God’s Strength Overcomes Pride!

Luke 1:51 “He hath shown strength with his arm, he hath scattered the (proud) in the (imagination) of their hearts.” Comment: This verse is part of Mary’s song of praise to God! So who are the proud? Remember the first sin in the Garden of Eden was pride! Eve you can know what God knows! You can be like God! Just eat of this fruit! You surely will not die? Pride is elevating yourself above your fellow man preferring yourself! They believe they are better than anyone else! They think they are the MVP of humanity! The word imagination means the thoughts of men. They believe they are the elites of culture! So why does God scatter them? They make themselves God! Why do the rock stars die on drugs? Why do the self-exalted ones come to not? Simple! They reject the author of humility! They reject God! We are all created in the Image of God! We all have different abilities yet equal in the eyes of God! None of us are the basket of deplorables! We are not the smelly Walmart shoppers that love our religion and our guns? That is what the elite think we are! When we put down one of God’s created beings we put down ourselves! We then exalt ourselves over God! Charles Darwin the atheist and promoter of Evolution is the biggest culprit in American culture and European and Asian cultures responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths in the 20th and 21st Centuries! It is the political divide in America today between the Republican and Democratic party! The battle lines are drawn between Creation and Evolution! Socialism, Communism, Fascism, Nazism and Imperial Japan had their ideological roots in Evolution! Survival of the fittest! In competition among the races each trying to prove one race is superior to another race! Abortion is alright since there is no God! Anything goes! Mary was singing praises to God because she knew her offspring Christ would defeat the godless theories of this world promoting pride against Christ and His Kingdom! James and Hamsa Sasse. Choosing Good or Evil! Isaiah 56:2

Hebrew Translation: Blessed, happy and successful is the man that works, labors, toils and the son of man that layeth hold unto it; that keeps, watches and guards the Holy Sabbath, the 7th day of the week, on the same day God rested from His Creation and ceased from work. Keeping from polluting it or making it common and committing violence against God’s established law. Also keeping his hand of authority and responsibility from doing evil. Comment: The choice should be easy and obvious but it is not! The first day of the week is Sunday! Not Monday! In early America you could not find a business open on Sunday! If you are trusting in your own works then Sunday is just another work day for you! A chance to make more money! Then you believe the time you have is not a gift from God but belongs to you! All of it! This is an ownership question! No faith in God causes people to trust themselves and their own efforts! God rested on the 7th day so are we greater than God? Do you believe God is looking after you? Then show it! Pressures build as you try to carry the load by yourself! Your health is affected! Do not make Sunday just another day in the week! Do you follow God and His example or do you make up your own rules? I am almost 70 years old and have been walking with Christ for 44 years! The peace, joy and prosperity is beyond measure! I have been retired for 22 years! I have never been a slave to work but God works for me! May seem a prideful statement but not really! I do what I can do but understand I can do nothing without Him! My efforts are futile unless God Blesses my efforts! When I cease from my own labor and rest in Christ each Sunday I leave the results to God! Whether the experiences seem good or not my trust is in the Lord! When I tithe and make offerings each Sunday I am giving back to God what He has already given me! I watch for the Sabbath! I guard the Sabbath! Sorry sir I cannot work on Sunday! We will fire you! So be it! God will provide another job! I prepare for the Sabbath! My soul, mind and body prepare for it! Then I rest in Christ and he renews my soul, mind and body! My thoughts are continually on Him! My expectation is from Him! My reward is in Him! My joy comes from Him! My peace from Him and the relationship to Him! My eternity is framed by Him! His promises are mine! You can please God by making the right choice! Love & Success!

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. Salvation! Isaiah 12:2 (700 B.C.)

Hebrew Translation; “Behold the God of Holiness, compassion, might, power, strength is my Salvation! His victory has delivered me from outside of myself! In His Salvation I find safety, comfort and rescue from emergencies, enemies, natural disasters, calamities, plagues and sickness! I will trust Him with confidence and security and will not doubt, quake, tremble or be cautious! Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He has come to pass and existed for my Salvation! Rich Young Ruler! Matthew 19:16-30

You would think by hearing the prosperity message of the 21st Century from American pulpits that this guy would have the most coveted position on earth! Many spend their entire life pursuing these goals! The rich young ruler wanted to be sure he had all his ducks in a row and right with God! So he asked Jesus a question that we should all ask Him! What shall I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus said he should keep the Commandments to love God and people! He told Jesus he had done all these things since his youth! Jesus said you just lack one thing if you want to be perfect! The word perfect used here means reaching one’s goal of Heaven being blameless and righteous before God! Jesus told him he must sell all he has, give to the poor and follow me! This was just too much for this guy and he walked away sorrowful. Jesus only asked him to give up something he loved more than God! Jesus went on to say it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven! The sin was not being rich but loving money more than God! Jesus is telling all of us that we cannot go on a sin diet! We have to forsake it all. The last words that Jesus said somehow echo in my ears! Follow Me! Follow Me! If we hang unto a little sin it will turn into a monster! This is what happened to the Las Vegas shooter! Bill Gates is giving all his money away! The money no longer controls him! This is an important lesson when it comes to our tithes and offerings! It is a statement to God that He owns it all and we are acknowledging His authority! Sin will control us unless we forsake it! When you love God more than your sin and confess your sin to Christ victory is your estate! Jesus is God because only God can forgive sin! The rich young ruler refused to confess his sin! The joy of the Lord is our strength! If we will confess our sin He is Faithful and Just to forgive our sin! Then the bondages and chains of guilt, shame and condemnation are cut loose from our soul. War & Faith!

“In my perplexities and distresses, the Bible has never failed to give me light and strength!” Robert E. Lee (1807-1870) Comment: Can we start on the wrong side of history and end up on the right side of history? If the truth be known we all started on the wrong side of history! Otherwise no one would need to be saved! Ask the thief on the Cross! Today there are billions of people on the Cross in the valley of decision! Millions will get saved! My favorite example of a thief done straight is John Newton! You remember his song, “Amazing Grace.” He was captain of his own slave ship! Then in the midst of a storm on the sea when they were about to perish God showed him how wicked he was! He repented and returned to Liverpool England and joined a small church. This is where he wrote his famous hymn! In 1787 he wrote a book, “Thoughts upon the African Slave Trade.” This book helped William Wilberforce a Parliament member over a 20 year period abolish the slave trade! Suffering and Success! Acts 9:15-16

It seems that everyone is trying to show the world how successful they are! The American dream! Mansions, land, gold, money, private jets, limo’s, fame, status and the rest of the vanities! However though everyone wants it there is a problem? Success tends to put the spotlight on us rather than God! Our failures can put the spotlight on Jesus rather than us! God delivered me from the death bed! Jesus raised me from the dead! I was a street person but now He has given me a family and a home! No one else ever cared for me like Jesus! He loved me when no one else would! The disciples were afraid of Paul and rightly so but Jesus told them that Paul was going to be a great leader in the church and suffer many things for my name! In my weakness i find His perfect strength! Much of the modern church has adopted the ways of the world! Then they wonder why there is no power to do the things Jesus commanded them to do? The Strength of Great Wisdom! 1Cor. 1:20-25

Verse 25– “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” What is Paul talking about here? He is talking about the Cross! This is God’s genius plan! Christ! Born of a virgin? Sinless? Dies on a cruel Cross as a common criminal? Rose from the grave? Conquered death and hell? Seated at the right hand of His Father right now? If you could figure this out it would not be of God! Only the revelation of God through His Holy Spirit can reveal this to you! Spiritual discernment is required not man’s wisdom! Pilot told Jesus I will determine whether you live or die! Jesus told Pilot I lay down my life! Using man’s wisdom you will decide to enslave others! That is what all our wars have been about over history! Using God’s wisdom you will serve others! When you make decisions love people through the Cross! The world’s way is to use power to dominate them! God’s way is to serve men! I traveled down to Central America last week. I know enough Spanish just to get by! The people there encouraged me there to stay there for some time and learn their language! It would probably take me about two years! Why do we hear these messages over and over again every Sunday? Why do we take communion every week? Is it we have nothing else to do? We need to learn the language of God! We need to learn His language! If you are in love with God read His Bible! Study, pray and do the things that please Him! Live righteously! Hate sin! Love God! Love people! Serve others sacrificially! Praise Him! Serve Him!
