Samuel Francis Smith wrote the lyrics to “America (My Country Tis of Thee)” in 1831 while a student at the Andover Theological Seminary in Andover Massachusetts. The church-music composer Lowell Mason, a friend had asked him to translate the lyrics to some German school songbook into English or to write new lyrics to the same tunes. The “God Save the Queen” melody in Muzie Clement’s No. 3 also called “The Great National”, written as a tribute to Clement’s adopted country caught Smith’s attention at the time; rather than translating the lyrics from the German, he wrote his own American patriotic hymn to the melody, completing the lyrics in 30 minutes. Smith gave Mason the lyrics he had written, and the song was first performed in public on July 4, 1831, at a children’s Independence Day Celebration at Park Street Church in Boston. The first publication of “America” was done in 1832. For 100 years it was our National Anthem or National Hymn until 1931 when the “Star Spangled Banner” was adopted as our official National Anthem! Let us together celebrate America and remember the good she has done across the decades! The sacrifices her people have made in two world wars across Europe to stop tyranny and help freedom to reign! In wars across Asia and the Pacific and across the Middle East to promote freedom of people in bondage to tyranny! America has done more good for the world than any nation in history! America the Beautiful!
The first draft of “America the Beautiful”, was hastily jotted down in a notebook during the summer of 1893, which Kathrine Bates spent teaching English at a Colorado Summer School (affiliated with Colorado College) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Later she remembered: “One day some of the other teachers and I decided to go on a trip to the 14000 foot Pikes Peak. We hired a prairie wagon. Near the top we had to leave the wagon and go the rest of the way on mules. I was very tired, but when I saw the view, I felt great joy. All of the wonder of America seemed displayed there, with a sea like expanse!” Kathrine Bates was the daughter of Pastor William Bates and Cornelin Francis Lee of Falmouth Massachusetts. Let us today admire and celebrate the Beautiful America God has placed us in with special blessings that come from being a part of this wonderful experience of freedom, liberty and justice for all! Faith through the Fire! Daniel 3:15-18
The time of testing has come! Worship my image or burn in the furnace! O’ King we cannot worship your image for we were created in the Image of God! We can only worship the God who has created us! God cannot evolve through the false images made by men? We cannot worship the image of abortion! The image of death! We cannot worship the image of Darwin, socialism, communism, fascism, lesbianism, transgenderism, homosexuals, drugs, slavery, atheism, Antifa, tattoos, gambling, divorce and lawlessness! We cannot worship the Jew haters! We cannot worship open borders and the one world government led by the Anti-Christ! These images oppose the true image of God! We serve the God of moral character, courage, faith, conviction, Holiness, righteousness, fidelity and redemption! O’ King you can build a political and immoral law system but we will not bow down to these false images of God which are contrary to God! I will not bake a cake for you to celebrate your wickedness! I would rather lose my business and bake in an oven! We cannot celebrate your sin! We cannot bow down to your images! Whether God will deliver us or not we will not bow down to you! The fourth man in the furnace will deliver us! The God/Man Christ will come to our rescue! The creator of Heaven and earth! None other is worthy of our worship! O’ King the God that is able to deliver us is also able to deliver you from your sin! You cannot make God into your own image? God made you in his image! One day every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! It is better that you confess him while living here on earth than to have to confess his name from Hell! Book of Life! Revelation 13:8
“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names defined by their character are not written in the Book of Life of the male lamb slain from the foundation of the world set in order by God.” Comment: Your name has an address! Just one of two possible residences! Heaven or Hell? Everyone is going to worship someone! It is our God given nature to worship! Satan has perverted this worship and tries to divert this worship to himself! He lies and creates fake news that God is no good and unworthy of worship! He told Jesus if you will just bow down and worship me I will give you all the Kingdoms of this world! Jesus rebuked the tempter with scriptures! It is written… We must do the same when confronting Satan! Who we worship determines our destiny! Your Bible will reveal to you who God is and who Satan is! You will be given the ability to discern them! God’s love is revealed and Satan’s evil is revealed! Once you discern who God is he will enable you to go on the offensive against Satan! You will be able to discern the anti-Christ spirit in popular culture and the false ideologies of men! Whether your name is written down in the Book of Life is determined by what you do with God’s Book down here on earth! The Bible! Believe it in faith or reject it in rebellion? To worship the one who loves you and has saved you is wise! To worship the one who wants to destroy you is suicide! Do not be a Judas! Satan deceives the world through pride! Pride goes before the fall. Pride leads one to exalt oneself over God! Pride leads to trusting self over God! We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! Salvation does not come by going around Christ but by going through him! Sometimes we can trust the gifts rather than the giver of the gifts! Success can separate us from God! The rich young ruler! Where I failed is where I came back to God! Does God want us to fail? No! When my parents wanted me to do my homework I told them I was too smart to study! I know more than the teachers! The road to failure is pride! I do not need God! I can make it on my own! Then when I got failing grades i blamed the teacher! That is what we do with God! We blame God when Satan is the source of our failure! When God blesses us we sometimes take the credit upon ourselves and steal his glory! Satan always tries to blame God for his evil! That is what the Cross is about! Our outcome is determined by what we do with Jesus Christ! Is he just a curse word to you? Your eternity is determined by who you worship! It is your choice! A choice is always determined between two! Two Kingdoms! Two destinies! Good or evil! Heaven or Hell! Christ or the Anti-Christ! We have today but what about tomorrow?
