“For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through the wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is they are holy.” Commentary: So what does sanctified mean? I like the Greek translation! It is the transfer of a sinner into the ranks of the redeemed to be Holy even as God is! We try to keep God in a box! Whether in the Ark of the Covenant or keep him in the church all boxed up but God came out of the box at Bethlehem! At Calvary God came out of the box! At Pentecost he came out of the box! On the third day he came out of the box! He will raise us from the dead out of the box! He is more than a white man’s God or a Black man’s God he is creator of all and everything that exists or does not exist! He is not like a Jack in the Box where you crank him up on Sunday morning and you at the end of the service put him back in the box until next Sunday! His influence over you rubs off on others! On an unbelieving spouse and your children! Peter denied Jesus three times yet he hung around Jesus long enough to become the leader of the Jerusalem church and write some of our New Testament! When the world gives up they just come up with divorce! The Apostle Paul understood when a gentile comes to Christ it is possible his or her spouse is an unbeliever! Rather than divorce he encouraged them to wait and let God work things out and save the children! Jesus association with his Father through birth purchased redemption for us at a great cost to him! Everyone wants to be Jesus until it is time to get up on that Cross! Our association with Christ benefits not only us but others! Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world! His truth plays out in us and unto others! The power of God begins internal then becomes external and then is passed on to others! He changes us so we can change the world!
