Jude 11 “Woe unto them! for they have gone the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.” Commentary: The way of Cain is religion without the sacrificial blood of God! Cain brought an offering of fruit of the ground to the Lord? (Genesis 4:3) Cain made up his own religion! A religion based upon his own efforts not by faith in the sacrificial blood of God! Cain rejected God’s way of Salvation through the blood! He rejected scripture and tried to build his own road to God! Vegetarian sacrifices are not acceptable to God! God will never accept a sacrifice based upon the works of men! Salvation comes from heaven and is not of the fruit of the earth! His brother Abel brought a sacrificial lamb! (Hebrews 11:4) Cain’s false religion lead to the murder of his brother Abel! Cain shed blood because he rejected the sacrificial blood of God! The false religions of this world nailed Jesus to a Cross and shed his blood which purchased our redemption! The persecution of Christians around the world testifies to the false religions of this world who reject the sacrificial blood of Christ and shed the blood of Jesus followers in violence against God and his people! America’s Greatest Threat? Romans 1:28
Is it external? Russia, China or Iran? Is it internal? Financial, political or social? Is it Islamic terrorists? Is it the divide between liberalism and conservatives? All the greatest minds cannot seem to unwrap the mystery of our decline? If we would just get the right people in office or throw a few more billion dollars at it? If the government would just take over then we would be secure! If we could just get rid of certain groups of people? The answer is clear but you will not find it in the Halls of Congress, the Senate or the White House! However our Pastor Oscar Cope in a little old Baptist Church down in Fairburn Georgia has it figured out! Last Sunday morning he told us that the real problem in America is that her people are losing their consciousness of God! He is not in their thoughts! They are unconscious of God! They are brain dead towards God! They are in denial of Him and trying to live without Him! They are dis-functional in their thoughts! So what fills the vacuum left by a dis-functional mind? Many things! Atheism, communism, fascism, evolution(Junk Science), liberalism, false religions, secularism and whatever man can invent to fill the void! God has warned us in fact Paul wrote over 2000 years ago in our Bible about the threat to any culture! God has promised us Blessings or doom if we reject Him! Here is the Greek Translation of Romans 1:28. “And even as they did not prove to retain God in their acknowledgement, God gave them over to a worthless immoral intellect to promote those things that are descending in moral character!” Comment: Is there any proof in your life that you have acknowledged God by living a moral life before God and man? Want To Build A Altar To God? Requires Blood! Genesis 35:1
The word for Altar in the Hebrew is the word, “Mizbeach.” It means the place of sacrifice by slaughtering an animal. The sacrificial system was at the focal point of the Israelite system of worship since the sacrifice and subsequent meal were used to solemnize a covenant or treaty to symbolize a position relationship between two parties. Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices on exiting the ark. The patriarchs built altars and sacrificed at various points along their journeys such as Abram, Isaac, Jacob and Moses. At Mount Sinai, God commanded that the Israelites build a tabernacle that included two altars; a bronze altar in the courtyard for sacrificing animals and a golden altar inside the tabernacle for burning incense. Solomon and Ezekiel followed a similar pattern. God also required that the altar for burnt offerings be made of earth or uncut stones so that human hands would not defile it. God also required that the altar would have no steps so that human nakedness would not be exposed on it. Notice that the blood required was not human blood but animal blood. In some religions including Islam human sacrifice is required. God never required us to commit another sin to try to cover our first sin. The blood of animals never did pay the penalty of death for our sin but pointed us to the God-Man Jesus Christ as the one and only sacrifice for our sin.
