Lead us not into Temptation!

Pope Francis wants to change this section of the Lord’s prayer to: “Keep us from falling into temptation.” I do not have any problem with this semantics however the word we need to pay attention to is “Temptation.” In James 1:13 it says God cannot be tempted neither does he tempt any man! Why? Because there is no sin in him and he is Holy! Satan is the father of sin and executer of all sin! What did Jesus mean by “Lead us not into Temptation?” What Jesus meant with this model prayer to the Father is lead us not into denying Christ! The only unpardonable sin is to deny Christ! Every other sin can be forgiven! To deny Christ is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit who is part of the Trinity along with Christ! I touched on this topic in January of 2018. You can type in on our search box of our blog, “Hour of Temptation! Revelation 3:10”, and it will take you to this posting. So in Revelation 3:10 what did Jesus mean by keeping us from the hour of temptation? Keeping us from denying Jesus! The 21 Coptic Christian believers who were beheaded last year were kept from the hour of temptation! Christ will give us strength not to deny him! So what are the forces in American culture that put pressure on you to deny Christ! There are many! Popular culture in Hollywood, Political correctness, political left, liberal media and social media, educational teaching of atheism in evolution, humanism, socialism, abortion, racial supremacy, anti-colonialism, gay marriage, lesbians and transgenderism! These are not all but the more obvious! These are the principalities and powers of darkness that will tempt you to deny Christ! So how do we resist the Devil? The same way Jesus did! With the Word of God! It is written man shall not live by bread alone! It is written! It is written! If you do not know your Bible you are hanging out on a limb! An eternity at stake! Jesus came to deliver us from our sin! The only way you can thwart God’s love for you is to deny him! So who would be so foolish? Many! Even though the Postal Service lost 2 billion dollars last year they will not be discouraged! Now free airmail service to your congress, senate and even the white house! If you have a beef with your government your mail can be delivered directly to these offices by gyrocopter service! One of the secret service agents who watched the gyrocopter on it’s maiden voyage thought it was the presidential helicopter! He thought after a 7 year drought Obama was finally going to talk to congress! The school children in the bleachers in front of the senate building for photos pointed towards the sky in amazement and one little boy said, “It is a bird, It is a plane, no it is superman!” Encouragement to you is that not all your tax money is wasted by our government just most of it! Jury Duty

I was riding with my friend down a snowy icy highway back in the 1970’s. He was a careful driver but a wind gust moved the back of the car and he over corrected and we spun out a full 360 degrees. The car behind tried to avoid us but lost control and upset in the median. The driver was seriously hurt. The case went to trial. My friend told me prior to trial that 12 people would decide his fate and they were not even smart enough to get out of jury duty! Our God who created us is smart enough to know everything and His judgement through His Son Jesus Christ will be true and perfect for all men! Drugs take down Elvis, Michael and Whitney!

Yes and along with millions more in the earth! Why? The pop star life does not satisfy! So reality of its failures is blurred with drugs to escape the emptyness it produces! The Bible has strong warnings against drug abuse. Particularly in the Book of Revelation Chapter nine, verses 20-21, Chapter 18, verse 23, Chapter 21 verse 8 and Chapter 22 verse 15. The english word used in these scriptures for drugs is sorcery. The greek root word is pharmakeia. We get our english word pharmacy from this greek word. Whether prescription or non-prescription or whether legal or illegal drugs can be abused! Alcohol is another drug that destroys millions of lives! Bible has alot to say about this drug also. If you have any of these addictions God can deliver you from them! Turn your life to Christ and ask Him to forgive you and give you the power to overcome this bondage! Get help from your local pastor! Ask him to pray for you! Money cannot save us! Only Christ can! Christ went to the cross for you! Go to your knees for Him and He will forgive you. After He has removed your guilt and shame you will be enpowered to live for Him! God will never turn His back on you! Turn your back on drugs and rush to the Cross! In Christ’s Love.
