We have a Dollar Tree store about 3 blocks from our home. One of the clerks Annie operates a goat farm and works at the store to buy goat feed. Yes it is cowboy country out here on the front range of Colorado. They have a Christmas display on the front check out counter with motion activated holiday bulbs you could hang on your tree. When you get near the display they go off and you get the song, “We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas.” The song repeats over and over again for about 10 seconds! As each customer walks by it the song is repeated over and over again! I felt sorry for Annie because this song would play over and over for hours on end! When I suggested to her to take the battery out of the device she told me it was solar powered! I told her to turn off the lights! The lady behind me told me she liked the music! I guess she thought I was the anti-Christmas scrooge! Annie told us her husband got mad at her last night because she was whistling this tune in her sleep and woke him up! She told us she is planning to buy the whole display to turn off the sound! It was the night before Christmas and the motion detector was set off by a mouse! Merry Christmas! James and Hamsa Sasse. Great Expectations! Isaiah 9:6
Our view of God will determine the challenges we are willing to accept! Whether David and Goliath or Mary the pregnant teenager in Bethlehem explaining to her husband Joseph how she got pregnant! We will be mobilized by Faith or paralyzed by fear! God is mighty and near us! If you are afraid you are believing a lie! Fear is an exaggerated view of the enemy! Faith replaces fear! Christ will replace your sin with His righteousness! The great exchange! Faith gives an accurate view of God! As we come to the communion table this morning what area of your life do you need God to be mighty in? Let Him be strong in your marriage, family, church, city, business and all else! Israel and Christmas! Deuteronomy 29:13-15
Verse 15 The Chaldee paraphrase reads, “All the generations that have been from the first days of the world and all that shall arise to the end of the world.” This covenant is the dispensation of grace and it is a noble testimony to the Mediator of that covenant who is the same yesterday, today and forever! These guy’s are fat, lazy socialists who want to tax the world! They are the debunked scientist on the Al Gore team! Al Gore can only sell his books in Africa! So how did our genius Obama get 200 nations to agree on anything? He claims we have a 60 nation coalition fighting ISIL? There are 3 active members including us and 80 percent of our aircraft return from the fight with the bombs still under their wings? It is like an air tour of the Grand Canyon using F-16’s! The Kurds are doing the heavy lifting against ISIL but Obama will not give them weapons? So the Kurds are winning using sling shots! Back to Global heat. Obama got 200 nations to agree because there is no penalty to break the rules! Who would not agree to this? No winners and no losers! No Heaven and no Hell! This is the Obama doctrine! It is like a football game with no referee’s and no one keeping score? You can play this game with global warming but not with war! If you do not fight the enemy and win there are consequences! Hebrew Translation Isaiah 9:6
What I have done here is go to the eight Hebrew root words that make up this scripture and translate it back into English. Well you may say haven’t the translators already done this? Yes they have but I like to dig deeper! You do not have to be a scholar to do this! Anyone with an interest can do this. If you do you will find golden nuggets of truth! So here we go! Fasten your seat belt! Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, an adopted son is given: and the government shall be on His shoulder: and His name shall be declared Miracle worker, advisor, the Mighty God of gods, God’s dwelling place, God as Father and Chief ruler of Peace! Groaning Inwardly Romans 8:22-24
We groan inwardly at the loss of life recently in Colorado Springs and California! We never solve problems through violence! We groan but yet we are hopeful! We are either consumed by fear or we are pregnant with hope! Our expectations and confidence is in a little baby carried in a pregnant mother named Mary who lived over 2000 years ago! Man’s plan for this baby was also violence! Yet on the 3rd day He rose from the dead! Our hope and faith is in Christ and our future is in Him! He will also raise you from the dead! But He wants to start today! He will never leave you nor forsake you! Your eternity has begun here on earth! Will close out your eternity without Him? The Poor Man’s Tithe! Deuteronomy 26:12
I am sure when some Pastor’s read this scripture they think this represents the level of giving by their congregation! If they do not increase their level of giving I am going to end up as poor as they are! Here is what Tripp’s Complete Commentary says; “Thus does God not only plead the poor man’s cause, (Deuteronomy 15:10-11), but he allots a portion of the 3rd years tithe, not only to the Levite, who is never excluded, but to the stranger, fatherless and widow, as Jerome observed and called it the poor man’s tithe.” Comment: Our Pastor Brady Boyd adopted orphans and I married a widow with orphans. Abraham was a Syrian Deuteronomy 26:5
Even Jacob his grandson was still referred to as a Syrian! However God did change his name to Israel. Were they Syrian refugee’s? It says in the above scripture Abraham was ready to perish in Syria! They immigrated out of Syria. God saw it fit to get them out! God can Bless anyone from anywhere! Islam did not come along until 4000 years later. Islam is one of the most destructive religions ever devised by man! I would resist bringing them here to America for the risk would be great! If God saw it fit to get Abraham out of Syria why do our political leaders think they are so smart to bring them into America? Why? Could it be that they think they are smarter than God? Thankyou.
