compare to him? The word ‘created’ has two root words with two different meanings depending where the word is used in scripture! This word can also mean two different things at the same time. The first meaning is created means God made something out of nothing! This is the opposite of evolution and Darwinism where this crazy man tries to link one form after another to try to prove his theory! What evolves out of nothing? Nothing! This first meaning is in reference to the creation of the earth! Now what about the creation of man? If you follow the six days of creation in Genesis Chapter one God creates the earth and all creatures before the 6th day when he makes man. So God created man out of the dust of the earth joined man to the Spirit of God! So Adam here was created out of pre-existent matter joined with God! Very different from other creatures and the earth! We are created in the Image of God! This gives us value! So funny Darwin digging through the dust yet he was dust! It is the idea of proprietorship through manufacture! We were bought with a price! With his blood on a Cross! Born again is a spiritual birth! Not a reincarnation as in Hinduism but a new creation through the incarnation of God becoming man! God took our dust or mortality and gave us immortality! Eternal! Immortal the only wise God! Iniquity & Redemption!
Psalm 119:3 “They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.” Comment: Everyone has a general idea of what the word iniquity means. However few understand it’s origin! The word in Hebrew means to be wicked, dishonest, depraved, unjust and or unrighteous! So where is this word used the first time in your Bible? It is used in Genesis 4:13. However even though it is the same Hebrew root word as in Psalm 119:3 the translators use a different English word! In Genesis the translators use the English word punishment rather than iniquity! Cain said, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.” My iniquity is greater than I can bear! So how does one come to do iniquity? Iniquity is the penalty for sin! A bad dude is not a bad dude because he is a bad dude! He is a bad dude because he is receiving his wages for sin! The wages of sin is what? Death! Iniquity is turning the truth into a lie! In the Garden of Eden Satan convinced Adam and Eve to believe a lie that God did not mean what he said! Surely God has not said? Go ahead and eat of the fruit on this forbidden tree! You will then be wise like God (Pride). You will not die! Satan did not tell her the wages were going to be sin and death! Iniquity is a function of sin! Iniquity comes naturally to every human that has ever lived! However redemption is supernatural! God takes our iniquities upon himself and pays the price for our sin! He takes our penalty of iniquity for our sin upon himself! He dies for us! He takes our guilty plea! This is what the Cross is about! There is no redemption outside of Christ! No religion will die for you but it will kill you! Until the source of our iniquity is cut off no remedy will work! No good works will pay the price for our sin! Send them to prison yet when out they do it all over again! There has to be a supernatural work of God! Jesus said you must be born again! If we confess our sin he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin! The way Satan even today destroys lives is to cut them off from Christ! To mock Christ and his followers! Through political correctness not to mention his name! To take down Crosses! To remove the Ten Commandments from Courthouses! To remove nativity scenes! Fast Forward Redemption!
2 Peter 3:13 “Nevertheless we, according to his promise look for a new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” Comment: The Apostle Peter is looking forward to the day when the old earth and the old heaven is passed away consumed by fire! Global warming consummation! Just like the old heaven and earth were created by God so the new! Right now you may be consumed with the here and now however that will change because God wants to change you for the new place! You could put criminals in the new heaven but would no longer be heaven! God is preparing his people for his place! Even the old heaven was tarnished by sin! War started in heaven! Lucifer and one third of the angels rebelled against God and were cast down to the earth! So then war began on earth! When the old heaven and the old earth are consumed with fire Satan will be cast into the Lake of Fire along with his followers! Only Christ can prepare us for this new place! How? By transforming us into his image while living in the old earth! The old man has to go! The new man has to come! Jesus said we must be born again! A new birth for the old man for the new place! A worm turned into a butterfly! The image of God reborn into your soul by the blood of the lamb! A sacrifice is required! Then to see the world through the eyes of God! I shared with you some time ago about C.S. Lewis who was an atheist and then got born again! He made an important observation about his conversion! He asked himself why should I think about right and wrong? Why should it matter to me? If I do wrong right stares me in the face! If I do right wrong stares me in the face? If I do right why does wrong remind me of my previous sins? Lewis concluded that right and wrong cannot be an issue to me unless there is someone outside of me greater than me bringing this consciousness before me everyday of my life! The God of righteousness will remind us of our image from him of being good and holy! Satan author of sin and death will try to remind us of our past sins to condemn us! Our soul cannot be fixed by ourselves but requires a power outside of ourselves! The God who made us knows how to fix us! To reject God and his Christ is a vain effort to fix ourselves! Christ defeated Satan for you but you will never defeat him by yourself! Self wars against God! Try to rewind your life without Christ you will only see death! Fast forward your life with Christ and you will be a resident in the new heaven and the new earth! Guilt does not come from God! Satan will always try to hold you hostage to your past! God has ransomed your life with the penalty of death on himself for your sin and has released from the prison of guilt and Satan the jailer of guilt! Redemption is from God and guilt and death from Satan! God reminds us of our future and Satan our past! Remind Satan of his future and of your forgiven past by the blood of the Lamb! Early Redemption! Ephesians 1:13-14
A company wants to buy my life insurance policy! They might pay me 50 thousand dollars on a 100 thousand dollar policy. There are a lot of things you have to consider! My tithe to my local church! Any tax liabilities? I called my tax accountant and asked her to check on any taxes that would be due and then asked her on the thoughts of spending my death benefits before I die? I told her if I wait until I die the benefits do me no good! She told me you will get the full benefits if you wait until you die but you know there is a down side to everything? You know it is like speaking at your own funeral! They would be the nicest words said about me! I could call out those fake relatives with the phony tears! Then I could pick out my own casket! I could have a Christian burial with no cremation! I could chose my own burial plot! I always wanted a lake view! I saw on the news yesterday a State Trooper pulled over a suspicious looking U-Haul truck? He asked them to open the back of the truck! It was full of stolen caskets! Were these thieves trying to cheat death? When we come to Christ we get the death benefits before we die! Jesus has prepared a mansion for us in Heaven but we get the benefits while still living here on earth! The Apostle Paul called these benefits the escrow or down payment! Jesus went to Heaven to send the Holy Spirit back to us as a down payment to his promises to us! The Holy Spirit is a seal in us and on us that marks us for redemption! A life insurance policy for this life and for eternal life! While living here on earth we experience the joy and peace that this world could never give us! God’s very presence living in us! Jesus went to the tomb so we could be raised from the tomb! No mortal can promise you what Jesus has promised you! People go back on their promises but Christ never will! Is Jesus Blood Human?
The father of any child determines the gender and blood type! Jesus carries the blood of his Father in Heaven! If Jesus had human blood it would be contaminated with sin! Jesus had a human body except for his blood! God does not look at our sin whatever it may be but looks on the sacrifice! Is the sacrifice adequate? Is the sacrifice enough to atone for our sin? The same in the Old Testament! The High Priest provided the shed blood of an innocent sacrifice for the forgiveness of the sin of the people! Jesus without sin and his shed blood of God is the only sacrifice that qualifies us for redemption! Not your works not your own efforts but the Divine blood of Jesus Christ! Nothing else!
