Jesus Sends The Holy Spirit!

1 John 3:24 “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” Commentary: Mission impossible for those that try to be Christians without the Holy Spirit! Just like taking Christ out of Christmas! Happy Holidays? Jesus said we must be born again! The religious Jews had a hard time when Jesus told them this? Jesus tells us our political position or rank in our culture will not save us! Remember Nicodemus? How can I go into my mother’s womb a second time? A spiritual birth is traumatic like a natural birth! You have to abandon trust in men and trust in yourself and cast all your cares on Jesus! You have to divorce yourself from the gods of this world! You have to lay everything on the altar! You sacrifice yourself like the sacrifice that was made for you by God on the Cross! Jesus told Nicodemus you only lack one thing to follow me! Sell all you have and give to the poor! He could not do it for he was a rich young man! You cannot hold back a few sheep like Saul did! You have to trust God when all your senses say no! You have to cut the anchor to your ship and submit to the will of the storm! Like Jonah you may have to confess Christ even though they throw you overboard to the sharks! Everything except Christ will fail you! My health! My name! My church! My family! My possessions! My house! My car! My political party! Christ will not fail you for he has promised to raise you from the dead! No mortal can do this! No mortal can help another mortal suffering from the same sin! No one but Christ can judge every human that has ever lived and forgive everyone who accepts his redemption! The Trinity created this world and after Jesus ascension he promised us he would send his Holy Spirit! To keep us secure until he raises us from the dead! Jesus has gone back to heaven to prepare a mansion for us there! How many mansions does he have to build? He just looks in the Lamb’s Book of Life and looks for your name there! Your title deed is in that Book! The title here on earth of your name will be removed from your house, vehicles, bank accounts, retirements and the only thing you get back is a death certificate! Right now you either have a title to heaven or hell! After death comes the judgment! Jesus will look to see if your name is in the Book? The Holy Spirit will confirm your salvation with his indwelling presence! The Holy Spirit gives you his power to keep your place in heaven while you work out your salvation on earth! Socialism Theft versus God’s Spirit!

1 John 3:17 “But who hath this world’s good, and yet seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” Commentary: Let us look at the word “good.” From the Greek it means the soul and the spirit. The Greek word is “Bios” Strong’s #979. Unless you have experienced the love of God you will never have compassion on anyone! The word “bowels” means the spleen meaning sympathy and pity on someone! After Christ came into my life I look for ways to help people! With prayer, financial giving, giving of my time, energy, council and Biblical advice. Real love is always voluntary! Jesus volunteered for the Cross! To choose sacrificial love to benefit others! God has given his commandments and precepts yet we still have to choose them! We have to cast our vote for them! After experiences God’s love obedience becomes an easy choice! God will not force you into his kingdom! Socialism is forcing someone to give up their property earned by work and ingenuity to someone who does not want to work! It is theft of property! Your resources are given to someone who did not earn them! They rob Peter to pay Paul and to pay themselves with the fruit of your labor! It is involuntary forced distribution of your property! God’s way of distribution is voluntary! God has promised us that if we give he will give back to us more than we gave! Pressed down and overflowing! The love of God that we give is multiplied back to us! The love we with hold will die with us! God says we shall not steal nor covet our neighbors stuff! (8th&10th Commandments). Legalized theft is still theft! Socialism is about legalizing evil! Like abortion! Socialism goes back to the Garden of Eden where Adam and Eve although had all the fruit of the garden except one tree stole this fruit that brought death on the entire human race! The penalty of sin is death! The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ! I have a family member who is deceived into thinking he will never physically die? I told him Jesus died! God died and rose again! My Bible says flesh and blood shall not enter the Kingdom of God! I asked him if he thought he was God? Only sinners die so you must be God! I also told him that if you do not die Jesus cannot raise you from the dead! You will miss heaven! God’s gift to the world is to give himself as a sacrifice for you! Spirit + Truth = Worship

John 4:24: “God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Commentary: Jesus says God is a spirit! Can we find God in a bottle? The word “Spirit”, in the Greek means an invisible wind or breath of God. God created this world with his breath. By the words he spoke through his breath. Some people bless God through their breath and some people curse God through their breath! Though our breath is the invisible part of man yet our character is determined by the words that come out of our mouth! Remember at Pentecost the Holy Spirit came as a mighty rushing wind! It was the wind that rolled back the Red Sea! Blessings or cursing come through our breath!  What spirit resides in man is revealed by his words! Since we are created in the Image of God we have breath like God! By our breath we either have the spirit of God or the spirit of Satan! Either a God like spirit or an evil spirit! Satan deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden with his breath! Now let us look at the other side of the equation. Let us look at the word “Truth” in the Greek. Remember what Jesus said in the Book of John? Jesus said my words are truth implying not all words are truth! If you want examples of lies just listen to the political debates! Here is a good definition of truth. Truth means the unveiled reality agreeing with the appearance! The reality pertaining to the appearance! The real deal! Transparency! No hidden agenda! No secrets! No sin! No double talk! No deception! Only truth! The Spirit of God took on flesh in the incarnation of his Son Jesus Christ who is truth! Remember when Jesus was put on the Cross and after he died on the Cross?  Many things happened! The veil in the Temple was split in two! Now transparency between God and man! No masks! The barrier of sin defeated! No hiding from God as in the Garden! God taking our sin upon himself! Dying for our sin! God sacrificing himself for our sin! His blood washing us white as snow! If we are to follow Christ then we sacrifice ourselves for others! People following Satan sacrifice others for themselves! With Satan you become the sacrifice! Then murder, stealing and killing sacrificing others for their gain! God is not that way! He gave himself for you! The right relationship in marriage is both sacrificing themselves for each other and together sacrificing themselves for God as God has sacrificed for them! Our sacrifices cannot save us but only God’s sacrifice! However sacrificing for others is God like! The Kingdom of God is a sacrificial system! So is the Kingdom of Satan but in opposite ways! Without the Holy Spirit?

You will find that for a smoking flax there is no specific like heaven’s oxygen, for a faint and flickering piety there is no cure comparable to the one without which all of our exertions are but an effort to light a lamp in a vacuum—the breath of the Holy Spirit. He That Overcometh! Revelation 2:11

Comment: Jesus repeated this over and over again to the church! He that overcometh I will give the crown of life! He that overcometh  will escape the second death! What does the word really mean? Let us go to the Greek root word. The word is “Nikao”. The word means to subdue and conquer! To have success in victory! The Greek root word also has a root word! It is the word “Niki”. You got it! It is the athletic foot wear company named Nike! It means conquest! If you are in the body of Christ and believe you will never have a fight with the devil in this life you are in denial! You are in “La La” Land! This life in your generation just as in all preceding generations is a battle between good and evil! You can try to ignore it but it will not go away! You can wish it away? You can try to isolate it away? You can try to spend it away? However you have to join a team and play! Your team can win but you must fight the good fight of faith and face your enemy! Jesus has given you the tools to overcome! To win the victory! His Word! His Spirit! His power! His love! We conquer in Christ’s name! Satan was conquered on the Cross! However in his stupidity he thinks he can still win! He will try to take as many down as he can in defeat! This week a young man went on a mission trip to a remote island where a remote tribe lived! He was martyred! Others will follow to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth! This missionary gave his all to take the Gospel into all the world! If I live my life sheltered, protected, financially secure, and die of old age in this condition I have wasted my life for nothing! The church of Jesus Christ is a conquering army! It is an offensive army! We have real sacrifices and we take some casualties in this war against evil! But we win and will eat of the Tree of Life forever! Thanksgiving!

In this spirit, Thanksgiving has become a day when Americans extend a helping hand to the less fortunate. Long before there was a government welfare program, this spirit of voluntary giving was ingrained into the American character. Americans have always understood that, truly one must give in order to receive. This should be a day of giving as well as a day of thanks. President Ronald Reagan 1981. Comment: If we really believe that all our gifts that we have are gifted to us from God then we would have no problem with giving them away! Sunday Worship! Revelation 1:10

Greek Translation: “I,  John was in the spirit when the breath of God blew on me! It was on the Lord’s day! It was Sunday the day and time of life that belongs to Christ! It is his day therefore I submit to my King and Ruler this day! This day is owned by my God!” Comment: Man’s day is in opposition to the Sabbath! Fifty years ago when I was a teenager about 90 percent of all businesses were closed on Sunday! What about today in America? I hear about more and more Christians telling me they have to work on Sunday? If the businesses stay open on Sunday then the employee’s will have to work on Sunday! Where was John in the 1st century when he received this revelation? He was in the Lord’s House on Sunday! Do not expect to hear from God if you forsake the Sabbath! It is like trying to catch a fish by casting your line on a sand dune in the desert! If you want to meet God you need to be where he hangs out! Now John’s church building could have been his prison! Peter and the Apostles spent time in prison but still honored the Sabbath! Turn your prison into a House of worship! If you do not want to be where God is then you may need to repent! If you resist Christ’s church here on earth you are also resisting him in Heaven! The separation from Christ begins here on earth and continues resisting Heaven! In American culture work has become the agent of resistance to Christ and Sunday worship! Most people move away from Christ gradually taking many little steps! Seven Spirits! Revelation 1:4

John to the seven churches which are in Asia; grace be unto you, and peace, from which is and which is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his Thrown.  Comment: The seven churches in Asia Minor were not the only congregations there! They were the nearest churches to John who was exiled on the island of Patmos. The phrase “from which is and which is to come”, refers to Jesus Christ. Grace and truth comes through Jesus Christ. Where some controversy can come is the phrase, “Seven spirits who are before his Throne”. Some believe these are angels! However the problem here is the word used is not angels but spirits! The word spirits, Strongs #4151, translates breath of God or the mighty rushing wind of God! This leads me to believe this was the Holy Spirit part of the Trinity! Remember the Holy Spirit was already sent to the church at Pentecost! Jesus said I must go back to my Father to send the Holy Spirit! Where is the Holy Spirit sent from? Heaven! From the Throne of God where He resides! Remember the Holy Spirit is not a created being like humans and angels! However the Holy Spirit resides in created beings like me and you! Why? For God’s purposes! Remember Lucifer who became Satan and 1/3 of the angels rejected God and His Holy Spirit! God does use angels like Gabriel and Michael and are his servants! They have a choice just like we do! Some believe these spirits are the gifts of the Holy Spirit! The Catholics believe there are 7 gifts and the Protestants believe there are 9 gifts!
