John 3:7 “Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.” Jesus Christ Commentary: God’s divine nature is not born into us entirely at birth! You do not have to teach a child to do wrong! It comes naturally to your indigenous child! Sin comes with the package! Note Jesus Christ did not become Jesus Christ at his birth! He existed in the Trinity before the creation of this world and was active in the creation of this world! Jesus pre-existed creation! His divinity was established before eternity! Our English words “Born Again” in the Greek means to be born from above! A spiritual birth in a fleshly body! Jesus took on a fleshly body so that we can be saved from our sinful bodies! In your new birth you are no longer an indigenous person! You are no longer bound for hell! A diversion to heaven has begun! Adam and Eve were indigenous people the first humans on planet earth! However that did not help them! Their fallen spiritual condition separated them from heaven! All flesh regardless of color is in a state of sin! The Pilgrims found the American Indian tribes warring against each other! Just as a worm turns into a butterfly we all must be born again! A spiritual birth new in Christ! Old things are passed away and all things become new! Born from above to be returned to above resurrected from the dead to live with Christ forever! We are all illegal immigrants until we get our citizenship from above! Then we are given a visa from heaven to legally stay here to legalize the illegal immigrants or the indigenous people through the blood of Christ! When was Jesus Born?
Glad you asked! If I were God I would tell you! There are many ways scholars interpret the estimated date of Jesus birth! From Biblical and historical events and astrological events during the time of his birth. For example the reign of King Herod the Great. The date of the decree for taxation made by Caesar. Even to the type of sheep grazed and birthing at that time and their birthing times according to history. The methods are various but they all zero in on a accurate time frame of when Jesus was born! The priestly order of Zachariah and his time of priestly administration in the Temple is another way to cross check this date! I will give you one method among many methods that are used! If I do not use just one method we will end up publishing a book on this subject! According to Luke Chapter 3 Jesus began his ministry when he was thirty years old. Jesus began preaching after being baptized by John the Baptist. Based upon Luke’s Gospel John began baptizing people in the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar or about A.D. 28-29. By working backwards Jesus was probably born no later than 1 B.C. Herod the Great died after the January eclipse of 1 B.C. or even 1 A.D. after the eclipse that occurred in December of 1 B.C. Christmas Story
It was Christmas Eve in Brooklyn New York in 1942. The war was on and a difficult time. It was snowing in New York. A cold night as Wilber was walking down the street thinking about his past. Wilber was 98 years old and his past troubled him? He had committed crimes and betrayed his family and many friends. He was most troubled about where he would go if he died? As he went by a church he heard Christmas Carols. Then he thought I know what I can do! I will join a church and this will throw me in with all the good folks. Then I can escape hell! Wilber went into this Lutheran Church and asked the Pastor if he could join the church? The Pastor told him if he could answer one question correctly. The question is where was Jesus Christ born? Wilber thought a minute and said Pittsburg. Sorry said the Pastor you need to find another place. Wilber went back out into the snow and cold and found a Catholic Church. He went in and asked the Priest if he could join? The Priest said he could only if you can answer one question correctly. Where was Jesus Christ born? Wilber strained his brain and said Philadelphia. The Priest told Wilber he was too far gone to make a good Catholic! Down but not out Wilber hit the streets once again. The he walked by a Synagogue but it looked closed. Then he saw a light in one of the back offices so he knocked on the door. A Rabbi opened the door and invited him in. Wilber asked if he could join the Synagogue? The Rabbi said sure you can! Wilbur was perplexed? Are you going to ask me any questions? No replied the Rabbi. Wilber asked the Rabbi if he would mind if he asked him a question? Please go right ahead said the Rabbi. Saved & Born Again?
1 Corinthians 15:45 Greek translation: “And so it is written. The first man in time Adam was created a natural living soul, the last Adam (Christ), was a quickening eternal spirit of the invisible eternal breath of God raising the dead and bringing salvation to men.” Comment: Our natural body houses a supernatural soul. At creation eternity was placed in our heart! We think about where we have come from and where are we going? This is the eternity God has placed within each of us! There is an awe and wonder about life! It is a great mystery! What is my purpose? Life seems so meaningless at times? There is an internal struggle within! I want to do good but I do bad! I want to please people but the people I try to please are no good! I feel empty without purpose! My life is sad! I work hard but the rewards are small? Time is fleeting away! Jesus disciples felt the same way! I am sick and tired of this fishing! I am tired of collecting taxes! This medical work as a doctor is unrewarding! I hate tent making! Then Jesus came along into their lives! Remember Jesus had not gone to the Cross yet so his disciples were not saved and born again! They made every mistake that we as mortals make! I will never forsake you! I never knew the man! You are one of them! Listen to that Peter curse? I cannot hear you the rooster is crowing! You had five husbands! Lazarus is dead! Pay your taxes! We can overthrow the Romans! Put away your sword! Turn these stones into bread! They are casting demons out in your name what shall we do? How can we feed so many? What do you have? We have never seen such a man? You claim to be God? How dare you! Who art thou Lord? I am blind but now I see! The scales are removed! After the Cross they were saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit! They raised the dead and healed the sick! They cast out demons! Even their shadow healed people! Silver and gold I have none but rise up and walk in the name of Jesus! Their mortal bodies were quickened with the love and power of God! They no longer hid behind closed doors but faced their enemy! They were stoned, beaten, crucified, sawed in two, boiled in oil, cut in two, beheaded but no longer ran from the fight! They were endued with power from on high! They no longer lived like mortals made from dust but walked in the authority of Christ himself! They wrote the Bible you read today! Their testimony was true no longer wavering in mortal flesh! They were quickened by the living God bringing healing and salvation to millions! Paul got it as expressed in the Book of your Bible! No more excuses only conquer in his name! Spare me not from the fire that I may see you in the fire! The only foolish test is not to take God at his word! Let me not hide behind any organization that would prevent me from the challenges that only Jesus can conquer! Taste and see that he is good! The reformer Luther traded in his religious cloak for the garments of persecution! All his challenges were but made of the dust of mortals! When I am laid to rest my dust will not be distinguishable from any mortal that has lived before or after me! Bethlehem Times Report!
Last night it was reported that some shepherds in the hills above Bethlehem got blind sided by an unusual event! It was like they got hit by the back side of a Roman sword! Bang! Boom! Bong! Someone rang their bell! The shepherds claimed they were just spending another boring night tending to their sheep in the hills just above Bethlehem! They were guarding their smelly sheep from the wolves who wanted a free lunch! They built a fire to keep warm and protect their sheep! The sheep were just about asleep when the light show started! The shepherd’s thought they led an insignificant life until last night! One shepherd reported that he was thinking about years back when his grandma told him to go to school or you will end up a nobody! Now last night he was thankful to be on the lower end of the food chain! Meanwhile about 90 miles away a young couple had started their journey to Bethlehem from Nazareth by donkey’s! The couple’s names were Joseph and Mary. They had to come to Bethlehem because that scum bum Caesar ordered everyone to return to their home towns to pay more taxes! Since Joseph was of the House of David he had to come back to Bethlehem! The Motel’s were overcrowded since the Decree by Caesar! Caesar needed more money for his military expansion! During their 5-8 mile per day journey his wife Mary pondered many things in her heart! Things like I am pregnant yet a virgin! Try to explain that to your family? Then she thought of the Angel Gabriel appearing and explaining the whole event! Then the Holy Spirit dwelling over her! Then her husband Joseph telling her he was going to divorce her and put her away! Then the Angel speaking to Joseph in a dream and explain the whole purpose of her pregnancy! Instructing him to take Mary as his wife! Joseph was worried about Mary for every bump of the donkey ride meant the child may be born early! Where would they stay in Bethlehem? They had little money! Mean while back at the ranch in the hills of Bethlehem the light show was about to start! Night turned into day! The heat from the lights turned the cool 32 degree night temperature up to 80 degree’s! They began to sweat in the sheep skin jackets! Residents of Bethlehem reported seeing UFO’s! The sheep were getting anxious! Then Bam! The choir of Angels! It was a Northern lights show with sound! It was a rock band that shook everything that could move! These shepherds were surrounded by the Host of Heaven! The shepherds bowels reacted to these climatic events! So did the sheep!Global warming on steroids! There was a light in the sky brighter than the sun! A million voices in the choir! Wow! Super Bowl Sunday! For the first time in their lives the shepherds had a crowd following them! Surrounded by the Glories of Heaven! Fear struck the shepherds and the sheep! The end has come! The rapture is here! Guilt began to overcome the shepherds! We should return those sheep we stole from our neighbor! Then the orchestra and choir in Heaven stopped the music! An Angel told the shepherds this night a Savior is born to you in the city of Bethlehem! Go worship him! Wow again! We need to sell some of these sheep to present gifts to this new King! Then the lights dimmed and a star was hanging over Bethlehem! A new star never seen before! The choir is gone and the cold night returns to those hills above Bethlehem! Judah did you see that! Benjamin did you see that! Did you put something in my food? What have we been drinking? Who will believe our story? Caesar might lock us up! Holy Ground! Exodus 3:5
Take off your shoes Moses! No shoes allowed! Sometimes when you go into a business they post a sign on the front door that says, “Must wear shoes.” After the 9-11 Muslim terror attack on us you have to take your shoes off at the airport! Not in respect for Islam but to try to prevent them from blowing up your flight! Let us look at the word “ground” in the Hebrew. It is the word “Adamah” which is Strongs #127. Do you see a clue here? Do you see the word Adam here? God’s first created human being on planet earth. Adam was formed out of the ground! He was created out of the dust of the dust of the earth! The top soil produces the entire agriculture products for us to exist! In fact all the elements in the human body are found in the soil of the earth! The plants, tree’s and animals take the elements in the soil that we eat to replace the lost elements in our bodies! The name Adam means ruddy or a red brown color. It is the color of fermented wine. The curtains in the Jewish Temple were this color. Remember when you walk across the ground you were made of this stuff! Ashes to ashes! Dust to dust! Your physical body was joined together with God’s Spirit! You are created in the image of God! This is why the 6th Commandment says you shall not kill. Jesus is the second Adam sent to redeem us! God became flesh but this time to atone for the failure of the first Adam! The ground that Moses walked on produced man ! When we are buried at death back to the ground we go! The grave could not hold Jesus Christ! He defeated death and the grave! No mortal man could do this only God! The ground produced humans but not redemption! Only if the sin within us is defeated can death be defeated! The resurrected Christ promised to raise us from the dead! The angel or pre-incarnated Christ could live in the flames and not perish because he is the judge of all. Do you want to draw near to God? Then your sin must be covered in the blood of Jesus Christ! Then you can draw near to God and then he will draw near to you! In April of 1912 a ship sank below the waves of the Atlantic ocean! Those men that stayed with the Titanic sang their last hymn on earth with a full orchestra! The name of the song was, “Nearer My God to Thee!” The purpose and journey of our life while on this short life here on earth is to draw near to God! I Am That I Am! Exodus 3:14
The Hebrew word for this English phrase is “Hayah”. Strongs # 1961. This Hebrew word is also related to another Hebrew word “Havah”. Strongs #1933. What is interesting is that these words are not nouns but verbs! So they represent an action or initiation of something! The first word describes God as “to exist.” He always was and always will be! He does not fade off into history like men! The second Hebrew word used means to “breathe.” Do not confuse this word with the two Hebrew words used in Genesis 2:7 and Genesis 6:17. In Genesis 2:7, Strongs #5387, the word breath means a Divine inspiration with intellect. The word breath used in Genesis 6:17, Strongs 7307, means a violent exhaustion of air and spirit. Like giving up the ghost! At Creation God the I Am That I Am, initiated his breath into man with Divine inspiration and intellect! At Noah’s flood in Genesis 2:7, the word breath means a violent exhaustion of air and spirit by death! At birth we receive God’s breath! At death we exhaust God’s breath! At Creation our life is established by his breath! We are established with his breath! We did not evolve! So our breath is not our own! So you have to be careful what you say! Some people have bad breath! Do we praise God or curse him with bad breath? Do we exalt God or ourselves? Every good or evil action is initiated with the breath of our words! Again our breath is not our own! Who is the owner of your breath? When Jesus raises us from the dead again one day we will have breath again! Both believers and unbelievers! Remember the story Jesus told of Lazarus and the rich man? It is found in Luke 16:19-31. Lazarus the beggar was taken to Heaven and the rich man to Hell. There was a great gulf between the two abodes! The rich man begged Abraham to warn his brothers still on earth to the Hell that awaits them unless they repent! Abraham told the rich man in Hell that his brothers had Moses and the Prophets! Abraham told the rich man that if they will not believe them then they will not believe one though raised from the dead! So God was really telling Moses to tell Pharaoh that I am the breath that all men have! I am the God that breathes breath into men! I am the Creator of all living things! Pharaoh you have not evolved by your own works! Pharaoh since you are using my breath that I gave you do not abuse me in unbelief towards me! Jesus said we must be born again! I second breath or wind! Before being born again I cursed God with my breath! No I praise him with the same breath! Pharaoh rejected the God that gave him breath and he and his army was drowned in the Red Sea! In the time of Noah the world except for 8 souls were drowned in the flood! Remember Lucifer who became Satan the Praise Leader of Heaven? Remember the fallen Angel? He used the breath of God to Glorify God then he used the same breath to oppose God! He rebelled against God in Heaven and was cast down to earth with 1/3 of the angels! Now they use the breath of God to oppose his Kingdom here on earth! Satan has many followers over the generations that have lived since the Garden of Eden! Is your breath used to raise doubts about God or affirm him? After the resurrection of the dead we will have breath again! Some to everlasting life and some to judgment! The Praise of the Saints will be beautiful but the screams of Hell deafening! Remember this! What you did with God’s breath while here on earth will determine your outcome in eternity! You are not your own you have been bought with a price!If I were God I would be reluctant to give mortal men my breath! Very risky! Will they praise me or curse me? With the breath of God Jesus said on the Cross,” Father forgive them for they know not what they do”! Crucify Him! John 3:16 Word Study “Son”
Son (Hulos) Strongs #5207. This word in the Greek is specifically reserved for the Son of God and has no other application! There are other Greek words used for son. An example is for adopted sons and daughters. Hulos specifically refers to the male offspring of legitimate parents! We as believers have a likeness to God’s character but we are not the Son of God! The word son used here refers to Jesus special relationship to the Father! Jesus is never referred to in scripture as a child of God! Only the Son of God! Think about this! Jesus was the Son of God before he came to earth! Jesus Sonship did not start at Bethlehem! Believer’s show maturity by acting as the Sons of God! John 1:12. However this word sons is a different Greek word! Teknon (Strongs#5043). Son (Hulos) stresses the dignity and character of the relationship of the Son to the Father but Teknon sons, communicates the fact of a natural birth. Jesus had a Supernatural birth where we are the product of a natural birth! You can see why a Hebrew-Greek study Bible will help us with interpretations of scriptures! Remember Jesus said we must be born again! The word born (Strongs #1080), means God devine nature imparted to us! But when? The word again (Strongs #509), means from the beginning referring back to the Garden of Eden before the fall of man! Here is a side note for you.
