When President Lincoln tried to resupply Fort Sumter the Federal Fort in Charleston South Carolina harbor, the secessionists responded by bombarding it! Lincoln summoned an Army of 75 thousand men to suppress the rebellion and asked Colonel Robert E. Lee of Virginia to take command of it. What if Lee would have accepted? Lee repeatedly said he believed secession was treason! Georgia receded but only by a handful of votes. Lee was married to George Washington’s great granddaughter Mary Curtis. Lee lived in Arlington Virginia. Lee’s father, Henry “Light Horse Harry” was a famous American Revolutionary War Calvarymen and one of Washington’s favorite solders! Only 6 percent of the South owned slaves! George Washington enlisted thousands of black men into his Continental Army in 1776. He freed all his slaves in his will and ordered they be educated and trained in various skills! If Lee had accepted Lincoln’s offer how would have things changed? Possibly no civil war and Lee could have been elected President of the United States after Lincoln! Source: Historians History 6-24-13 Comment: So why tear down his statues? Like shooting yourself in the foot! The left is determined to destroy America! Why? Why bite the hand that feeds you? History is twisted in our public tax funded education system! Our children are taught to hate America! So what will replace Christian America? Prophetically it will be very ugly! Why disrespect our flag? Our foundation stones are being broken away! The Church in America needs to help rebuild our walls! It needs to recognize they are being torn down! We are in a war and need to get into the fight for survival of America! Lee (1807-1870) Comment: Can we start on the wrong side of history and end up on the right side of history? If the truth be known we all started on the wrong side of history! Otherwise no one would need to be saved! Ask the thief on the Cross! Today there are billions of people on the Cross in the valley of decision! Millions will get saved! My favorite example of a thief done straight is John Newton! You remember his song, “Amazing Grace.” He was captain of his own slave ship! Then in the midst of a storm on the sea when they were about to perish God showed him how wicked he was! He repented and returned to Liverpool England and joined a small church. This is where he wrote his famous hymn! In 1787 he wrote a book, “Thoughts upon the African Slave Trade.” This book helped William Wilberforce a Parliament member over a 20 year period abolish the slave trade! Mistaken Identity!
My Pastor Steve from Macon Georgia is a very talented man and oversee’s a congregation of about 1200 people. As a college student at Lee College he took a summer job in the local town at a funeral home. He thought the experience of ministering to the grieving would help him prepare for the ministry. That summer the funeral director made steve supervisor over 6 people because steve was so talented. This particular day they had two funerals scheduled. Both were scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM in churches located in opposite ends of the city. One deceased was a man and the other a woman. Well, Steve got the caskets mixed up and sent them to the wrong locations! To make matters worse they were both open viewing! When the lids were both lifted at 2:00 PM shreaks and screams began! Steve thought it was just emotions from the crowd for the dearly beloved. Then he heard one lady say he looks like her old boyfriend? Another said he was going to sue the funeral home? After some bad words were said to steve he realized his mistake! He quickly loaded the casket and headed for the other church! He got stopped on the way and got a speeding ticket. When he got to the other church there was not a warm reception for him there either! Monday morning was a difficult morning for steve as the funeral directory called him into his office. He explained to Steve that anything less than termination would not be accepted by the community. Steve got another job in fast food just up the road in the next town.
