Lincoln Buys a Slave Girl!

Abraham Lincoln was traveling on his campaign tour and came across a slave auction! There a young girl was being sold! She had the look of being abused by her previous slave owners! Lincoln began to bid on her! He did not have a lot of money but was able to purchase her! This girl looked at him in anger and said are you also going to abuse me? Lincoln replied you are free to go! I have purchased your freedom! You are free to go wherever you want with whoever you want! Lincoln began to walk away when she called him out and said, “Sir, I choose to follow you!” Pastor David Jeremiah Commentary: The Holy Scriptures were taught to Abraham by his mother sitting on her knee! She did not know she was grooming him to be President of the United States at a crucial junction in our history! Christ purchased our freedom on an ugly cruel Cross with his own blood to set us free from our sin! I choose to follow him! How about you? Christ! Servant! King!

There is no King who has not had a slave among his ancestors! There is no slave who has not had a King among his ancestors! Helen Keller, Deaf, Mute, Blind, Writer, Author.  Comment: When Helen was introduced to Christ and Christianity she said I knew he was with me all the time but I did not know his name! Helen said her greatest pleasures were curiosity and imagination! We were all made in the image or imagination of God! Curiosity is about the awe and wonder of God! She also said the only excuse humans had for being in this world is to help others! In regards for a Texas school board removing Helen and Hillary Clinton from their text books we must remember we should not change history to fit our prejudices! I am not a fan of Hillary Clinton! I would not consider a role model for my children! However we cannot have a Democrat history book and a Republican history book! History must be reported as unbiased as possible to our children! History must not be changed or the history of people must not be ignored! Even though Hellen leaned towards socialism I believe it was more towards a spirit of helping others not overthrowing present systems of Government with revolution! Choosing Good or Evil! Isaiah 56:2

Hebrew Translation: Blessed, happy and successful is the man that works, labors, toils and the son of man that layeth hold unto it; that keeps, watches and guards the Holy Sabbath, the 7th day of the week, on the same day God rested from His Creation and ceased from work. Keeping from polluting it or making it common and committing violence against God’s established law. Also keeping his hand of authority and responsibility from doing evil. Comment: The choice should be easy and obvious but it is not! The first day of the week is Sunday! Not Monday! In early America you could not find a business open on Sunday! If you are trusting in your own works then Sunday is just another work day for you! A chance to make more money! Then you believe the time you have is not a gift from God but belongs to you! All of it! This is an ownership question! No faith in God causes people to trust themselves and their own efforts! God rested on the 7th day so are we greater than God? Do you believe God is looking after you? Then show it! Pressures build as you try to carry the load by yourself! Your health is affected! Do not make Sunday just another day in the week! Do you follow God and His example or do you make up your own rules? I am almost 70 years old and have been walking with Christ for 44 years! The peace, joy and prosperity is beyond measure! I have been retired for 22 years! I have never been a slave to work but God works for me! May seem a prideful statement but not really! I do what I can do but understand I can do nothing without Him! My efforts are futile unless God Blesses my efforts! When I cease from my own labor and rest in Christ each Sunday I leave the results to God! Whether the experiences seem good or not my trust is in the Lord! When I tithe and make offerings each Sunday I am giving back to God what He has already given me! I watch for the Sabbath! I guard the Sabbath! Sorry sir I cannot work on Sunday! We will fire you! So be it! God will provide another job! I prepare for the Sabbath! My soul, mind and body prepare for it! Then I rest in Christ and he renews my soul, mind and body! My thoughts are continually on Him! My expectation is from Him! My reward is in Him! My joy comes from Him! My peace from Him and the relationship to Him! My eternity is framed by Him! His promises are mine! You can please God by making the right choice! Prayer! Matthew 21:13

Some people think that prayer means asking for things, and if they fail to receive exactly what they ask for, then they think the whole thing is a fraud! Gerald Vann (1906-1963), British Catholic Theologian, Author of 24 Books. Comment: Prayer is really fellowship with God! Fellowship with the Father through His Son! You remember some of Jesus words! Father forgive them for they know not what they do! Father if possible let this cup pass from me nevertheless not my will but Thy will be done! We can pray for the stuff but it will perish one day! I can pray for the sick which is good but they will die one day! The fellowship with our Father through Jesus will last forever! We pray expecting but according to the will of God! All Jesus disciples were martyred except John who was boiled in oil and sentenced to a slave labor camp stone quarry on the island of Patmos where he wrote the Book of Revelation! Some in the church today might think they were out of the will of God because they did not die rich with a lot of stuff? Success is more than stuff! The Gold Standard for success with God is to love others and sacrifice yourself for their benefit! What are our prayers like? Lord I am a sinner forgive me as my Savior! Lord forgive them and forgive me! Do we continue to fellowship and worship God through prayer in Heaven? What is Jesus doing right now in Heaven? He is interceding for the Saints here on earth! Satan has no prayer life and is separated from God! The Old Testament Hebrew word for prayer means to intercede for someone else! Jesus is following this pattern in Heaven today! One of the Greek words for prayer in the New Testament means to ask for a specific benefit from God! Send your Holy Spirit and dwell in me! Whatever the benefit it is to benefit others! Pray more for souls and less for stuff! What will be our prayer in Heaven? Praying for those here on earth! Why not start today? How Did The Apostle John Decrease? John 3:30

John was arrested in Ephesus when his enemies threw him into a pot of boiling oil. However John was miraculously delivered from death! The authorities then sentenced him to a slave labor camp in the marble mines of Patmos! On this island on the Aegean Sea John under impossible odds had a vision of Jesus Christ and wrote the Prophetic Book of Revelation! John years later was freed due to his old age and returned to Ephesus in now modern day Turkey. He died an old man sometime after 98 A.D. He was the only Apostle to die peacefully! Comment: If we will decrease Jesus will increase! Most 21st Century Christians think of decreasing as missing a meal now and then or even a whole day! When you find yourself in a pot of boiling oil up to your neck you could easily think I am having a bad day! Especially when the local natives are cutting up vegetables and putting them in your pot! To be sentenced to a slave labor camp on a remote island under Roman guards in a stone quarry might cause you to think you are having another bad day? Are You a Servant? Philippians 1:1

I am glad you asked! You say I feel like one with job, family and ministry! The true slave loves to be a slave! No complaints! A true slave would work for free and many did in the Roman Empire and early America! The Romans had slaves of all races! They were non-discriminatory in their slave employments! So what would be the attitude of a true slave? First, they would be completely consumed in the will of another! They would be completely bound in the relationship of another! Like marriage! They would be bound by the law! They are bound to do that which is needful to another! Their Master! They would make their needs know to their Master in prayer! The needs of others to their Master? Jesus was bound to the Cross in service to God and man! The only Master that could destroy you is the one who makes his Master himself! That is what Satan did! The Incarnation! Philippians 2:6-8 (Greek Translation)

“Who came into existence in the affirmation of human existence as supreme divinity thought it not plunder to be the actual perception of God! And of the same Father emptied Himself and made a clear affirmation of human existence became a slave in a humbled and despised position in the resemblance of a common person! And being found in the figure of a common man He humiliated Himself and became poor and needy to submit to the extinction of life by violence on an instrument of capital punishment!”
