Give or Take Credit?

I Corinthians 2:12 “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are “freely given” to us of God.” Commentary: The words “freely given” is translated as a gift! It is grace to be kindly treated with favor! The spirit of the world always says you have to earn it! It is all by my own efforts! Get what you can out of people and move on! Trash the reputation of others to promote yourself! The spirit of the world is an evil spirit! Use people to get ahead! I will not be a sacrifice for their benefit but sacrifice them for my benefit! The Spirit of God placed gifts within you at birth! The problem comes when we take credit for our God given gifts! Pride drives the spirit of the world! I did it! The Spirit of God was in the Garden of Eden but so was the spirit of the world! Adam and Eve you are wiser than God! Take and eat of this fruit and you will be wiser than God! God is holding back from you and cheating you! God has not said you will surely die if you eat of this tree? God is a liar! Satan as always is looking for an opportunity to persecute Christ and his followers! Which spirit lives in you? The Holy Spirit or the spirit of the world? The Apostle Paul said i know nothing else but Christ crucified! Do you look at Christ as your Savior or do you try to put him up on the Cross again? Do you praise him with your breath or curse him? Are you like Judas playing a religious game while betraying him? At the ascension of Jesus to heaven he promised his disciples he would send his Holy Spirit to them! To secure his promises to them until his second coming! If you look outside yourself to Christ then he will send his Holy Spirit to dwell inside you! The Comforter! The Holy Spirit is made available to you because God made a blood sacrifice of himself for you on a Cross! For you sin! Then the Gift of the Holy Spirit is available after your repentance to God for your sin and accepting the blood sacrifice of Christ! What are some of the benefits of the Holy Spirit living in you? Love, peace, joy, patience, long suffering, prophecy and the list goes on! Jesus said you receive not because you ask not! Ask Jesus to send his Holy Spirit to you! You will find a new way of living in him! Not leaning on your own understanding but acknowledging him in all your ways! Jesus said he would never leave you nor forsake you! Double Credit!

1 John 1:9 Greek Translation: “If we confess consenting together with God and coming into agreement with God giving credit to another about our sins, he is faithful and trustworthy with justice as the law giver to forgiving or dismissing our sin sending us away legally clean from all unrighteousness or what is not conformed to justice and what is not right.” Comment: All disagreement with God is sin! Remember when your teacher gave you extra credit for doing more assignments? Yes it was a bribe! However it was not enough bribe for me! I could not give up fishing and hunting after school and on week-ends! I could not give up chasing down rabbits with my dog Jigs! I could not give up shooting down ducks and geese out of the sky! I could not give up pheasant and quail hunting! I could not give up deer hunting! My summer vacation was year round! Why did not my teacher just give me extra credit for coming to school? It was a sacrifice for me! I could not do these things without giving up homework! I used to tell my mom I was too smart for homework! Only stupid people have to do homework! Then she asked me why my grades were so bad? I told her these teachers cannot recognize talent! They are too dumb to see my greatness! When we confess our sins we are coming into agreement with God about our sin! Confession is a double edge sword! It is double credit! We through confession are giving credit to another! Credit to Satan author of our sin and credit to God who has redeemed us from sin! Redeem means to purchase back with a price! The price of the blood of Christ! Your credit card probably gives you redemption points or reward points. You get these rewards by paying the price of purchases on your card. You paid the price but God has paid the price for you! What is sin? Sin means to miss the true purpose of your life! Your true purpose is to worship God in whatever you do! In all that you do! Sin blocks worship! Your guilt of sin will separate you from God! No desire to worship him? No desire to be in church on Sunday? No desire to read and study your Bible? Do you even mock those who do worship God? No peace? No joy? Tithes and offerings foolish to you? No prayer life? Is there always something more important than worship? Sin produces darkness! You are overcome and restrained from worship! Are you blinded to the light? If we say we have no sin the truth is not in us! In fact God says we are a liar! Give credit where credit is due! How is your credit rating with God? Have your debts been cleared by the blood of the Lamb? When we confess our sin Satan is defeated God is glorified and you are free from guilt and shame! Free at last and free to worship God! Credit Card Praise! John 5:43

Jesus did not come in his own name! He came from Heaven to earth in his Father’s name! Jesus told the crowd that you receive me not? However if another shall come in his own name you will receive him? Jesus whole walk on this earth was to give his Father the glory! What much of the world cannot stand is for you to come to them in Jesus name! If you tell the world my name is Frank, Sally or George they have no problem! But if you come to them in the name of Jesus all Hell breaks loose! Most people have a Visa or credit card. The bank that has given you the card has given you a loan or some credit! If you took the name of the bank off the credit card it would be worthless! You purchase by credit in the name of the bank! Your name on the card by itself would not even buy you a can of beans! Our power and authority does not come from our own name but from the name that is above all names! When we call on Jesus name it gets the attention of the Father just as a charge on your Visa gets the attention of the bank! Without the recognition of the bank or the recognition of the Father your request will be denied! The Father listens for the name of Jesus from your lips! Some people curse rather than praise Jesus! Do people go around cursing their bank? Your credit rating is all about you honoring your bank by paying back the loan! How much credit do you give Jesus for your life? How is your spiritual credit rating? Have you refused to give the credit for which he has paid out to you on the Cross for your sin? The debt was paid by him! Your debt! Spirit or Flesh? John 11:25-26 (Greek Translation)

Verse 25; “Jesus said unto her I will cause his body to stand on his feet again from the grave! I am the principle of life and the spirit and the soul but not the flesh! He that will believe or give me credit though he were dead yet I will cause his spirit to dwell eternally with me!” Verse 26; “And whosoever dwells with me spiritually and eternally and believes or gives me credit shall never die on account of sin!” Comment: My first thought was how could I believe in Jesus if I were physically dead? Jesus is talking about a spiritual death! The second death! Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead spiritually and physically but Lazarus died again! Jesus is telling us that the spirit and the soul is eternal but not the mortal flesh! Yet it is the mortality of the flesh that controls most people! Remember Jesus said we must be born again! Translated from the Greek he said we must be conceived from above! That is an important reason why at His ascension He sent us the Holy Spirit! There are two things in life that can destroy you eternally! Sin and to trust your flesh! Jesus heals sick bodies but only with eternity in mind! He said go and sin no more! Your flesh is temporary but your spirit and soul will dwell somewhere eternally! Either with Christ or separated from Him! Have you ever heard a Christian say I have never sinned since coming to Christ? The big lie! Your sin past, present and future is covered by the blood of Christ! You are not Holy by your own efforts! All will be raised from the dead! No one will miss this whether righteous or unrighteous! When you appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ you if in Christ will be pardoned from judgment! You will miss the second eternal death! Are you giving Christ credit for your Salvation right now while on earth! Do you tell others or are you mute?
