Numbers 16:46 “And Moses said unto Aaron, take a censer and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense and go quickly unto the congregation and make an atonement for them, for there is wrath gone out from the Lord, the plague is begun.” Comment: Let us look at the phrase, “Make an Atonement.” This phrase is one word in the Hebrew. Here is an easy way to remember the word atonement! AT-ONE-MENT. At one moment! The word means to cover, reconcile, forgive, cleanse or cancel. Cancel what? The plague of death for the penalty of sin! Atonement is always connected with the blood of the sacrifice for sin! Aaron took some fire off the altar! Why is this significant? Because the fire was the instrument to consume the sacrifice! The fire produced the heat to burn the sacrifice that the ascending smoke pleased God! Remember Isaiah was given a hot coal off the alter and touched his mouth! He said I am a man of unclean lips! The word atonement also has another Hebrew root word used in Genesis Chapter six where Noah placed pitch on the inside and outside of the ark. The judgment or flood of water could not come into the ark! It protected them from judgment! Are you sealed in the Blood of the Lamb? Sealed from judgment? Remember in Book of Revelation the seals were broken that released the plagues upon the earth! The rejection of Christ by the world broke the seals and released the judgments! By the time Aaron made it to the congregation or church thousands had died! How many Americans have to die before we do repentance as a nation? No call from the churches across America? How stubborn are we? Things will never be as they were before? Our national sins are abortion, gay marriage, lesbianism, homosexuality, transgenderism and these are a result of rejecting the atonement for their sins! The church in America has also been a partner in this by its muted voice on sin! Some States are saying with death all around them that we need more money for more abortion? So how does God take away abortion from our land! Take away our money! Financial collapse! Plagues and famines! No one has ever fought God and won! Rather than accepting the sacrifice for our sin we then become the sacrifice! Our covering is the blood of Christ! The only sacrifice that will please is the one where God became the sacrifice! The strange fire of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and all man made religions are sacrifices unacceptable to God! They are human sacrifices! Sin being sacrificed for sin will never work! America is stubborn in their pride but God knows how to turn up the heat! They will eventually get it! Either in repentance or judgment!Too late for some but remember God saved Noah and his family and the rest of the world perished! God is cleaning his House! His church! He is cleaning it politically, financially and spiritually! At one moment at the Cross the plague is stayed! At one moment a nation must change! In one moment the sinner is redeemed! This is our moment as the Church! Will we speak up and call for a National repentance?
