I Corinthians 10:9 “Neither let us [tempt] Christ as some of them also [tempted], and were destroyed of serpents.” Commentary: So what does [tempt] mean? The Greek word Strong’s #1598, means refusing to believe God and his Word! What about [tempted], Strong’s # 3985. It means to try to prove God by soliciting sin! What did Jesus say in Matthew 4:7? “Jesus said unto him (Satan), It is written again, thou shalt not “tempt” the Lord thy God.” Satan is the tempter! Not God! When you challenge God with your sin you can expect a bad outcome! Jesus in our Lord’s prayer said, “Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.” When a homosexual, lesbian, transgender challenges God with their sin with no repentance then here comes Sodom and Gomorrah! Here comes the deadly AIDS epidemic! I do not like to use examples in the church but sadly there are some! Pastor Jamie Coots died after being bitten by a poisonous snake in a controversial religious service on February 17, 2014. The “snake handling” pastor of a small Pentecostal church in Kentucky died after being bitten by a rattlesnake during a weekend church service. I remember in India the years we were there in the Hindu Temples they would feed snakes and rats milk! There are are a ton of scriptures in your Bible on temptation and tempting God with sin! Jesus defeated Satan on the Cross! When Jesus was tempted by Satan what did Jesus say? “It is written man shall not live by bread but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” If we neglect the Word of God bad things happen!
