Good Friday! Great Sunday!

I Peter 2:24 “Who his own self [bare] our sins in his own [body] on the tree, that we [being dead] to sins, should [live] unto [righteousness] : by whose stripes we are [healed].” Commentary: Interesting Greek words bracketed above used in the light of Good Friday! The word ‘bare’ Strong’s 399 means to take up or offer up. However it is much richer in meaning when you go to the root Greek word taken from the Greek word used here! It is Strong’s number 303. It means to reverse! Did you ever drive a car without a reverse? I have! No fun! You cannot park it with anything in front of you! One mistake and you are stuck! Did you know God reversed your sin for you! By yourself you could not back up out of your sin! You were headed for hell with no reverse! You could not move towards heaven! It was beyond your own power! He reversed your sin in his own ‘body’. The word ‘body’ Strong’s #4983 means both the spiritual and the physical body! He reversed your condition of death! When Jesus was placed on the tree, the Cross for you he reversed your destiny of death and destruction to life with joy! Forgiveness! Dying to your sins and living for Christ! No longer living for sin but living for him! We stopped taking the poison! Now we can ‘live’ for him. Strong’s # 2198 ‘live’ means an all inclusive life naturally, spiritually and eternally! To live unto ‘righteousness’! Strong’s # 1343 means to be right with God conforming to the claims of a higher authority! You adopt God’s standard as opposed to lawlessness! Satan wants to claim your body and spirit for himself yet Christ has redeemed you at a great cost to himself! Satan sacrifices you for himself and God has sacrificed himself for you! Then by his ‘stripes’ you were healed! Meaning you have been restored both spiritually and physically as if you have never sinned! Your condition was reversed back to the Garden of Eden before Adam and Eve sinned against God! Baseball Great Hank Aaron!

On January 5, 2021, 86 year old Baseball legend Hank Aaron received his first shot of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the Morehouse School of Medicine as part of an effort to send a message to Black Americans that the vaccine is safe, according to the Associated Press. He died the next day? No cause of death has been released yet. We have family members that got the Coronavirus! My sister in a nursing home and other family who have kids who just had to run around with their friends! I am almost 72 years old! My wife is older. You have to weigh the risks of the plague against the risks of taking the vaccine! Everyone has to decide for themselves! No promotion by our government or any celebrity will sway my decision in regards to taking this vaccine! Coronavirus has over a 99 percent survival rate! Remember President Trump got it! Tests are now showing a much larger percent of the population have this Chinese Plague (sorry Joe), and have no symptoms! We all wish Hank had not taken this vaccine! He may not have died from it yet this will instill resistance from all Americans about this vaccine! I want to be a poster boy but not in the obituary section of the Newspaper saying he got the shot! Make Christ Great Again!

The greatness of Christianity did not lie in attempted negotiations for compromise with any similar philosophical opinions in the Ancient world, but in its inexorable foundation in preaching and fighting for its own doctrine! Adolph Hitler Commentary: Hitler experienced two types of Christians in Nazi Germany! Those that rolled over and played dead under persecution and those that went to the gallows standing by Biblical doctrine resisting to their deaths! History repeats itself! Months ago I warned Christians here in America a huge wave of persecution is coming to the church here in America! Your faith in this time and place is going to be tried by fire! Last week-end several churches were burned down! A man drove a vehicle through the front entrance of a church then with the vehicle full of gasoline cans set them ablaze in the church! The message being if you come back to church we will get you! Hitler admired those who stood for their faith even unto death! Doctrinally the American church is illiterate and does not know its own doctrine! I had a pastor of a big church in Colorado a few years back when I challenged him Biblically on his stand on homosexuality tell me I do not care what your doctrine is? What you believe about God as spoken by his Word is everything! Without that standard you are a ship without a sail drifting away from God! Much of the church is in the world for the love of money! Great Banquet!

Luke 14:16-24 Commentary: Jesus told a parable here to illustrate a spiritual truth! This wealthy man went to great expense and time to prepare a dinner party for those he well knew! However they all made excuses for why they could not attend! Nothing new here! In the Garden of Eden Adam told God it was that woman you gave me! Abraham told God it was because he was too old! So did Sarah! Jeremiah told God he was too young! Moses told God he was a slow speaker! Aron told Moses that the golden calf was made because stuff just happens! Naaman told Elisha the Jordan river was just too dirty to dip into seven times! Mary told God she knew no man! The disciples all fled and hid themselves after the Cross! Our pastor told us one morning he got a call from a congregation member years ago and told him God had told him he should not attend any church again? The dog ate my homework! The school councilor back in high school asked me how may grandmothers do I have! How many funerals do you attend every month? The word excuse in the Greek has three different words used in the New Testament. They are Strong’s numbers 379, 626 and 3868. The Greek word for Strong’s number 626 is where we get our English word “apology.” Did you ever notice Satan never makes an excuse for his evil! No repentance! The devil made me do it? No we listened to the devil! God never makes an excuse for his holiness! An excuse is used to defend our position so we do not have to change! Defend our sin! The blasphemy against God and his Christ by men is to prevent his accusers from ever having to change! Atheists need no repentance! Unbelief is the position taken so no repentance is required! Judas did not make excuses! He just went out and hung himself! No repentance! The good news is Jesus disciples ran out of excuses and believed what God could do through them! We do not want to excuse ourselves from Heaven and the Kingdom of God! Remember good works can also be an excuse from Heaven! In Islam they believe they have to die for God (Martyrdom), when the truth is God died for their sin on the Cross! In Hinduism they make God in their minds or their own image with millions of idols when in fact God created them in his own image! All the religions of the world except Christianity are works oriented! My good works will be enough when Jesus said your good works are as filthy rags! Only the work of God on the Cross will save you! Nothing else! We do good works because the love of God resides in us for faith without works is dead but our works are not promotional based to get us to heaven they are the result of the Holy Spirit living in us! Great Mystery! 1 Peter 1:12

Greek Translation: “Unto who it was revealed removing the veil but not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister and wait on us, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the Gospel unto you with the Holy breath of God sent down from heaven above, which things the angels the messengers of God desire to peer within.” Comment: The Holy scriptures are not for any private interpretation! The angels have delivered messages to the prophets over Biblical history when they themselves did not understand the message! Angels are not redeemed yet they try to understand redemption but not fully yet they deliver the messages in obedience to God! When the Holy Spirit gives us revelation confirmed by “His Word”, it is not for yourself! When you  received Christ as Savior the veil was removed from your eyes and now you are able to see into the Spirit world! You see God and the deceptions of Satan operating in the world!. When we preach the Gospel or evangelize often the hearers will see things from the same scriptures that you the messenger may not see! I often see more from the scriptural message than I do from the messenger! This is the Holy Spirit confirming his word! This is the way the Gospel works! It is about miracles! If you just preach the Word of God people will get saved! Some of those same people will have a bigger ministry than you do! We have to be humble to receive this revelation! God’s revelation is not for me who is already saved but for the unsaved! The Apostle Peter preached this message for me and for you! What we do with the message determines if fruit is produced! If we sow the seeds into others a crop will be produced! Often what we preach is better understood than what we understand! This is the power of the Gospel! Then they take their understanding and pass it unto others! Jesus said go out into all the world and preach the Gospel! Just like me an ordinary evangelist who is obedient and passes the Gospel unto others can do great things for the Kingdom of God! The power of the Word of God cannot be measured! What Great City? Revelation 17:18

A great city that reigns over the kings of the earth! Back in verse 9 it says the seven heads are seven mountains upon which the woman sits! Rome is a city that is built upon seven mountains! Sometimes Jerusalem is called the great city! When the Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation the Roman Empire was at its zenith of power! Rome had conquered almost all the then known world! In 70 A.D. it conquered Jerusalem and burned the city down and the Temple with over one million Jewish casualties! It took one hundred thousand Jewish slaves back to Rome to construct the Roman Colosseum where hundreds of thousands of Christian’s were martyred! Their power seemed absolute! They built roads into conquered territories for their armies to march and conquer more territory! Jesus and all his disciples were martyred except John by the Romans! The persecution against Christian’s stopped when Emperor Constantine came along! Then the Christian faith was adopted by the Roman Empire! Jesus said conquer in my name! The same Roman roads that were used to conquer were now used by missionaries to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth! We really have two women represented here! We have Mary the mother of Jesus who produces the Savior of the world and the Babylonian harlot who produces seed to oppose Christ! The same has always held true! We have a seed in the earth that opposes Christ and a righteous seed that spreads his kingdom throughout the earth! Two Kingdoms! Heaven and Hell! Light and darkness! The last and final battle on earth will be between Christ and his followers and the Anti-Christ of the seed of the mother of harlots Babylon described in the Book of Revelation! The name Babylon means confusion! Did you ever notice the confusion in America today? Gender confusion! Race confusion! Political confusion! Border confusion! Immigration confusion! Lawless confusion! Authority confusion! Constitution confusion! Origin confusion! Environment confusion! Religious confusion! Education confusion! Purpose confusion! The whore that sits upon the beast will always confuse the nations that embrace her and will destroy those nations! Without Vision? Proverbs 29:18

You cannot accomplish great things without vision! You do not make the vision, the vision makes you! The Holy Spirit specializes in giving vision! Vision produces faith! Vanity Fair! Revelation 2:13

Jesus said Antipas is my faithful martyr! Antipas was the Bishop of the church at Pergamos during the reign of Roman Emperor Domitian. The Apostle John ordained Antipas as Bishop of the church at Pergamos. Antipas was burned inside an idol which was a bull shaped copper structure. His crime was casting out demons worshipped by the local population! Some of the hero’s of the Faith are listed in Hebrews Chapter eleven! Stephen was a faithful martyr listed in the Book of Acts! Antipas was most likely a Greek who converted to Christianity. Antipas is the shortened name of Antipater. Remember that was the name of one of Alexander the Great successful Generals. (397-319 B.C.). Remember Herod the Great was known by this name! Jesus will avenge the blood of the Saints! Why did Jesus call Pergamum Satan’s Seat? Even Ephesus with all of its advantages with the Great Temple and bustling port, could not match the importance of the once royal seat of the Attalids! Situated on a scenic acropolis Pergamum was embellished with the largest number of Greek and Roman Temples in the whole of Asia Minor! Examples are Zeus, Athena, Apollo, Demetia, Dionysis and Aphrodite. On another site was housed the largest Aesclepium of the Empire. Its library of two hundred thousand volumes rivaled the renowned library in Alexandria! The eminent Doctor Galen was among her favorite sons! Roman Emperors came to seek healing at the famous Aesclelpium!  Aesclepium was honored as the god of healing in the classical world. When the cult of “Dominus et Deus”, was initiated at Pergamum, the great Basilica was erected, adding to the rostrum of numerous idol Temples! The visitor today Bergama (Turkish name of the present day city), will see the immense structure at the edge of the bustling center. Basilica became the monument of vice and cruelty! Every citizen was forced to burn a few grains of incense here and worship the Emperor of Deus. Then they would proceed to their preferred practice a common syncetistic act which never lacked its double-faced devotees! For anyone who refused to submit to this profane practice death was imminent! Where as the Temple of Zeus was referred by the early Christians as the “Seat of Satan”, the appellation was later transferred to this center where some Christians felt compelled to pay obeisance!
