Are You Good or Evil?

III John 1:11 “[Beloved] follow not that which is [evil], but that which is [good]. He that doeth good is of [God], but he that [doeth evil] hath not seen God.” Commentary: Let us examine these Greek words bracketed above in this scripture. Beloved means my beloved son as speaking to your children with important instructions. The word evil used here is like a military term. It means to retreat from battle! The battle between good and evil! You surrender to evil! You give up! Wave the white flag to wickedness! Evil people intentionally and willfully do harm to others! You surrender to abortion, gay marriage, homosexuality, transgenderism, evolution, false teachings, political causes that harm others, joining with wickedness and making disciples of Satan! The word good means to be useful and beneficial to others! To help to prosper people! You are a benevolent servant for others not harming them! To practice goodness! The word God used here means the true God! Christ! Notice the word follow! You will follow someone! The spirit you embrace that dwells in you will determine your character! Good Friday! Great Sunday!

I Peter 2:24 “Who his own self [bare] our sins in his own [body] on the tree, that we [being dead] to sins, should [live] unto [righteousness] : by whose stripes we are [healed].” Commentary: Interesting Greek words bracketed above used in the light of Good Friday! The word ‘bare’ Strong’s 399 means to take up or offer up. However it is much richer in meaning when you go to the root Greek word taken from the Greek word used here! It is Strong’s number 303. It means to reverse! Did you ever drive a car without a reverse? I have! No fun! You cannot park it with anything in front of you! One mistake and you are stuck! Did you know God reversed your sin for you! By yourself you could not back up out of your sin! You were headed for hell with no reverse! You could not move towards heaven! It was beyond your own power! He reversed your sin in his own ‘body’. The word ‘body’ Strong’s #4983 means both the spiritual and the physical body! He reversed your condition of death! When Jesus was placed on the tree, the Cross for you he reversed your destiny of death and destruction to life with joy! Forgiveness! Dying to your sins and living for Christ! No longer living for sin but living for him! We stopped taking the poison! Now we can ‘live’ for him. Strong’s # 2198 ‘live’ means an all inclusive life naturally, spiritually and eternally! To live unto ‘righteousness’! Strong’s # 1343 means to be right with God conforming to the claims of a higher authority! You adopt God’s standard as opposed to lawlessness! Satan wants to claim your body and spirit for himself yet Christ has redeemed you at a great cost to himself! Satan sacrifices you for himself and God has sacrificed himself for you! Then by his ‘stripes’ you were healed! Meaning you have been restored both spiritually and physically as if you have never sinned! Your condition was reversed back to the Garden of Eden before Adam and Eve sinned against God! To Good To Be True?

Luke 1: 29  Greek Translation: “And when she (Mary), saw the angel Gabriel, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind to reason and separate herself to herself considering and disputing in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.” Comment: Mary living in the 1st Century like us in the 21st Century live in a fallen negative world where good news is considered fake news! The Paris sisters back in the 1960’s had a big hit song called, “To Good To Be True.” If the reference to good news is only our own character then we have problems believing good news! We do not deserve it and we know it! Like your best friend picking up your discarded lottery ticket off the floor and checks and tells you have just won 400 million dollars! Mary did not deserve this win so to believe the good news was a challenge to her! When we come to Christ he discards our past and presents us with a new future! Satan will always try to bring up our past but just remind him of his future! Our Salvation is not based upon our own merit! It is based upon the goodness of God! Unless we receive the gift from God we have nothing to give! No eternal life! No hope! Only guilt! Do not turn Christmas off this year like a light switch and then turn it on next year? The Good! Bad! Ugly! II Chronicles 16:9

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect living in harmony with God and peace towards men. Herein thou has done foolishly; therefore from henceforth thou shall have wars.” Comment: King Asa of Judah started out well but did not end well! He began to trust men more than God! It is vanity to trust in men! We are all flawed mortals! God is constantly recruiting men and women to work in his Kingdom here on earth! In the college grid and National Football League recruiters are constantly going out scouting to find the best players! However God’s recruiting program is just the opposite! God will recruit the worst people and turn them into winners! The crazy man walking among the tombs Jesus delivered from demons and he was the best evangelist for his home town! The woman who had five husbands and living with another guy unmarried was delivered from her sin and became a great evangelist for her village! Lazarus after being raised from the dead had an effective ministry in hospice! Mary Magdalene had some devils cast out of her by Jesus and stood by Jesus at the Cross while the other disciples fled and hid out! God always takes the worst and turns them into the best! Who would chose Peter a fisherman with a hot temper and a sharp knife? Who would chose Thomas a doubter? I will not believe unless I can see and touch your scars from the Cross! Why did not Jesus recruit from the Theology seminaries? The religious folks put Jesus on the Cross! Saul of Tarsus was the only exception! God choses people who are wise enough to know they need help! I need his help everyday! He is not my crutch but my Savior! God helped King Asa defeat his enemies! Then Asa began to take credit upon himself for the victories God had given him! He began to steal God’s glory! He robbed God of his praise! Humility moved to pride! Judas stole money from the Temple treasury to betray Jesus! He robbed God and lost his soul! Do you rob God of his tithes and offerings? Be a man or woman after God’s own heart! Remember God loves his enemies! Relinquish all that you could ever be on your own and give yourself to God! God gave himself for you on a Cross! Could you give yourself to him? All of you?
