The Babylonian Ambassadors came to King Hezekiah in Israel to give him gifts for they had heard he had been sick. Hezekiah showed them all the treasures in the Temple and government treasuries! He gave them a tour of all his stuff! Isaiah inquired after they left and asked the king who were these people and what did they want? After Isaiah learned who they were he warned the King he had made a grave error! He told the King the following generations would be taken captive to Babylon as slaves and all their wealth carried away! Pride before the fall? It is good to give a testimony to people for how God has blessed you! However some will become jealous and try to steal your goods! Sometimes treasures can draw the wrong people into your life! If you have a loyal faithful friend when you were poor they will be faithful when you are rich! Someone like Jesus! Remember Job after he lost it all? Miserable friends! God recovered Job! Do The Righteous Suffer With The Wicked? Isaiah 6:10-13
Absolutely! Even one step further they suffer for the wicked! Jesus on the Cross for us is the best example! How about Moses in Egypt? Isaiah was frustrated! He asked the Lord how long shall I preach to a people who have a fat heart, heavy ears, blind eyes and a heart that does not understand? The Lord answered and said, “Until their cities be wasted without an inhabitant, and their houses without men and the land utterly destroyed.” The Lord removed them to a far place (Babylon). After 70 years the Lord said ten percent would return as a Holy Seed! If you could get an accurate account of how many Christians today faithfully give their tithe to the work of the Church most Pastors would probably say about ten percent! It has been said that if every Christian would tithe their income and not rob God there would be enough funds to Evangelize the world in about 30 days! However most cannot even trust God with 10 percent of their income yet the same people claim they are going to trust God with their eternity? Someone is blowing smoke here? Jesus and John both quoted Isaiah 6:10, explaining that the 1st Century Jews were no different than the Jews living in Isaiah’s day 800 years earlier! Remember as Jesus predicted the Romans destroyed their Temple in 70 A.D. and carted off all the wealth of the Temple and burned Jerusalem and carted off one hundred thousand Jewish slaves to build the Roman Coliseum! Then the Christians were martyred in the Coliseum for the next 300 years! Is the 21st Century Church any different from the Jews in 1st Century Palestine? Are you a 10 percenter? Baptism
In the early church Baptism was done outside a building in a lake, stream, pond or on the ocean shoreline! During this time in church history this was a witness to the unbelievers as well as the believers since many unbelievers saw this testimony displayed! At least in America most baptism is done inside a church where only believers witness! Israel and Christmas! Deuteronomy 29:13-15
Verse 15 The Chaldee paraphrase reads, “All the generations that have been from the first days of the world and all that shall arise to the end of the world.” This covenant is the dispensation of grace and it is a noble testimony to the Mediator of that covenant who is the same yesterday, today and forever! Comment: The testimony to the world today is Israel as a nation and people and the Christians of the past 2000 years! Deviled Ham Luke Chapter 8, Verses 26-39
Jesus calmed a storm which really messed up the weather forecaster’s prediction and then the very next day met a naked crazy man on the beach. Even the crazy man knew someone messed up a perfectly good storm. The Gadarene area was a Roman colony made up of soldiers and gentile pig farmers. This story has helped advocate for the mentally ill over history. Jesus was and is today an advocate to help the mentally ill. The mentally ill are usually pushed to the outer fringes of a culture. Yes, all the way to the cemetary! Then bound with chains to be sure they do not disturb the dead! Satan will always try to isolate people. Whether through divorce, institutions or popular culture. Satan hates marriage and any unity that brings people together under righteousness! There are 4 area’s of theology in American culture. Area #1-No God, No Demons. Area #2- Big God, No Demons. Area#3- Big God, Big Demons. Area#4- Big God, Defeated Demons. The first 3 categories isolate people in our culture. Category 4 brings balance and unity to our culture. Jesus wanted to know the crazy man’s name? Jesus is interested in people not demon’s. A Roman Legion is about 5000 soldiers. The demons did not want to go to the abyss? Why? Their evangelism program would be over! They needed to take someone with them. They were pro-porkchop and wanted deviled ham! Jews considered pigs unclean and not redemptive. The local gentile community was making a living off the unclean. The next thing we see in this story is a man walking around in his right mind wearing clothes. Who gave clothes to this naked man? Does your church have a clothes bank? A wild man gets tamed! Jesus is more than a lamb he is a lion! Never try to tame God down and domesticate Him! Remember all this took place before the Cross! The Demon’s recognized Christ’s Divinity! The sane man wanted to go with Jesus and get out of town! Jesus wanted him to be a witness in his own community. If you are not a witness where you are do not waste time and money running somewhere else! Can you imagine the story he had to take back to his community? The community had to trade in 2000 pigs for a sane clothed man. The Gadarene’s did not like it and wanted Jesus to leave town! Their money was more important than this lunatic! Never get over your salvation! Others may try to tame you down but be wild for Christ! Christ will always make you a testimony of His love and power! Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens!
Ray Lewis started the Superbowl in Faith and ended it in Faith in God! At the beginning of the game during the coin toss he called heads! Why? Because the Bible says we are the head and not the tail! After the Raven’s won the super bowl he said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Ray ended his 13 year career in the NFL with a victory!
